Right now, I was cursing myself. Why, you ask? Well, a crazy fan of my girlfriend's novel is pointing two guns at the both of us.
Gritting my teeth, I remembered how we ended up like that.
My girlfriend was the author of a pretty famous novel that was almost always at top rankings. Maybe not for the plot or the writing, but the characters themselves who felt so alive.
I had met her in a fan club of her novel and only found out that she was the author around a month after we started dating, and my honest reaction was, How can she be even more perfect?
However, after writing a novel for four years without a break that was longer than a week, I decided to pull her out from work and planned a two-month vacation.
At first she was against it, after all, she was almost finished with the novel, so a hiatus now was weird, but considering that she was already planning a new series to publish as soon as she stopped this one, she agreed.
But she gave in to her mischievous nature. You see, instead of properly explaining the situation to the readers, she decided to pull a prank and publish a fake chapter where the protagonist died while trying to unleash his trump card, ending the novel.
This enraged the readers, after all, this ending was kind of shitty. There was no buildup at all for his death, and it didn't make sense at all!
Once again, she didn't clarify anything and postponed an explanation to after the vacation.
And now, a crazy fan somehow found our address and was planning to force her to rewrite it, or so was his initial plan.
The guy had some missing screws in his head, spouting nonsense like-
"You Bitch! The ones who truly love you are US, the readers, and yet, and yet, you decide to throw us away to stay with this piece of shit!"
The guy was crying after hearing our explanation, and instead of forcing my girlfriend into rewriting the ending, he decided that choosing to spend time with me was a mistake.
This guy is really unstable, if I don't do anything, then we both might end up dead!
If I didn't propose the vacation, we wouldn't be in this situation. I should have waited until the end of the novel, there were only ten more chapters left.
I looked around slowly, not wanting to rile him up.
Seeing a broken piece of a vase he had shot early, I formed a plan.
There are two guns and one piece of a broken vase. Well, I know what to do.
"Fuuu"
I breathed out slowly and threw the piece of broken vase at the hand that was aiming at my girlfriend.
The shot that I was expecting never came, so I used the extra time to push my girlfriend inside the bathroom and locked her inside.
"I'm so sor-"

I tried to apologize, but the gunshot had finally come.
First there was silence, and then there was the cry of a baby.
