They landed hard on cold stone. Torches flickered to life, casting the dungeon into grim light.

Kazuto stood, brushing himself off. "Okay, no problem. Just smash a core, rescue Ayame, and get the hell out."
The floor shifted. Black liquid oozed up, forming grotesque humanoid figures—featureless except for glowing white grins.
Nyala crouched, claws extended. "Mmm~ playtime."Liora frowned. "Be careful. They're fragments of the Shadow Core."
Kazuto twirled his stick, aura sparking. "Good. Then we crack skulls until we find the heart!"

As they charged forward, a strange sigil flared on the floor beneath them.
Kazuto blinked. "Uh oh."

Dozens of shadows rushed them.
Nyala weaved between them, claws flashing, her movements a blur of deadly grace and bouncing curves. "Mmm~ come on, more!"Liora summoned chains of light, binding shadows so Kazuto could smash them apart.
But for every one destroyed, more emerged from the black ooze.
The dungeon walls pulsed.

Kazuto panted. "Dammit—they just keep coming! Where's the damn core?!"
Liora's eyes flashed. "Beneath the central seal!"
At the far end of the chamber, a massive sigil glowed on the floor, pulsing with dark energy. A crystalline orb rose from it—the Shadow Core, throbbing like a beating heart.
Aura Awakening
The shadows surged toward the orb, forming a living wall.
Kazuto growled, aura flaring pink-gold. He charged, smashing through them—but they overwhelmed him, clawing, pulling, dragging him down.
His stick dimmed. His breath hitched.

The shadows screamed, clutching their faceless heads.
With one final pulse of his aura, Kazuto shattered the orb.
The chamber exploded with light. The shadows evaporated, leaving only silence.

Kazuto fell to one knee, panting. Sweat dripped down his body—still completely naked.

Cliffhanger
