Marie's POV
I didn't bother to wait; I was more afraid of Mancini than I thought, probably because of his abusive nature, his aura, or maybe because he was able to command power in a way that I was yet to know about.
On reaching my room, I took my time to catch my breath. It wasn't easy, and at first I thought I had run into Mancini. What would I have explained?
As I pondered, I shook my head. It was for my own good. I needed to explore the mansion just so I could use the information I had gathered if need be.
But something threw me off. My heart hammered in my chest when I thought about what I had discovered.
Instead of Mancini, I ran into his right-hand man, who happened to be Lionel, and for some reason, instead of dragging me out of there, he saved me like it was nothing.
I had expected him to drag me to Mancini and report my movements or something. Anything to make me receive punishment.
