"Nyra, don't fucking give me that. Are you planning to go and leave me here?"
Nyra could feel her headache getting worse as she listened to her best friend ranting. This was the only way they could save their land that was falling apart by each day.
"I'm sorry Rachel, but it has to be done. I give you my word that I would come back unscathed and alive" Nyra said about to touch Rachel's shoulder but she slapped Nyra's hand away, sniffling.
"You think you're the savior that can help us? For crying out loud, you can't even help yourself!" Rachel yelled and before Nyra could reply, she turned around running away.
"You can't even help yourself"
Nyra smiled at the words as she leaned against the railings. This was the only thing she could do and she had expected Rachel to stick by her side and support her, but at last, not everyone reason the same way. Nyra chuckled as she ran her fingers through her hair, her heart racing as her grip on the railings tightened.
After the war that took her father's life and destroyed their land, everything built on it or planted would never flourish. Their kind kept dying of hunger, sickness and different sort of things. Miranda, the queen and Nyra's mom soon found a solution to their problems.
The veilshard. An ancient monument that was hidden at the heart of valerdorn, the elven kingdom. It's power could restore their magic, their land and even heal their people but there was a problem.
The elves and faeries weren't exactly best friends, it was forbidden for a fae to enter into their land but Nyra was willing to try. She had nothing to live for in the first place.
This was the only thing she could do and try to avenge her father. After allowing the cool and slightly stiff wind enter her body, she turned around. Taking a deep breath one last time, she picked up a brown sling bag and tucked her sword into the side of her boots before leaving her room.
What she was doing was like, walking right to the devil. For her people, Nyra would do anything, even risk her life.
As Nyra walked slowly to the stables were her horse was being kept, she met her mother there, deep in thoughts and she couldn't help but feel guilty for allowing her mom and the queen, go through this.
"Are you ready to go?" Queen Miranda turned to look at Nyra who nodded slowly with a small smile.
"Mom, are you sure you're going to be fine alone?" Nyra walked into the stables as she led a strawberry blonde horse out.
"Don't worry about me and get this done, Nyra. This is our last chance and if we mess this up, that's it. We're ruined" Miranda said as she took out a purple pouch like bag from her pocket, handing it to Nyra.
"What's this mom?" Nyra couldn't help but suspect this was some kind of magic dust or something that could hurt her.
"Incase you get into a touch position, pour this over your opponents body and they would become as weak as a log. Got it" Miranda looked at Nyra who slowly nodded as she stuffed the pouch into her bag. Nyra turned to look at her mother with a small smile before walking to her horse.
She hoisted herself up on the horse as she pulled on the reins on the horse, kicking it gently by the side as it soon started galloping out of the palace.
"Make mummy proud Nyra and please be safe" Queen Miranda prayed as she watched Nyra disappear out of her sight.
*****
By the time Nyra got to valerdorn, it was currently night and she could hear owl's hooting, she shivered involuntary due to the sounds.
She pulled on the reins of her horse as it slowly stopped galloping. She knew every escape spot, entrance and exit, she had visited this area earlier just to confirm her plans and make sure everything was in check.
As she jumped off her horse, she tied it to a tree, pulling her hood on and adjusting her mask to cover her face well.
She looked at the large wall that was built around valerdorn with a small smirk. She could bring this down in minutes but her plan wasn't to get caught.
She knelt on one knee and she placed her palm right on the floor. Closing her eyes, she muttered some incoherent words before snapping her eyes open, they had turned a bright shade of glowing purple.
Nyra could feel a tingling sensation in her chest as she kept focusing. There was a small crack in between these walls and the more power she drew from the ground, the more the crack expanded.
After it felt like a while, she closed her eyes and took her hand off the floor staring at the crack that was now as big as a door frame. She took a deep breath doing a little happy dance before grabbing her bag from the floor and walking through the crack.
Immediately she entered, she looked around the area and noticed that the guards were probably surveying the area so she had to move fast. But as she was about taking a step forward, she felt a strong hand drop on her shoulder as if stopping her from moving.
She gasped, pulling out her sword as she tried to pry the person's hand off her shoulder but the person didn't budge, she immediately turned around the see a man that was few feets taller than her and so damned handsome.
Focus on your mission, Nyra.
She pointed her sword right at the arm that was holding her shoulder about to stab the elf but he grabbed the sword, pulling it out from her hand as he stabbed her right in the shoulder his hand was placed on.
"Thought your plan would work?, you filthy fae"
