Cade's POV
I knocked on Ember's door so hard that my knuckles started bleeding.
"Open up! We need to talk!"
Nothing.
I pressed my ear against the wood. I could hear her breathing on the other side. Fast and shaky, like she was crying.
My wolf was going crazy inside me. He wanted to break down the door. He wanted to hold her and make everything okay. But I couldn't move. I was stuck between what I wanted and what I had to do.
"Please, Ember. Let me in."
"Go away!" Her voice was soft through the door.
"I'm not leaving until you listen to me!"
"There's nothing to say!"
"Yes, there is!"
I heard her footsteps walking away from the door. Panic shot through me like lightning.
I ran around to the back of her house and tried the kitchen door. Locked. The windows were locked too. But I knew Ember always left her bedroom window open..
