Chapter 31 - Partnership

He reached for the chain, his fingers brushing against the waxy, cold skin of the corpse's neck. He tugged, but it didn't come free. It was stuck, frozen in place.

Gritting his teeth, he hooked his fingers under the chain and pulled as hard as he could. There was a soft crackle as the ice-bond finally gave way, and the necklace came loose into his hand, leaving a small, damp patch on the corpse's skin.

He observed it intently, turning it over to see what was special with it. He came to a conclusion a moment later.

Nothing.

The pendant looked ordinary. It was square-shaped, with a murky red stone pressed into its center.

"What to do now?" he mumbled.

"What if I put my blood on it?" He loved watching movies, and generally, most treasures like this required something for someone to access them.

However, it was still fiction after all.

What if nothing happened?
