Chapter 24 - Insecticide Version W40K – Warhammer 40K

In the blurry outreaches of space, there lay nothing, except tiny cosmic fragments floating by, the only remnants of once mighty planets, decimated through the brutal passage of time...

Well, that was a couple of hours ago

Buzzzzzzzzzzz...

Flying through the dark outreaches of space were tiny clusters of black meteorites, their sides flapping up and down as they propelled themselves forward. Upon closer inspection, tiny red beads could be seen dotting the front of what appeared to be faces, constantly blinking as they barreled towards their destination:

A 26 km long Gloriana class Battle Barge, the Vinterkhold

Sensing the abominable presence through their antennas once again, the mighty Swarm of Tazzyronth made their way towards their destination, willing to risk everything and everybody to destroy the unholy signal that is present there...

"To starboard men! This is the hour of doom, for we have managed to trace remnants of the abominable Tyranids! Though we don't know how or why they're present here, by the order of the Emperor, we are hereby decreed to destroy the abominations that threaten the safety of humanity, no matter where we may be, for that is the creed of the Imperium!"

Standing at the top of a large podium, a white haired man wearing a sub-division of the Ultramarines Powersuit gave a passionate speech to the people gathered at the bottom, whether they be from Adeptus Astartes, Adeptus Mechanicus, or the Adeptus Militarum. Seeing the all cheer at his speech, the man, satisfied with the outcome, leapt from the platform, landing near the awestruck group from Herta Space Station.

Taller than the average Space Marine, Chapter Master Marneus Calgar walked towards Shinji, stopping only a few feet from him. Hands in chest, Shinji greeted him with the proper decorum, smile never fading from his lips. "Lord Calgar, it is my honour to have you on my ship, the esteemed Glorian class Vinterkhold!"

At this, Calgar could not keep his stoic face intact no longer. Breaking into a smile, Calgar went up to Shinji, before grabbing him into a large hug. "Brother, no need to be so formal. We all know that the only reason I was able to become the Chapter Master was because of the fact that you persistently refused to be placed in the position, opting for me instead. Apart from me and Lord Guilliman, you are the only one who has 26 tomes entombed at the Fortress of Hera about your deeds. Everyone at the Chapter regards you as the shadow Chapter Master, whether you like it or not. And to be honest, the only reason the Imperium was able to recover so much was because of your many sacrifices brother. Why, the addition of Scranton Reality anchors has made Warp travel even safer, causing those wretched inhabitants of the Immaterium to be unable to get our souls. Hahaha! You should've seen the faces of those four squatters once they realised they could get our souls no more! Why–"

"My lord, sorry to interrupt, but the Tyranid fleet has only 100 m left before impact with our ship. What is the course of our action?"

Smiling even bigger, Calgar just gave a small, simple answer–

"Why, treat them as guests– Imperium styled..."

Guns ablaze, the Vulkanite-Fweiser cannons at the side, blasting burning salvos of Einstein-Bose Condensates, burning swathes of bugs into ashes. Scranton-Geller Energon shields deflected any and all energy shots away from their intended targets, repelling them back to their owners, killing them amidst their silent screams of terror.

Potholes opened from the side, from which soldiers positioned themselves, hurling burning projectiles of fissile steel, burning The Swarm into radioactive ashes. Phosphex minefields lit themselves into bright green fireworks, creating beautiful sparkles of burning, screaming insects as they flailed in despair.

All the while the group watched aghast at the scene, unable to comprehend the sheer brutality and efficiency of the operation.

"So, seems to me like our bug extermination is ending quite soon..."
