"Are you still there?"
Dorian's deep voice pulled Estelle back to reality, making her realize she had gone completely silent on the call. Her fingers tightened around the phone as she raised her other hand to her forehead, rubbing it slowly as though it could ease the sudden tension.
"Uhmm… yeah, I'm listening. I mean…" she hesitated for a while because her throat felt dry. She quickly cleared her throat and forced her voice to be steadier. "Thanks so much for your concern, Mr. Throne, but I won't be accepting your offer"
A soft and low chuckle slipped through the speaker. "You'll need a job if you really plan on leaving that marriage of yours"
Her chest tightened. Estelle pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
"And…" Dorian's tone was sharp as though he was peeling away every secret she thought she had hidden. "I'm sure you already know that you won't get a job anywhere, not with who your husband is"
