Chapter 1 - Regrets and Revenge

Dear Diary:

It's been a long time since I've written in here. I think the last time I wrote in this diary was when I was sixteen. Now at the age of twenty-five years, I've discovered that my life has been ruined. Everything gone, the sweat of my labour evaporated in the harsh sunlight as if it were just a light rain.

How? How did things go so badly? I just remembered now. It all started when I fell in love with a girl in high school. Now that I think back, I was truly pathetic. I did everything for her. I toiled and sweated for her, but what I didn't know was that she was cheating on me with the man who just ruined me.

Jaden Croft. This man who made my life miserable in school. The humiliation, beatings, and blackmail he inflicted on me nearly forced me to commit suicide. I was shunned by my peers, portrayed as an Outcast, and brought to this important state.

But the event that pained me the most was when my family disowned me. I fear the Crofts transitioning it to them. My father disowned me, took my mother and son, and left me to be an orphan. I hate them so much that if I had a chance, I would kill them. Those fucking bastards betrayed me when I needed them the most.

In my adult years, I opened my tech business but the Crofts still came after me and ruined my business in under a year. Now I'm penniless and impoverished in a run-down house like this.

If only I had been lucky, if only I hadn't pursued that girl, if only I had stood up to Jayden, maybe things wouldn't have turned out to be like this.

I have nothing to say anymore. I'm just happy that I'm still alive, grateful for a new day, and hoping things will change. I need things to change for the better and I hope it will happen.

Trevor sat at the table in his singlet and boxers, putting down the pen and sighing. He was chubby, his face filled with freckles and a broken glasses resting on the bridge of his nose.

He picked up a glass of water, took a few sips, and then dropped it. He read the short paragraphs of the diary and frowned at how it felt. It lacked the emotion of the pain he actually felt. He wanted somebody to stumble on the diary, read it, and feel the pain he had about how his life was.

"How pathetic I truly am." Trevor spat out in anger.

In a fit of rage, he picked up the glass and hurled it at the bare wall. The glass shattered on impact, water splashing, and the broken pieces of glass falling on the ground.

Trevor sank back in the chair, removed his glasses, and rubbed his forehead.

He stared at the ceiling.

He missed her.

He just couldn't help it. Why was he still thinking of her? Why were his thoughts still drifting off to her? She had ruined him and yet he couldn't bring herself to curse her, to be angry at her. Why. Why was he so weak? He hated this, this weakness. To be controlled by a woman who had forgotten him. A woman who only viewed him as a scab she finally peeled from her life.

Lily Adams.

That was her name.

He could never forget it.

She stood in the sunlight of his imagination, framed by the golden spill of a summer morning. Her hair, blonde like fresh wheat after a harvest, seemed to reflect every stray ray.

She was just beautiful. He had done everything for her, begged like a dog just to date her. Then when she accepted, he had worked to the bone to buy her gifts and make her happy. He thought it was working; he thought she was warming up to him, but she was using him. She wanted Jayden who was rich, who would provide for her.

Jayden had told her to accept, to make him feel it was genuine. Then when everything was done, he told her to dump him openly in school and announced that she was cheating on him.

She had done that to him. So why was he still thinking about her? Why was he so stupid?

He got up and stared around the house. It just resembled a pig sty. He had no friends, ever since his supposed best friend was in cahoots with Jayden.

Could he ever bounce back? Could he ever be successful? Could he... have his revenge? Could he feel the pleasure from the terror of everyone who's ruined him?

Then suddenly, loud bangs erupted from his front door. They were loud, annoying and so suspicious. He frowned in anger. He was just reminiscing and now someone was disturbing him.

"I don't know who the fuck you are." He shouted. "I'm not expecting anyone so fuck off!"

There was silence just for a moment, then the banging resumed, louder and more intense.

Trevor crossed the door, opened it, and was ready to verbally insult the offender.

He didn't see it coming.

A knee suddenly came into his view. It connected with his nose, cracking sound audible.

Trevor groaned in pain. A punch struck his gut and a right hook materialized out of nowhere, connecting with his eyes and sending him sprawling into the wooden table. The table upturned and the diary, three plates, and cups came crashing down on Trevor, splintering into pieces as they connected with his body.

Trevor coughed up blood and a few teeth as he groaned in pain. What just happened? He couldn't even think properly. It was just so fast. One minute he had just opened the door, the next minute he was down on the ground, teeth missing, eye swollen, and bruises on his face.

He raised his head as three guys came through the door.

They were laughing, joking with each other.

"Did you hear what this bastard said?" One of them said, laughing.

"He said we should fuck off." The other answered. "Really annoying."

"Maybe he didn't know it was us." The third one spoke.

"Maybe," the first answered. "But it pissed me so much that I had to give a little gift."

Trevor stared at the guys in fear. What was going on? He didn't know them. He hadn't offended anyone, right? So why were they here? Are they robbers? They didn't look like one. They were too confident, and they had no guns.

"What do you want?" Trevor asked. "I believe I've not owed you guys anything. I've never seen you before."

"Nah, you're right." The first intruder replied. "You didn't offend us, you offended our boss."

Trevor grimaced at the pain from his nose. It was definitely broken.

"I've not had any dealings with bosses," Trevor said. "You've got the wrong guy."

"Is that so?"

The intruder made way for the new guy who came in. Trevor's expression changed into anger as the new person became visible.

He wore a tuxedo, his brown hair slicked back, his piercing blue eyes boring into Trevor. His knuckles were tattooed and his neck was visible with a golden chain.

"Jayden." Trevor spat in anger. "You son of a bitch. You can't just leave me alone, can you?"

Jayden stared at him then raised one eyebrow. The gangster, seeing his boss's expression, proceeded to grip Trevor's dark hair and slam a fist into his face.

Trevor, grunting in pain, coughed up blood.

"I suggest you watch your mouth." Jayden quietly spoke. "Or I cut off your tongue."

"What do you want?" Trevor asked.

Jayden simply brought out a folded note. "You wrote a letter to Lily, didn't you?"

"I didn't. "

"Lies."

"Are you fucking serious, you bastard?!" Trevor screamed. "I'm not the only guy who likes your girlfriend! I said I didn't!"

Another punch to his jaw sent Trevor seeing stars immediately.

"I said watch your tongue." Jayden spat. "This is your last warning."

"Did he confess?" A feminine voice announced.

Trevor's eyes widened. No, it couldn't be. It can't be. That voice. He couldn't forget it.

She walked into the room. She was stunning. Effortlessly beautiful. She hadn't lost her beauty at all.

"Lily."Croaked Trevor.

Lily gazed at him with cold eyes.

"Never," She said. "Call my name like that."

"Why are you doing this, Lily. " He said. "You know my handwriting. It's not me."

Lily stared at him for a moment, then she laughed. "Yes, it isn't you."

"Then why are you doing this?"

Jayden answered for her.

"It's because," he said. "It's time to permanently remove the scab.

One of the gangsters brought out a gun and aimed it at Trevor.

"No, you can't do this!" Trevor said in a panic. "You are crazy! High school is over! We were done! Why are you doing this?"

Lila bent down closer, her face inches from Trevor's.

"Because you crossed me." She said. "You actually thought I would fall for you. I loved Jayden, not you. That's why I used you and now you're not useful. Even the Newman family disowned you because you're useless."

She straightened, linked arms with Jayden, and proceeded to walk out.

She motioned with her hands as she walked out. "Finish him."

"Bye-bye, Scab," Jayden called out as they left.

The gangster locked his gun. "No offence, " he smiled, "It's just business. Any last words?"

Trevor met the gun and the gangster's face.

"Fuck all of you." He spat out. "I hope you all rot in hell."

The gangster chuckled, his gun ready.

"I've heard those a lot today."

The gun went off.

Trevor fell, into darkness, regretting every choice he made.

He was gone, forgotten like he didn't exist.

Or so he thought.
