"Yeah, me neither." Christian replied. We all sat in silence, like pin drop silence... But that didn't last very long, as the silence broke to a door creak which was fairly loud..
We all turned around to the sound, and saw one of the doors to the rooms, which was closed open slightly.. I slowly stood up from my seat, and turned round, facing the door. Everyone stayed dead silent, and waited for.. well I guess the door to open. But how we all knew what it was, was from the sounds. Zombies. Oh boy..
With Maverick still unconscious, I doubt Christian could run more with Maverick on his back or carrying him.
"Hey guys..?" Ruby spoke in a quiet voice.
"Yeah..?" Nicole answered in the same tone, but a bit more frightened.
"I think we should go.." Ruby replied, stepping back ever so slightly. Without further words, to my surprise, Christian took Maverick and headed towards the door. He saw that we hadn't moved and stood at the door and gave a deadpan stare.
"Do you all WANT to die or what?" He exclaimed, a little irritated. But obviously, we moved over and opened the exit door. The zombies hadn't moved out of that room yet, so we were in the clear with that. We all cautiously looked out the apartment, and from what we could tell in the dark.. It was clear. Not to mention, the emergency dim lights did absolutely no justice to our situation, but.. We had to use all that we could to see in the dark, I suppose.
We scurried out of the apartment, cautiously walking out. We walked a few feet away from the apartment before Nicole.. stepped on a scrap piece of metal on the floor and slipped.. with a thud which echoed through the halls.
"Shit." He cursed lowly to himself, trying to pick himself up. After he managed to stand up and brush himself off.. but, before I could move, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I thought it was Christian, since Ruby and Nicole were in front of me, but I immediately turned around when I figured Christian would have no reason to do that. Oh shit. Nathan. I immediately backed away, and hit back to back with Christian.
"What the hell shitty face?-" before he said anything further, I grabbed the back of his shirt, and started running.
"RUN! THAT BASTARDS HERE!!" I shouted back to Ruby and Nicole.. and thankfully, they both managed to catch up with us. But I looked back and saw Nathan running faster over towards Christian. That shithead was completely unaware that Nathan was like 10 feet away from him.. Nathan grabbed Christians shirt and pulled him behind while they were still running.. and Christian stumbled backwards, momentarily stopped from running. I stopped dead in my tracks.
I don't know what triggered my body to react on its own like this, but I grabbed Nathan aggressively as he was about to punch Christian, and yanked him, throwing him against the wall with a loud thud. Christian stood there with Maverick.. a bit startled from my actions. I looked at Nathan on the ground, as I could vaguely see the blood on his head from the impact.
He groaned loudly, "ACK!-" he yelled out, but I stared down at him and rolled my eyes. I turned back to Ruby and Nicole who also stopped in front of me.
"Keep going.. there's probably more people.. let's get somewhere safe." I spoke up. This time, we walked. Since we were out of breath.. even though we only ran for under 1 minute and 30 seconds, we ran at full speed.. so that was tiring. We realized that we had circled around.. and made it back to the original apartment we were at. We approached it, and creaked the door open. The lights outside had slightly reflected inside the apartment. There was no one. The room doors were wide open.. so we know that no one was in the rooms. Christian loudly sighed a sigh of relief.. although I'm pretty sure we all did. We settled in the living room, setting Maverick down, Christian sat in between me and Nicole. Ruby stared at Maverick for a second before sitting beside me aswell. It was silent.. as we all were still trying to catch our breath.
"Hey guys..? I'm not sure if it was just me, but.. I saw the REAL Ivy talking to the red haired woman near the elevator shaft.. when we stopped running.." Ruby explained. She seemed pretty worried..
I looked at her, and placed a hand on her shoulder. But before I could speak up, Christian cut me off.
"I did too.. actually. It was pretty clear, too.." Christian said, looking at Ruby past me. Ruby sighed.. and leaned back in her seat.
"This is gonna be a big problem.." she muttered. "Rexine knows that someone was disguised as her sister.. and to find out that ivy is actually working with them? She wouldn't believe it, would she?.." Ruby said with a heavy and sharp exhale, as she stared at the floor.
"I'm sure it'll be alright..." Nicole tried telling her, awkwardly. But we all knew Rexine well enough by now to know she wouldn't take it well. Unless she saw it for herself, that is, of course.
"We all know that statement is in vain, Nicole.." I replied, and Nicole sighed.
"Yeah.. she's not going to take it well at all.." Nicole stated, truthfully, this time.
"I think we have more than Rexine's reaction to worry about here." Christian said, looking at Maverick.. oh no.
Rexines pov:
Jesus, these halls are dimly lit. I'm walking through these hallways cautiously.. but I can't be cautious if I can't see anything.. At this point I have run into walls on my list of things I will probably run into.. I guess running after people I can't see but only hear is a stupid thing to do after all..
I walked around.. and eventually managed to find a door. I slowly opened it, the door creaking slightly. I made my way inside, and the lights were.. actually there! Jackpott!~ they were battery charged fairy lights, oddly enough. But, I could very well work with that. Infact, maybe if I digested it I would glow. Nevermind, that's stupid..
Anyway, it was pretty quiet until.. I heard someone's heavy footsteps running in the hallways, and I turned around to the slightly open door. I peeked through the crack, as the footsteps of the running got closer... Until I saw her. Ivy..? The REAL ivy..?
