Chapter 3 - AWAKENING

Levi was dressed in a silver royal attire top and black trousers. Wrapped around him is a silver coat that stopped at his stomach but went down behind his knees. On the coat's chest was the Orrin clan's crest. It was round and golden with the symbol of a closed eye. That was it, very simple, but it carried weight.

A knock came from the door, and knowing who it was, Levi just asked the person to enter.

"Happy birthday, young master Levi," Raven greeted with a smile as she approached Levi. Levi smiled. "Thank you."

They both walked out of the room, Levi leading, and Raven trailing behind. They were going to the awakening hall, the place where the awakening was going to take place.

As a descendant of the Orrin clan, there was no need to wait in line for hours just to awaken. He had a personal awakening stone waiting for him in the awakening hall.

Levi stopped in front of the huge and imposing double door. The door that led to his future. Raven walked to his front, placing her two hands on the door.

With a push, the two doors swung open, revealing the hall.

Levi looked dazed when he saw the hall. The question 'Does the people even know what a hall meant' entered his head.

The hall spanned over a hundred miles in sight. And chairs surrounded the entire place, which was even more ridiculous. How much wood and leather were needed to create so many chairs?

His thought did not stay long as Raven reminded him to enter.

Levi nodded and walked through the door with slow steps.

He turned back to notice that the door was shut already, and Raven was nowhere to be found.

'I guess she couldn't follow me into the hall,' Levi thought as he stared forward.

But his eyes shrank when he saw that only one person was in the hall.

His father sat calmly on the highest chair. He looked at Levi with warmth.

Levi blinked, and Chron was already in front of him.

Let's go, Chron pointed at the floating orb in the centre of the hall.

Levi nodded and grabbed Chron's hand. Before he could think, he had crossed the distance that spanned miles in an instant.

Although Levi knew it was because of how powerful Chron was, he still always felt that the speed was too much.

"You know the details, place your hand on the orb," Chron said.

Levi did as instructed and placed his hands on the orb.

Instantly, a surge of mana erupted from the orb enveloping Levi in its light.

The surrounding space was bathed in the light. But it did not disturb Chron, who could still see with perfect clarity.

"This is a super affinity," Chron marveled as he realized the light hadn't gone out for over 1 minute. As if it were a trigger, s Chron spoke, the light dimmed slowly. Then, in a burst, it faded.

Chron gazed at Levi as he opened his eyes. Instead of the normal silver. His silver pupils now had a golden crown on top of them. A black dot was in the centre of his silver pupils.

Looking at his eyes, laughter erupted from Chron. "You managed to awaken the Orrin eyes," he said.

Levi froze as he opened his eyes, but he snapped back when Chron spoke.

"Tell me, which affinity did you awaken?" Chron asked.

Levi nodded, focusing his thoughts inward, like he had read in books.

Instantly, the back of his palm glowed as two symbols appeared on it.

One was the symbol of infinity, and the other was the symbol of tiny hexagonal dots.

His eyes widened as he stared at them. The same could be said for his father. "Time and Nanites," Levi muttered, his voice shaking and barely audible.

A super affinity and a peak one; he did not expect either of them.

"Truly worthy of being my son," Chron said with excitement.

"I didn't get them from you," Levi said with a playful smile.

"What do you mean? You inherited your father's good genes," Chron quickly said, not wanting Levi to take Al the glory for himself.

They continued their argument till they reached Chron's office.

At this moment, the fearful god of moments was not there; it was just a father happy for his son.

"I give up," Chron declared, his hands raised in submission. "It is impossible to convince you, just like your mother."

Hearing the word mother, Levi's gaze faltered. Although he never met his mother, he had asked Raven about her numerous times.

He had learnt from Raven that his mother was a very kind woman who won Chron's heart because of her good deeds. Also, she failed to awaken any element, but Chron still married her. If she were stronger, Chron would have used all means to revive her.

Levi smiled. "What is wrong with taking after my mother?"

"Nothing," Chron said, not wanting to take the argument further.

They sat on the sofa calmly before they spoke again. "Do you want to go to the Imperial Academy?" Chron asked, his voice more serious.

"He wasn't going to force Levi to do what he didn't want."

Levi thought for some time. He had also thought about going to the academy. Since he reached this world, he had never left the Chron estate. Although he read about the world, that was only theory. He needed to see it for himself.

"Yes," he replied.

Chron smiled lightly. "For a moment, I thought you would reject it," Chron said.

"The Imperial Academy is the best place to nurture warriors."

Levi was aware; he just nodded.

"The admission is in six months. Do your best to get stronger," Chron encouraged. "If you need anything, meet Damien."

"Why can't I come to you directly?" Levi asked with furrowed brows.

A bitter smile escaped Chron's mouth. "The situation on the main battlefield is dire. I need to go there."

Levi understood what he meant, so he did not bother to argue.

They soon left themselves, and Levi went back to his room, Raven following closely behind him. But one thought lingered in his mind as he approached his door.
