Chapter 18 - FRIENDS

"Your forging skills are amazing," Atlas said with roaring laughter.

"It feels like he has been doing it before now," Blaze added.

Levi looked at both of them, his lips twitching slightly.

'Why are they talking like we've known each other for a long time?' He wondered.

Still, he did not ignore them; he smiled back and even spoke with them.

"What is your rank?" Levi asked.

"Rank 7," Atlas replied, flexing his muscles with pride.

"Rank 8," Blaze said.

Levi nodded. "I am ..."

Before he could complete his statement, Atlas cut him off.

"Everyone knows Levi Orrin, rank 1," he stated with a loud voice.

A smile tugged at Levi's lips at his utterance. 'Being at the top comes with its perks,' he mused.

They continued their discussion till they reached the dwelling area.

"Can we share our ID numbers?" Blaze asked.

"ID number?" Levi muttered, confused.

Seeing this, Blaze could not help but laugh. Even Atlas joined.

"What have you been using your assistant for?" Blaze furrowed his brows.

Hearing this question, Levi replied slowly. "As an alarm, for payments, etc."

"Each band comes with an ID number that can be used to communicate," Atlas said, clearly disappointed.

A dry smile escaped Levi's mouth at this. He was not to be blamed since he had never spoken to anyone in the academy, except these two.

'Max, what's my ID number?'

87432, Max's response came shortly after.

Levi recalled the exact numbers to them, and they copied them into their bands.

After exchanging farewells, they left for their mansions.

'I should get back to training,' Levi said as he walked towards his own mansion.

Soon, he reached there. Stepping inside, he was greeted by the home assistant.

Levi walked to his room, freshened up, and slipped into simple clothes.

"Vera, send me to the training area," he said to the home assistant.

Instantly, he felt the world blur, and he appeared in the same large field with trimmed grass.

"I still find it amazing that this is a simulation," Levi muttered.

He had asked Vera about the place during his stay here.

"Vera, send 2 demons at the master tier," he commanded, not wanting to waste time on thoughts.

With a mechanical chime, two humanoid beings with horns and crimson bodies that glowed with cracks appeared 50 meters away from Levi.

One held a huge black sword, and the other one wore red gauntlets with pointed tips.

Without any warning, they lunged. The floor broke as they charged, splintering into dust.

Levi did not wait; his figure streaked across to meet them.

Two swords formed in his hand. 'I would try using other affinities,' he thought.

Demon 1 brought his sword down above Levi with a crushing might, attempting to cleave him in a single strike.

But Levi was faster. His form blurred as arcs of orange lightning danced across his form.

He dodged the attack easily.

The sword came

Demon 1 brought his sabre down above Levi with crushing might, attempting to cleave him in a single strike.

But Levi was faster. His form blurred as arcs of orange lightning danced across his form.

He dodged the attack easily.

The sabre came down, breaking the earth with crushing force.

Levi did not stop; he drove his knee into its stomach, sending it flying.

He moved back, just in time to dodge Demon 2's swipe.

Levi turned to it, and as if they shared the same brain, they attacked.

Swords clashed with gauntlets, releasing shockwaves that reverberated like thunder as hundreds of blows were exchanged in mere seconds.

Levi suddenly stopped, appearing far from the demon.

Not long after, the sabre demon came, his sabre aimed to sever Levi's neck.

Levi smirked and brought his dual swords in an X shape to block.

The sabre hit his sword, sending a Jolt of pain in his muscles, but he did not talk; there was no time for speech in a battle.

Levi's swords extended, forming a scythe-like tip that pierced the demon in the chest sharply.

The demon wailed loudly, sending a loud shriek across the plain.

But Levi did not care; he simply moved towards the next enemy.

His sword transformed into gauntlets as they neared.

Their fists collided, creating a massive trench under them.

As if agreeing that the earth could not withstand their might, they launched into the sky like bullets.

Space seemed to hold its breath as they prepared for another attack.

Levi floated calmly in the sky, his eyes calm.

'It seems Vera only added that one as an extra; this is the real deal,' he made a mental note.

The demon got into a stance, ready to shred Levi into pieces.

Levi's lip curved slightly when he saw this. Then he got ready,

The temperature dropped sharply, easily reaching -24°c. They bolted again.

The sky seemed to scream as they crossed distances easily.

With a forceful clash, the wind erupted with a strong gale that sliced clouds into fogs.

The demon punched towards Levi's chest, but Levi twisted in an impossible position, dodging the blow by mere inches.

He did not wait; he countered, his leg shooting forward, aimed to destroy the demon's torso.

The demon leapt back, avoiding the blow, before he darted back, his fist clenched to deliver a blow.

As it neared, it felt like its hand froze as ice began to cover it rapidly.

Flames roared to life around the demon's arm, consuming the ice instantly.

It looked at where Levi stood previously, but saw nothing.

Its instincts screamed, alerting it to danger. But it was too late.

Levi appeared above it, delivering a heavy kick to its head.

The sound of nine breaking echoed through the air as the demon was propelled down with devastating force.

Levi looked at the demon clearly from where he was, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"That's all?" He asked with a disappointed tone. "I could not even use chronite," he said with a sigh.

Levi was frustrated, but there was nothing he could do; even Riven was no match for him again.

"I wonder how Aeon is doing in the pocket dimension," he wondered aloud as he exited the field.

He ate his food, which had been ordered by Vera earlier, and went to sleep.
