Chapter 22 - Genetic Testing

After leaving the prayer room, Marcus, under the supervision and guidance of several Ultramarines, returned to the previous room. Since Leandros hadn't detected any signs of Chaos on him, Marcus felt much more at ease.

This was partly because he no longer had to worry too much about the Imperial forces' suspicions. It was also because this at least proved that what he saw in his dreams were not malicious entities from the Warp.

Of course, Marcus did not completely lower his guard because of this. Leandros and Acheran were not the kind of people who would easily drop their guard against others, so he still had to constantly pay attention to his behavior. Furthermore, there was a slight possibility that Chaos power had concealed everything, which was why Leandros hadn't detected any signs of Chaos on him. But all in all, Marcus had now passed the first, and most difficult, hurdle.

With nothing to do, Marcus simply began his training in the small room. From the time he transmigrated until now, Marcus had already undergone two physical enhancements in a short period. However, he had not yet fully mastered his current superhuman strength. Taking advantage of this free time, Marcus decided to first train his control over his strength. This was to avoid the awkward situation of accidentally crushing someone's hand.

After the double enhancement of a weakened Super-Soldier Serum and the T-Virus enhancement agent, Marcus's pure muscle strength had reached about eight hundred kilograms. He could effortlessly lift the largest carnivorous animal on Earth, a polar bear, which is up to 2.5 meters long and covered in muscle and fat.

As for his running speed, neural reflex speed, and other aspects of his physical fitness, since there were no testing tools in the room, Marcus couldn't calculate the exact levels. However, it was definitely much stronger than during the first enhancement. Even some small-caliber gunpowder firearms could not break his tough skin now. If he were on a normal Earth, even just looking at his physical fitness, Marcus would definitely be a small superman-like existence. But unfortunately, Marcus was now in the Warhammer Universe...

After about ten minutes of training, a chanting of binary code and the sound of mechanical parts operating came from the corridor. The sound interrupted Marcus's training. He walked to the door and looked through the bars.

Several Tech-Priests, dressed in red robes and adorned with many mechanical prosthetics and modifications, were walking towards Marcus's room. Beside these Tech-Priests, there were also several mortal servants, holding strangely shaped mechanical devices.

After the Chaos detection, it was naturally time for gene detection. Although normal xenos could not escape the eyes of an Astartes Chaplain, the procedures promulgated by Roboute Guilliman still had to be followed.

After the Tech-Priests opened the door, they entered the room one after another. An Ultramarine also stood by, ensuring the smooth progress of the sampling work.

Unlike the simple ritual performed by Leandros earlier, the Adeptus Mechanicus's gene sampling method was much more complicated and rough. Before sampling, the Tech-Priests had to chant binary code to the sampling machine to appease the machine spirit. Afterward, the Tech-Priests used sampling needles to collect blood and even bone marrow samples from various parts of Marcus's body. The entire sampling process lasted for about an hour before it ended. Due to the Adeptus Mechanicus's overly simple and brutal method of taking gene samples, Marcus relied on his willpower not to cry out in pain.

Once the sampling was complete, everyone except Marcus left the room. Before leaving, a Tech-Priest uttered a string of binary language at Marcus. However, he quickly reacted, cleared his throat, and then spoke in High Gothic, which was perhaps a little rusty from not being spoken for a long time.

"I almost forgot you're a fellow not blessed by the Omnissiah."

The Tech-Priest pointed to the freshly collected sample in his hand and continued, "The entire testing process will take two hours."

Subsequently, the Tech-Priests ignored Marcus and left the corridor.

Although Marcus had previously undergone a double enhancement of the Super-Soldier Serum and the T-Virus enhancement agent, he was not worried that he would be classified as non-human by the Adeptus Mechanicus because of this. According to the instructions given by the system before using the enhancement agents, the two agents provided by the system were not for direct injection; rather, they were more like a direct result granted to Marcus after he chose to use them. For example, if the T-Virus enhancement agent were used directly, Marcus's body would be filled with the T-Virus, thereby achieving the purpose of enhancement. However, the system would directly erase this process, allowing Marcus to directly obtain the enhanced result.

Looking at the departing backs of the Tech-Priests, Marcus knew that he would soon be able to move freely. However, even with "free movement," Acheran would certainly still assign people to monitor him.

Standing in front of the iron door, Marcus tried to talk to the Ultramarine guarding him through the bars on the door. However, given that Marcus had not yet completed the testing process, the Ultramarine at the door merely turned his head to look at Marcus and did not speak.

Seeing that the other party did not respond, Marcus stopped trying and lay back on the bed, opening the system panel. Before this, due to lack of free time, Marcus had only roughly understood the basic functions of the system panel. This was the first time Marcus had free time to carefully study this thing that had transmigrated with him.

First, Marcus had previously undergone various tests, such as walking up to others, and even Tyranid, with the panel open. Even if the panel overlapped with the other party's eyes, they would not notice it. Therefore, Marcus determined that the blue virtual panel in front of him should only be visible to himself; at least, until now, only he had been able to see it.

The system panel was divided into many sections and interfaces. Among them, the task interface, gacha interface, illustration interface, and title interface had already been used by Marcus. The task interface was responsible for issuing various tasks and providing various rewards. The gacha interface allowed for item draws, with completely random results. The illustration interface allowed for collecting illustrations through various means and then summoning various units that completely obeyed him. The title system provided various titles with attributes, indirectly enhancing his strength.

There was also a storage interface, which could store items out of thin air. However, according to the system description, only items obtained from the system panel could be stored in the warehouse. The plasma cutter that Marcus had drawn earlier was now stored in the system warehouse.

In addition to these interfaces, there were also several gray, locked interfaces on the system panel. After Marcus tried clicking on these interfaces, a pro

mpt immediately popped up on the system panel.

"Current permissions are insufficient. Please complete all main quests in the first world to increase permissions"

Upon seeing this prompt, Marcus's mouth twitched slightly. He complained inwardly: "Isn't this just a roundabout way of saying 'come back to explore this area later'?"
