Chapter 23 - Decision

Two hours later.

Several Tech-Priests brought the inspection reports to the bridge of the Severian. They approached Captain Acheran, who was directing operations.

"So, the test results show that he is indeed a pure human?" Acheran temporarily paused his tactical deployment and looked at the Tech-Priests beside him.

One Tech-Priest, flipping through the report in his hand, added: "Yes, not only that, but the gene-seed primarch test also revealed that the individual is not Cadian, but instead has ancestry from the Cliff Mountain Sector."

Acheran didn't pay much attention to this point. After all, since Cadia was destroyed by the Chaos Warmaster Abaddon with the Blackstone Fortress, there have been no truly native Cadians. The various Cadian regiments that currently exist are filled with many soldiers conscripted from various worlds by the Adeptus Ministorum. Moreover, Marcus had previously told Major Sarkaana that his current body came from the Cliff Mountain Sector. And after Titus relayed the information, Acheran naturally already knew about it.

"What about the Adeptus Ministorum? Have you contacted them?" Acheran looked at an Ultramarines beside him.

He shook his head and said, "The Warp shadow of the Hive Mind covers this area, making it difficult to send astropathic communications to the outside world. However, according to the soldiers who survived the Cadia Eighth, the individual was indeed one of the soldiers recently supplemented into the regiment by the Adeptus Ministorum. And there were no abnormal performances in the battles before Kadaku."

Acheran frowned and continued to ask, "What about the data records? Does the Cadia Eighth still have data records about his transfer?"

"Unfortunately, the place where the data records were stored was destroyed by the Tyranid. And as you know, with the work efficiency of those guys from the Adeptus Ministorum, it's not even certain if they entered the data." The Ultramarines answered Acheran's question and also mocked the Adeptus Ministorum.

"Hmm." Acheran nodded, deep in thought for a moment.

Since Marcus had initially passed the Battle Group Chaplain's Chaos test and the Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priests' gene-seed primarch test, proving himself to be a pure human untainted by Chaos, then, according to the instructions of the great gene-seed primarch, Roboute Guilliman, such individuals would be allowed to move in certain areas of Imperial starships under supervision. If an emergency situation like a troop shortage occurred, the Imperium would throw such people onto the battlefield, serving as a supplement to combat strength. And according to later reports, if the individual was truly blessed by the Emperor, they would generally survive intense battlefields.

Thinking of this, Acheran said, "First, send two people to follow him, keep the psychic suppressor on, and allow him to move in the general areas of the battle barge. When Titus returns next time, have him go with Titus to Avarax to execute a mission."

The Ultramarines beside Acheran immediately nodded after hearing this, saluted, and then exited the bridge. And those Tech-Priests also exited the bridge after completing their reports.

One of them, before leaving, turned and asked Acheran, "Lord Acheran, is there still no news from the Archmagos Nozick?"

"I have already had Titus take men to recover the data and bring him back." At this, Acheran snorted coldly. Because Nozick stubbornly refused to evacuate Kadaku before recovering the data, to ensure his safe evacuation, the entire Imperial fleet had to waste a lot of time on Kadaku. This caused the situation on the nearby Hive City world, Avarax, to become more severe by the minute. If he wasn't the Archmagos of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and also the main person in charge of the "Aurora" project personally approved by the gene-seed primarch, Acheran wouldn't bother with his life or death.

After receiving Acheran's reply, that Tech-Priest said nothing more, only slowly exited the bridge.

Looking out at the boundless space from the bridge, and the massive Imperial fleet surrounding the Severian, Acheran did not feel at ease. Acheran, who had fought against various monsters in the galaxy, knew that with just the current Imperial fleet, it would be impossible to contend with the endless Tyranid invading the Recidious Star System.

Since conventional combat methods could not achieve victory, Acheran intended to use some special powers. After discussing with the other Commanders in the Imperial fleet, everyone unanimously decided to activate the "Aurora" project, using the power of psychic calamity to destroy all Tyranid creatures within the system. And the key figure to activate the project was the Adeptus Mechanicus Archmagos , Nozick.

Hopefully, Titus and his team can successfully complete the mission. Acheran thought to himself.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Severian, in front of Marcus's small room.

Two Ultramarines opened the iron door and entered the room. After Marcus got up from the bed, one of them spoke to Marcus, "According to Lord Acheran's orders, you can now move within limited areas of the ship under our supervision."

Marcus nodded, indicating he understood. Then he asked the two Ultramarines in front of him: "Where on the ship is there a place that can test physical fitness levels?"

The two Ultramarines said nothing, simply led Marcus out of the room, one in front and one behind, walking in a certain direction. Along the way, led by the two Ultramarines, Marcus once again felt the immense size of the entire battle barge.

After passing through several compartments with completely different appearances and functions, the two Ultramarines led Marcus to a large room. And inside the room, several seemingly complex machines were placed. Beside these machines, there was also a Tech-Priest in a red robe, directing several mortal servants to clean.

Upon hearing the movement behind him, the Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest slowly turned his head, and revealed a face that was mostly modified with mechanical parts.

"Sir, may I ask your name?" Marcus spoke first.

The Tech-Priest was silent for a moment, then let out a slightly hoarse voice: "Just call me Father Hohn."

Marcus nodded, first giving a brief self-introduction. Then he continued, "Father Hohn, I hope to test my physical fitness level."

After Marcus expressed his intention to test his physical fitness, the Tech-Priest named Hohn looked at the two Ultramarines behind Marcus, secretly a little surprised. He wondered what Marcus's background was, to have two Ultramarines responsible for supervision.

However, without delving deeper, Hohn immediately lit the ritual incense. Then he led the surrounding mortal servants in chanting repetitive binary code, beginning to appease the machine spirit within the instruments, to restart these machines and allow them to operate normally.
