Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Beginning of a New Journey

The last thing Leo Morgan remembered before everything went black was the dull hum of his computer fan and the stale taste of the soda he had left open too long. His life, in all honesty, wasn't anything worth writing home about. A normal guy, normal hobbies, normal world. At least, that's how he saw it.

But "normal" had a funny way of disappearing when you least expected it.

When his vision returned, Leo wasn't in his cluttered bedroom anymore. He floated weightlessly in an endless void. Darkness stretched on forever in every direction, yet somehow it didn't feel empty. The air—if it even was air—vibrated with energy. He wasn't afraid. Confused, yes. But strangely… calm.

A voice echoed across the nothingness. Deep, amused, playful.

"Well, look at you. Another one picked from the infinite sea of possibilities."

Leo spun in place, searching for the source. The void shimmered, and then—suddenly—there was a figure before him. Not man, not beast, not god, but some impossible mixture. Its form flickered constantly, as though it couldn't decide on a shape. Sometimes it was cloaked, sometimes winged, sometimes just a pair of glowing eyes.

Leo's throat went dry. "Uh… hello?"

The figure chuckled. "Relax. You're not dead. Yet. Call me what you want—fate, chance, destiny, or, if you've read too many webnovels… R.O.B. Random Omnipotent Being."

Leo blinked. "…you're kidding."

The being leaned closer, its grin widening. "Do I look like I'm kidding?"

For a moment, Leo wasn't sure if the thing had a face at all, but he could feel the grin in the air itself.

"I don't—what do you want with me?" Leo asked.

"Want?" R.O.B laughed, and the void shook like thunder. "That's the best part, boy. I don't want anything. This isn't about me. This is about you. A little gift. A push. A chance to live a life worth remembering."

Leo frowned. "You're… sending me to another world, aren't you?"

"Sharp one, aren't you?" R.O.B said, amused. "Yes. A world you know well. A world of mystery, danger, humor, and—if you're bold enough—romance. Gravity Falls."

Leo's jaw dropped. "Gravity Falls? The cartoon?"

"Oh, it's no cartoon where you're going. It's real. As real as anything else. And because I'm generous…" The being snapped its fingers—or maybe it clapped, or maybe reality itself bent; Leo couldn't tell. A glowing blue screen appeared in front of him, filled with text.

[SYSTEM INITIALIZED]Welcome, Leo Morgan. You have been chosen to participate in the Infinite Omniversal Journey.World: Gravity FallsMission: Live. Explore. Grow stronger. Have fun.Warning: Fun is mandatory.

Leo gawked. "Wait—you're giving me a System? Like… an isekai protagonist?"

R.O.B. smirked—or at least gave off the feeling of smirking. "What better way to survive the weirdness of Gravity Falls than with a little boost? Don't say I never did anything nice."

Leo opened his mouth to argue, but the void around him suddenly pulled. Light swallowed everything.

"Enjoy yourself, kid," R.O.B. said, his voice fading. "Oh, and try not to die too fast. That'd be boring."

And then—

When Leo's eyes opened, the first thing he noticed was the smell.

Pine trees. Fresh dirt. The faint scent of smoke in the distance.

He was standing on a dirt road, surrounded by towering evergreens that swayed gently in the breeze. The sunlight filtered down in warm golden rays, and a wooden sign leaned at the side of the road, half-buried in weeds.

WELCOME TO GRAVITY FALLS

Leo's heart skipped a beat. He knew this place. He knew it far too well.

"Oh my god," he whispered. "It's real."

The System pinged in front of him again, startling him.

[Quest Unlocked: First Steps]Objective: Explore Gravity Falls.Reward: Tutorial completed.

Leo let out a shaky laugh. "I can't believe this. I'm actually… here."

He glanced around, trying to orient himself. If the geography matched the show, then somewhere down this road should be…

And there it was.

The Mystery Shack.

Leo felt a rush of excitement he hadn't felt since he was a kid. The wooden building stood crooked and proud, with its giant neon sign flickering stubbornly against the daylight. From here, he could already hear the faint voice of someone shouting inside—probably Grunkle Stan scamming another tourist.

Leo grinned. This is insane. But if the System's serious, then I'm really part of this world now.

He started toward the Shack, his sneakers crunching on the gravel road. His pulse quickened with every step. He'd watched the show. He knew the people here. But now… he was about to meet them.

The porch creaked as he stepped up to the door. Before he could knock, the door slammed open with sudden force.

A girl bounded out, wearing a neon pink sweater covered in glittery stars. Her braces sparkled in the sunlight as she smiled brightly.

"Hi there!" she chirped. "Are you lost? Or are you here for the world's most mysterious shack?"

Leo froze. His brain short-circuited.

Mabel Pines. She's real. She's actually standing in front of me.

The System chimed.

[New Encounter: Mabel Pines]

Danger Level: Low

Friendship Potential: High

Romance Potential: …Really? You want me to calculate that already?

Leo nearly coughed out his lungs. "What?!"

Mabel blinked. "What?"

Before Leo could come up with an excuse, another voice called from inside. "Mabel? Who are you talking to?"

Out stepped a boy in a blue vest, brown shorts, and a trucker hat marked with a pine tree. His hands were full of books, his expression already suspicious.

Dipper Pines.

Leo's throat tightened. He knew this kid. He knew everything Dipper was about to go through.

But Dipper didn't know him.

"Uh…" Leo raised a hand awkwardly. "Hi. Name's Leo. I, uh… I'm kinda new in town."

Dipper's eyes narrowed. "New in town?"

Before the interrogation could continue, Stan's booming voice echoed from inside. "Mabel! Dipper! Stop letting strangers loiter unless they've got wallets!"

Mabel giggled, then waved Leo inside. "Come on in, mysterious stranger! You're just in time for the tour!"

Leo blinked. Wait. Tour?

The System chimed again.

[Quest Unlocked: First Impression Matters]Objective: Earn the trust of the Mystery Shack residents.Reward: +10 Reputation with the Pines Family.Failure: Awkward stares. Possible eviction.

Leo swallowed hard. "Oh boy…"

______________

The interior of the Mystery Shack was everything Leo expected—dusty, cluttered, and covered in props that looked like they had been dug out of a thrift store's trash pile. Mysterious "artifacts" lined every corner, each with a little sign explaining their totally real magical properties. Leo grinned. He had watched it a hundred times on TV, but standing inside it now? Surreal.

Mabel skipped ahead, arms spread wide. "Welcome to the Mystery Shack, the world's most mysterious place! That's totally true because it says so on the sign."

Dipper rolled his eyes. "Don't exaggerate, Mabel. It's more like the world's most scam-filled place."

"Hey!" came a gruff voice. From behind the counter emerged Grunkle Stan, dressed in his usual suit and fez, money already in hand. His eyes immediately locked onto Leo like a predator spotting prey.

"New face!" Stan's grin widened. "I smell… tourist money."

Leo opened his mouth to explain, but Stan was already pushing him toward a rack of "souvenirs."

"Look at these beauties! Genuine Bigfoot toenail clippings, only $49.99. And this? A petrified woodchuck heart. Only one left!"

Leo laughed nervously. "Uh… I didn't exactly bring—"

The System pinged.

[Sub-Quest Activated: Survive Stan's Sales Pitch]Objective: Escape without going broke.Reward: +5 Reputation with Stan if successful.Failure: Lose half your starting cash.

Leo blinked. Wait, I have cash?

He checked his inventory. Sure enough, he had a starter wallet with $100.

Stan was practically drooling already. "So, kid, what'll it be? The toenails or the heart?"

Before Leo could answer, Soos lumbered out from the back room, carrying a giant box labeled Definitely Not Cursed.

"Hey dudes!" Soos said cheerfully, setting the box down. "Whoa, new guy! What's up, man? You here for the tour? Don't worry, I gotchu."

Leo's shoulders relaxed a little. Finally, someone who didn't look ready to rob him blind.

Stan grunted. "Soos, don't scare off the customers. This one's fresh!"

Mabel bounced in front of Leo. "Don't worry, Leo! We'll protect you from Grunkle Stan's evil salesman powers."

"Hey!" Stan barked.

"...Mostly," she added with a giggle.

The System chimed again.

[System Hint: Building trust with Mabel + Dipper requires standing up to Stan at least once.]

Leo smirked. He turned to Stan. "Sorry, Mr. Pines, but I think I'll pass on the toenails. I don't really… collect feet."

Mabel burst into laughter so loud she nearly fell over. Even Dipper smirked, though he quickly tried to hide it.

Stan stared at Leo, deadpan. Then he shrugged. "Eh. Can't win 'em all. Fine, but you're taking the tour. That's non-negotiable."

The Tour of Weirdness

Soos dimmed the lights dramatically. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome… to the Mystery Shack!"

Leo tried not to grin as he followed the Pines twins through the main hall. He had seen this before, but in person, every detail was ten times weirder. There was the Fiji Mermaid (a fish stapled to a monkey), the Shrunken Head collection (plastic), and of course, the Sasquatch Wax Figure that looked suspiciously like a cheap mannequin in a wig.

Mabel whispered loudly into Leo's ear. "Most of this stuff is fake. Don't tell Grunkle Stan I told you."

"Hey!" Stan snapped from across the room. "No spoilers during the tour!"

Leo chuckled. The System popped up again.

[Reputation Update: Mabel Pines +2 | Dipper Pines +1][Quest Progress: First Impression Matters – 25% Complete]

The tour dragged on for a while, filled with Stan's questionable commentary. But Leo wasn't bored. Every detail felt important. Every step made this place feel more real.

Finally, the group ended up back in the gift shop, where Wendy was lazily leaning against the counter, chewing gum and flipping through a magazine.

She looked up and raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Who's the new guy?"

Leo felt his cheeks heat up. Wendy Corduroy. In the flesh. The sarcastic, effortlessly cool redhead every fan of the show had once crushed on.

"Uh, hey," Leo said, trying not to sound awkward. "Leo. I'm… new around here."

"Cool," she said with a shrug. "Don't let Stan rip you off too hard. He's like a vampire, but for money."

"HEY!" Stan shouted from the other room.

Wendy smirked and went back to her magazine.

The System chimed again.

[New Encounter: Wendy Corduroy]

Danger Level: Low

Friendship Potential: Medium

Romance Potential: …Buddy, she's way out of your league right now.

Leo's eye twitched. "...Are you serious?"

Mabel tugged on his arm. "Don't mind the floating blue thingy! Leo's just quirky like me!"

Dipper frowned. "Wait. Floating… what thingy?"

Leo froze. Right. They couldn't see the System. Only he could.

"Uh…" He forced a smile. "Just, uh… talking to myself! I do that sometimes."

Dipper narrowed his eyes. Leo could almost hear the gears in his head turning.

The System gave a warning.

[Alert: Dipper Pines suspects you.]Recommendation: Gain his trust before he investigates further.

Great. Just great.

Later, as the Shack emptied of tourists, Leo found himself sitting on the steps outside with Mabel and Dipper. The sun dipped low behind the trees, casting long shadows across the clearing.

"So," Mabel said, swinging her legs. "You're new in town, huh? Where are you staying?"

Leo hesitated. He hadn't exactly thought about that. Did the System give him a house? A hotel room? He pulled up his inventory and checked.

[Housing: None]

…Fantastic.

"Um," Leo scratched the back of his head. "I don't really… have a place yet."

Mabel gasped dramatically. "What?! You can't just wander the streets! That's, like, totally against the rules of being a human!"

Dipper frowned. "Mabel, that's not—"

"Not negotiable!" she cut in. She turned back to Leo. "You're staying with us."

Dipper's eyes widened. "Mabel!"

"What?" she pouted. "It's summer! We have room! Plus, Leo's funny. He can sleep on the floor. Or in Waddles' pen."

The System chimed.

[Quest Update: First Impression Matters – 75% Complete][Temporary Housing Unlocked: Mystery Shack Guest]

Leo smiled faintly. "Thanks, Mabel. Really. I owe you one."

Mabel beamed. Dipper muttered something about "strangers" and "risk factors," but even he didn't argue too hard.

Leo leaned back, watching the sun disappear behind the trees. His first day in Gravity Falls was almost over, and already, he had a place to stay, allies at his side, and a System promising adventure.

And somewhere, in the back of his mind, he swore he felt something watching him from the forest.

A chill ran down his spine.

The System flickered.

[Warning: Unknown Entity Detected.]

Leo frowned, staring into the trees.

His new life was just beginning.

__________

That night, the Mystery Shack was quieter than Leo expected. Crickets chirped outside, and the creak of the old building echoed faintly through the halls. The air smelled faintly of dust, old wood, and pine.

Mabel had set up a sleeping bag for him in the attic, right next to hers. "You can stay here until you find your own place!" she said, patting it proudly. "Waddles is fine with it. Right, Waddles?"

The pig snorted, then promptly flopped onto Leo's sleeping bag like it was his throne.

"…Guess I'll share," Leo muttered, scratching the pig's head.

"See?" Mabel grinned. "Waddles already likes you. That means you're cool. Dipper's just being paranoid."

From across the room, Dipper lowered his journal. "I'm not paranoid. I just don't trust strangers who randomly show up in Gravity Falls without an explanation."

Leo chuckled nervously, trying not to show how much Dipper's words cut. The kid wasn't wrong. He was a stranger. Worse, he couldn't exactly explain the truth without sounding insane.

The System pinged.

[Optional Quest: Gain Dipper's Trust]

Objective: Prove your reliability to Dipper Pines.

Reward: +10 Reputation with Dipper, Unlock "Investigator's Bond."

Failure: Dipper will actively investigate you.

Leo swallowed hard. Yeah. No pressure.

Midnight Disturbance

Hours later, Leo lay awake in his sleeping bag, staring at the slanted roof of the attic. Mabel and Waddles snored softly beside him, while Dipper's breathing was steady and quiet.

But Leo couldn't relax.

The System kept flickering faintly in front of his eyes, glitching slightly.

[Warning: Unknown Entity Detected – Signal Weakening]

He sat up slowly, his heart racing. The warning pointed toward the window, where the dark forest beyond seemed to ripple unnaturally.

Curiosity won out. He carefully slipped out of the attic, down the creaky stairs, and outside into the cool night air.

The Shack loomed behind him as he stepped into the treeline. Shadows danced between the trunks. The air felt thicker, heavier.

"Hello?" he whispered. "Is someone there?"

The System pinged.

[Quest Activated: First Battle]Objective: Defeat the intruding entity.Reward: +50 EXP, Starter Ability Unlock.Failure: Death.

"…Wait. Death?!"

Before he could argue, the bushes rustled violently. Something lunged out at him—something that looked like a raccoon, except its eyes glowed a sickly green and its body shimmered as though glitching between shapes.

Leo stumbled back. "Oh, come on—mutant raccoons?!"

The System overlaid text across his vision.

[Enemy Identified: Minor Anomaly Beast – Rank F]

Health: 25/25

Ability: Illusory Bite

Leo's body moved before his brain caught up. He ducked as the creature swiped at him with claws that crackled faintly with green energy. Instinct screamed at him to run—but the System offered a new option.

[Choose Starting Ability:]

Strength Boost (Melee damage +10%)

Quickstep (Short-range dodge skill)

Energy Spark (Minor ranged attack)

Leo didn't think twice. "Quickstep!"

The System chimed. [Ability Acquired.]

The next swipe came faster, but Leo felt a sudden rush of energy in his legs. His body blurred to the side, narrowly avoiding the claws. His heart pounded, but adrenaline surged through him.

He grabbed a fallen branch, gripping it like a makeshift weapon. "Alright, raccoon-from-hell… let's dance."

The fight was clumsy, desperate. Leo wasn't trained, but with Quickstep giving him bursts of agility, he dodged most of the beast's lunges. Finally, with one desperate swing, he brought the branch down on its head.

The creature let out a distorted shriek before dissolving into black smoke.

The forest went quiet again.

The System pinged.

[Enemy Defeated.]+50 EXPLevel Up! (Lv. 1 → Lv. 2)New Stat Points Acquired: 5

Leo panted, dropping the broken branch. His hands trembled, but a grin spread across his face. He had done it. He had fought something real.

But his victory was short-lived.

From the treeline, a soft, echoing chuckle drifted through the air.

"Well, well…"

Leo froze. The voice wasn't human. It wasn't animal. It was… wrong.

"You're new."

The shadows bent unnaturally, forming a faint triangular outline in the air. An eye blinked open within it, glowing faintly gold before vanishing.

Leo's blood ran cold.

"…Bill Cipher."

The System glitched violently, spitting error messages across his vision.

[ERROR: Entity Beyond System Parameters Detected.][WARNING: DO NOT ENGAGE.]

The laughter faded into the night, leaving only silence.

Leo stumbled back toward the Shack, his chest tight. He had survived his first fight, but one thing was clear:

Bill already knew he existed.

And that meant trouble was only just beginning.

________________________

Leo crept back toward the Shack, careful not to step on twigs. His heart was still racing from the fight, and Bill's laughter echoed faintly in his mind. He hadn't expected to encounter the dream demon so soon—much less have his System panic at the sight of him.

The front porch creaked under his sneakers as he eased the door open. The Shack was dark and quiet, save for Stan's distant snoring. He exhaled in relief—

"Where were you?"

Leo nearly jumped out of his skin.

Dipper stood at the bottom of the stairs, flashlight in hand, Journal #3 tucked under his arm. His expression was sharp, suspicious.

Leo froze. "…Uh. Bathroom?"

Dipper's eyes narrowed. "Outside? In the middle of the forest?"

"…Nature called?" Leo offered weakly.

The silence that followed could have frozen lava.

Before Dipper could push further, Mabel's voice rang down the stairs. "Leo! Did you sneak out to fight raccoon demons without me?!"

Leo's brain short-circuited. "What—how—"

Mabel tumbled down the last few steps, hair wild, holding a glitter-covered flashlight. "I totally saw you through the window, dude! You were all like 'whoosh, dodge, BAM!' and then it went poof! Why didn't you wake me up?!"

Dipper's jaw dropped. "You… saw him fighting something?!"

"Yup!" Mabel said proudly, then gasped dramatically. "Leo's a superhero! Like… BatGuy! Or Pine Tree Man! Or—"

"Mabel," Dipper interrupted, face pale. He turned to Leo. "What are you?"

Leo's stomach knotted. This was it. He couldn't keep dodging forever. But if he told Dipper the truth—that he wasn't from this world, that some cosmic troll handed him a System—would they even believe him?

The System pinged suddenly.

[Emergency Choice Triggered]Tell Dipper the truth: High risk, High reward.Lie convincingly: Safer, but trust gain limited.Deflect with Mabel's nonsense: May cause chaos.

Leo rubbed his face. Thanks, System. Super helpful.

He glanced at Dipper's piercing stare, then at Mabel's goofy grin. Finally, he said: "I… can't explain everything. Not yet. But… I promise I'm not here to hurt anyone. I just… want to live."

Dipper studied him for a long moment, suspicion warring with curiosity.

The System chimed.

[Quest Update: Gain Dipper's Trust – 50% Progress.]

Mabel, unconcerned, draped her arm around Leo's shoulder. "See? He's fine. Now let's all go back to bed before Grunkle Stan wakes up and charges Leo rent!"

Dipper groaned. "This isn't over." But he turned off his flashlight and headed upstairs.

Mabel winked at Leo. "Don't worry. I've got your back, new bro."

Leo smiled faintly. "…Thanks, Mabel."

The First Daily Quest

Later, as Leo finally sank into his sleeping bag, the System flickered again.

[Daily Quest Unlocked: Beginner's Routine]

Do 50 pushups.

Do 50 situps.

Do 50 squats.

Run one mile.Reward: +2 Strength, +2 Stamina, +10 EXP.Failure: -5 Reputation with yourself.

Leo stared at the glowing text. "…Seriously? You're giving me anime workouts now?"

Mabel snored loudly beside him, hugging Waddles like a teddy bear. Dipper muttered something in his sleep about "interdimensional anomalies."

Leo closed his eyes, a laugh bubbling out of him despite everything.

"Alright, System," he whispered. "Guess we're really doing this."

For the first time in years, he felt alive.

And though the mysteries of Gravity Falls loomed ahead, though Bill Cipher already had his eye on him, though danger lurked in every shadow…

Leo Morgan was ready.

His new journey had only just begun.
