Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 The Boy

( (Y/N)'s POV)

It's already been 2 days of being in this stuffy room, bored out of my mind. "The only person that's come to see me is that creepy puppet when it brings me food... Naraku hasn't even come to see me or told me to do anything." I think, but then I jump up from the table and turn towards the door.

"Why should I care if he comes or not?! I'm done sitting around!" I declare as I make my way out of the room and begin to walk through the castle. "I thought this castle seemed quiet. I haven't seen one single person or demon. I mean, even if this is a demon castle, wouldn't there still be advisors or servants?" I wonder as I glance around, while finally making it outside.

"I feel like I was walking forever..." I trail off and let out a sigh as I look over and see a boy in the middle of the courtyard, causing my eyes to widen. "A young boy? Is he another person Naraku's saved as well?" I wonder as I begin walking towards him.

"Hey- I go to call out but am interrupted by a weapon barely missing me. I glance over to see a Sickle with a chain attached to it, causing me to follow the chain all the way over to the young boy.

"Intruders will die!" The boy bellows as he turns to me with lifeless eyes. "Is this boy a puppet too...? No, this boy has a presence, but it's as if he's hollow." I think, but then the boy pulls back the sickle into his hand.

"Whoa, hold on, kid. I'm not an intruder-" Interrupting me once again, the boy throws his Sickle, but then I feel pain on my cheek, causing me to bring my hand to my cheek. Pulling my hand away, a bright red liquid on it, causing me to grin.

"Fine. Have it your way, kid." I whisper as I pull my knife out that I had hidden and begin rushing towards him. Pulling back his Sickle, the kid tries to hit me from behind, causing me to quickly dodge, and I go to get behind him. Suddenly jumping away, the kid dodges my advance and goes to throw his sickle at me once again.

"Enough, Kohaku!" A voice I know all too well rings out, causing the kid to pull his Sickle that was heading towards me back by the chain and rush over and bow to Naraku, who was standing on the porch.

"Master Naraku," Kohaku says, causing me to put on a confused expression. "Something doesn't feel right here..." I think as I put on a confused expression as I stared over at Naraku, causing him to turn towards me.

"You're injured." Naraku points out as he begins to walk over to me and goes to place his hand on my cheek, but I step back, causing his eyes to widen a bit.

"What's wrong with that boy?" I ask, causing him to let out a sigh.

"He must have scared you," Naraku answers as he turns and looks over at the boy, who was walking away.

"Kohaku thinks of my words as absolute since I saved him, and he doesn't have memories just as you, so I let him stay here as long as he guards the castle against intruders," Naraku explains as he turns back to me and stares at my wounded cheek. "I want to trust his words, but that boy's eyes were lifeless as if he were a mindless puppet." I think as I stare over at the direction the boy left with a worried expression.

"I must have forgotten to inform him of your presence, but don't worry, Kohaku won't attack you again," Naraku informs me as he places his hand underneath the gash on my cheek and wipes some of the blood away, causing me to look over at him.

"You don't have to-"

"Allow me to help you with your injury, seeing as it was my negligence that caused this." Naraku insists, causing me to stay silent for a moment, but then nod.

"I would appreciate it," I say, causing Naraku to take his hand away from my face and use his other hand to guide me into the castle. "My feeling about this man is so contradictory..." I think as we enter his room.

"Stay here," Naraku instructs as he walks out of the room for a moment and then comes back with medical supplies.

"I'm surprised..." I trail off as Naraku is rubbing a gel onto my wound, which causes him to glance over at me.

"Of what?" Naraku questions as he narrows his eyes at me.

"I would think even if you're a Demon, you wouldn't want to stay in such an empty castle. I mean, you're the lord of this castle, and here you are giving me first aid instead of a servant." I respond as he withdraws his hand from my cheek.

"Oh shit. Sorry, that sounded really rude!" I apologize, but Naraku then chuckles.

"I've been quite used to doing things myself," Naraku states as he bandages my cheek, as I stare at him.

"Why did you..." I trail off, causing Naraku to look over at me, causing me to quickly throw my hands up in front of me.

"Ha ha, Nevermind. It was nothing!" I chirp as I jump up to my feet.

"Thank you." I think as I quickly rush out of the room. "I was going to ask him why he saved me, but I feel as if that would have been really rude." I think as I entered my room and threw myself onto my futon.

(To Naraku POV)

Starring down at my hand that still had that Mortal woman's blood on it, I grit my teeth. "Kohaku was supposed to kill her... Why did I stop him!?" I think, while walking out of my room and out to my garden. Bending down to the pond beside the purple flowers, I somehow tolerate and glare down at my bloodied hand. "Once I saw her injured, I was unable to keep still." I think as I clench my fist and place it into the pond.

"Servants, huh?" I ask as I watch her blood swirl around my hand. "You appear to be useful, so I'll let you live for now, Mortal." I think as a smirk spreads across my lips.

(To (Y/N) POV)

A little girl with black short hair came to view as she was carrying a ball and rushing towards me.

"(Y/N), let's play!" The little girl chirps, but as she comes closer, I am unable to make out her face.

"Okay." A childish voice sounds out from myself as I reach out a grab the ball and see my hands were tiny. "Why are my hands so small and my voice sounds like this?" I wonder as I then throw the ball back to the girl.

"(Y/N)." A woman's voice sounds out, causing me to look over to see a woman in pants and a t-shirt standing there with a smile.

"It's time to go start packing." A man in a suit, who was standing beside the woman, insists. "Why are all these people in such weird attire?" I wonder, but then the scene begins to change into a being inside a weird contraption.

"(Y/N), please..." The woman trails off with tears in her eyes as she goes to touch me, but falls unconscious. Pulling me out of the dream, I quickly sit up and am covered in sweat.

W-what the... hell?" I ask as I sit up, but tears are falling down my face. "Were those memories?" I wonder as I go to wipe them, but I feel a presence.

"Who's there?!" I exclaim as I look over to see the boy Kohaku standing there, but he is different.

"Are you okay, miss (Y/N)?" Kohaku questions as he walked into my room with a worried expression. "He has emotion, but he was lifeless yesterday. What's going on?" I wonder, but as I feel another tear begin to fall, it causes me to quickly clear my throat and wipe the tears away.

"Oh, uh, yeah. I think I just had a bad dream. Um, what's up?" I ask, but then the boy drops to the floor, bowing to me.

"I'm deeply sorry for my actions yesterday!" Kohaku apologizes, causing me to put my hands up and shake them.

"It's okay, you don't have to bow to me." I insist, causing him to look up at me with a confused expression.

"But I-" I interrupt Kohaku by standing up from my futon with a smile.

"Don't worry about it. You're actually pretty good with your chained Sickle, Kohaku." I respond, causing his eyes to widen as if he had never been praised before. "It's as if this kid has a split personality or something, but this side of him is pretty cute." I think, the boy then put on an embarrassed expression.

"Am I really?" Kohaku asks as he stands up, and I point to my cheek.

"I'm pretty sure, kid." I tease, causing him to put on a scared expression.

"I'm sorry, I injured you!" Kohaku bows, causing me to chuckle.

"I already said don't worry about it. Hey, how about being my sparring partner?" I requested, causing him to look up with a confused expression.

"Are you sure?" Kohaku questions, and I nod.

"Yeah, I can't just sit around and get rusty," I respond, and he smiles.

"Master Naraku, will he approve?" Kohaku asks, causing me to put on a thoughtful expression, but then I grab onto Kohaku's hand.

"Well, instead of standing around wondering, let's go ask him," I answer as I lead Kohaku to Naraku's room.

"Naraku, are you in here?" I call out as I look around, while walking into the room.

"What is it? Naraku's voice rings out from behind him, causing Kohaku to tense up and let go of my hand. "It looks more as if Kohaku's frightened of him than thankful to him." I think as I stare over at Kohaku.

"Did Kohaku cause you more trouble again?" Naraku asks as he glares over at Kohaku, causing me to move in front of Kohaku, while shaking my head.

"No, he didn't. I was actually coming to ask if I could use him as a sparring partner." I answer, causing Naraku's eyes to widen.

"Sparring partner?" Naraku questions, and I nod.

"Yeah, so I don't get rusty and be of use to find the shards," I respond with a grin, causing Naraku to go silent for a moment.

"Kohaku," Naraku calls out, causing Kohaku to walk out from behind me with a nervous expression.

"Y-yes, Master Naraku?" Kohaku asks as he stares down at the floor, not daring to make eye contact.

"From today on, you're her personal guard." Naraku commands, causing Kohaku to kneel and my eyes to widen.

"Yes, Master Naraku. I will guard her with my life." Kohaku vows.

"Personal Guard?" I question, causing Naraku to walk over to me.

"Kohaku is yours to command from now on," Naraku responds, causing me to feel conflicted as I glance over to Kohaku, who looked as if he was giving me puppy eyes, and I sigh as I look up at Naraku and nod.

"Thank you," I answer, and Kohaku smiles at me. "I feel as if I just saved his life for some reason..." I think as I walk over to Kohaku and help him up, and we walk out of the room. We're almost to my room when I pull Kohaku into a tight hug as I feel tears start to form.

"Miss (Y/N)?" Kohaku finally questions causing me to clear my throat and pull away from him.

"Call me just (Y/N) from now on... Anyways let's get to sparring!" I chirp as I turn away from him and begin tying up my Kimono. "I don't know why but I want to protect this boy, no matter what..." I think as I then start walking towards the Courtyard.

(Time Skip)

"I was right you are really good, Kohaku." I compliment, while being a little out of breath and he nods as well.

"Thank you, (Y/N)." Kohaku thanks, but then I hear one of the castle doors slide open.

"(Y/N)." Naraku calls out causing me to look over at him as I wipe the sweat from my brow.

"Yes?" I ask causing him to slightly narrow his eyes at me.

"I need to discuss something with you. So would you join me for dinner?" Naraku questions causing me to stare at him for a moment.

"Um, sure." I respond as I begin walking over to him and he turns, but I see a slight smirk appear on his lips.

"Follow me." Naraku insists and I nod causing him to begin walking and I follow after him as I was told. We come to a room with a table with food on it as I feel my stomach begin to rumble. "I didn't get to eat today, so my stomach's growling really loudly. God I hope he can't hear it!" I think as my face begins to heat up from embarrassment, while we sit down at the table.

"You may eat first before we begin our conversation." Naraku informs causing me to nod and begin to stuff my face, but then I look out of the corner of my eye to see Naraku hasn't touch anything on the table, but was staring at me.

"Are you not going to eat?" I question as I straighten up causing Naraku to chuckle.

"Oh, no. Demon's such as myself don't need to really eat." Naraku responds and I look at him with a confused expression.

"Well at least eat one thing, it's kind of embarrassing to be the only one eating." I state causing Naraku to narrow his eyes down at the food, but then begins to eat as well "Demon or not it's still good to eat." I think with a smile.

(Naraku's POV)

"What kind of power does this girl possess to get I, Naraku to do something so useless." I wonder as I placed down the bowl I was eating out of down on the table and then get up from the table and walk over to the closet that was in the room. Grabbing the box out of it, I shut it back and walk back over to the table, while narrowing my eyes at the curious (Y/N)'s clothing that looked worn out and has holes.

( (Y/N)'s POV)

"What is that box?" I ask as I stopped eating and stared up at him with a curious expression causing Naraku to places it in front of me.

"Open it." Naraku instructs causing me to do so to see 2 kimono's with beautiful patterns.

"Are these-"

"There for you, you're current one isn't faring well especially during your sparring." Naraku informs, while interrupting me, which makes my eyes widen, but after taking out the two Kimono's there was one more thing in the box.

"A sword?" I question as I grabbed it out from the box, while looking up at Naraku.

"You're knife is handy, but this should be more useful to master." Naraku responds and I nod.

"I will do my best!" I declare with a confident expression.
