An alarm rings *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*
A kid named Nazan wakes up to the blaring sound of his alarm. Groaning, he glanced at the clock.
5:30 AM.
"I hate waking up early in the morning"
Nazan says while groaning
He slammed it off with a groggy hand. His eyes were barely open.
Dragging himself out of bed, he stumbled into the bathroom and let cold water shock him awake. The shower was quick just enough to shake off the sleep.
"Nazan! Hurry up or you'll miss the first bell!" his mom shouted from the kitchen.
"I'm coming!" he yelled back, slipping into a white uniform and black pants
His hair still dripping, he grabbed the sandwich she'd left on the table. It was warm egg and ham, his favorite.
He took one bite, then another, then shoved the rest into his mouth as he put on his backpack and slips on his shoes.
"Summer is over" his mom said with a soft smile. "Don't mess up alright?"
Nazan nods, mouth full, then dashes out the door.
At the school gate, Nazan stood chewing the last bite of his sandwich. The building looked like a normal school… until he saw the students.
One floated several feet in the air. Another had smoke coming from his hands. A third flexed his arms and cracked the pavement beneath his feet.
This place was nothing like his old school.
Still, he pushed forward.
While Nazan is walking towards his classroom he hears other classroom introducing themselves.
Students stood one by one, casually announcing things like,
"I can grow my head,"
"I talk to metal,"
"I can talk to myself!"
"Ah crap, Introductions have already started I'm late!"
Nazan whispers to himself.
Nazan sees and enters his classroom.
The teachers sees him and says
"Right on time mister introduce yourself!
"Oh come on"
Nazan thoughts
"I'm Nazan," he said, voice low. "Just transferred here. Uh… I have this shadow pet thing. It's alive, I think. But I can't control it yet."
A few students laughed. Some stared. One kid in the back raised an eyebrow.
Nazan finds a seat and sits right next to kid named Rod.
Then others introduced themselves in front of the classroom.
"My name's Rod. My powers are super strength. And yeah I can lift cars."
Before Rod can sit down, a kid is already in the front.
"Hi guys my name Paulo. My powers are super speed. And fun fact I'm fastest in the class no doubt."
Then came four more in a row.
Axl leaned against the doorway. "I copy powers. It's temporary, but annoying enough. Don't get too close if you don't want a mirror match."
Justine bounced in place, then stretched his arm across the hall like rubber. "Elastic everything. Makes me great at everything."
Frenzen goes in the front of the classroom, quietly sketching a bird in a board and suddenly the bird came to life flying around the classroom. "If I draw it, it becomes real."
The students gets amazed.
Pilsen stood by the wall. "My powers is bone manipulation, I can do anything like Weapon, shield and whatever I need."
Nazan took it all in, overwhelmed.
"Am I even gonna fit in here?" he thought.
The bell rang. Students poured into the hall, chatting loudly. But Nazan lingered behind, eyes on his shadow stretched long across the floor.
Two boys approached.
"Hey!"
Nazan turned. It was Rod and Paulo.
"What's up man! I heard about the shadow pet in you" Rod said. "Is it strong?"
"I don't know, probably is" Nazan replied.
"You should summon it after we go out of the school," Paulo added. "We wanna see what it can do."
"Sure," Nazan said with a shrug. "Just don't cause trouble."
"Deal man" Rod and Paulo says
The three of them walked out of the school building and headed toward a massive open field behind the campus. It was peaceful. The grass swayed gently in the breeze, and only the distant sounds of birds filled the air.
Nazan stepped into the center of the field. Rod and Paulo stood nearby, watching with curious eyes.
"Are you sure it's safe?" Rod asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I've only done it once," Nazan replied. "And even then… I couldn't control it."
He took a deep breath and raised his hand, like he was calling something.
"Come on!! Come out!!"
Nothing happened.
Paulo blinked. "Come out man"
"Maybe it's scared" Rod joked.
"Let's just try it another time," Paulo said with a yawn.
Nazan gritted his teeth. "Come out. Now."
Still nothing.
He dropped to his knees in frustration. "Tch… I knew it."
"That's okay Nazan we will go now."
They were about to turn and leave when the wind suddenly died.
A heavy pressure dropped into the field like a hammer.
The ground behind them cracked open, and from a swirling black mist it appeared.
A monstrous creature emerged, almost insectoid in form, with glowing eyes and twisted claws. Its armor-like skin shimmered like the night, and its jagged silhouette towered above them. It looked like a darker, more evolved version of the shadow creature Nazan once saw.
Rod and Paulo stumbled back in shock.
"WHAT THE?!" Rod shouted. "That's so cool!"
"NOPE! I'M OUT!" Paulo yelled, turning to run.
But it was too late.
The creature lunged forward with terrifying speed, knocking them aside like dolls. Rod and Paulo were sent flying into the grass, groaning before falling unconscious.
Nazan froze.
The beast turned its glowing eyes on him and charged.
With a heavy slam, Nazan was thrown across the field, his body crashing into the ground. Cuts opened on his arms and legs, and bruises already began to form.
The creature towered over him now, its breath cold and thick like smoke.
Then, it spoke.
Its voice was deep, smooth, and venomous. "So… you finally summoned me. Took you long enough, little worm."
"My name is Dark Shadow."
Nazan clenched his fists, blood dripping down his arm as he stood back up.
"You're supposed to obey me."
Dark Shadow let out a low, dark chuckle. "Obey? I've been watching. You're weak. Powerless. You can't even control your own shadow."
"Shut up and serve me," Nazan growled.
Dark Shadow stepped forward, eyes narrowing. "Serve you? Why would I follow someone who doesn't even know who he is?"
"You talk too much."
"I'm the only one talking sense."
Nazan's body shook not with fear, but with rage. "I'll make you obey."
Dark Shadow leaned in close, his voice now a sinister whisper.
"Do you want to become a god… or stay a broken boy pretending to be strong?"
Without warning, he grabbed Nazan by the throat and hurled him across the field.
Silence fell.
Then the creature slowly faded into black mist, vanishing without a trace.
The pressure in the air lifted.
Nazan lay on the ground, panting, sweat and blood mixing on his skin.
Time passed.
Rod and Paulo were still unconscious in the grass.
Nazan dragged himself toward them, every movement aching. He knelt beside Rod and gently shook him.
"Hey… wake up."
Rod groaned. "That… was insane."
Paulo blinked slowly, then sat up. "Was that… your pet?"
"Yeah," Nazan muttered. "That was it."
Both of them winced as they sat up, still sore from the impact, but they laughed anyway.
"That was actually kinda cool," Paulo said.
Rod smirked. "Scary as hell… but cool."
They sat in silence for a while, watching the sky fade into soft orange.
Eventually, the three of them stood and limped out of the field. Bruised. Shaken. But alive.
Rod and Paulo waved goodbye as they headed off.
Nazan walked alone, picking up his bag from under a bench and slinging it over his shoulder.
His footsteps echoed softly as he made his way down the street.
Behind him, a faint black aura shimmered in the fading light. Two glowing eyes and a jagged silhouette flickered in the shadows.
Watching.
Waiting.
