Elara's POV
"You have their pictures…" I say, trying to squint my eyebrows, but instead, a bright smile is taking over my face.
"Yes, I have them." She assures me.
"You mean my parents' pictures?"
"And I'm saying a loud yes." She comes closer to my ears. "Yes, I have them!"
I'm suppressing the smile that is on my face. It doesn't feel real. I shouldn't be laughing and smiling for nothing. It's an effort she's making so I feel better.
Well, I appreciate that, but she shouldn't take this too far. I hate having disappointments.
But somehow, I also want it to be true. Just somehow, and nothing more.
Her eyes are scrutinizing me, taking a view of me. She wouldn't stop doing this. It feels creepy, especially at this moment when I knew she's pulling a prank on me.
"You don't believe me?"
"I… it's not really like that though."
But you will see." She winks. "And you will believe soon after."
"So… where are they?"
