The two girls slowly walked and passed many sellers but didn't stop once, asking the few boys stunned.
When they followed MeiMei she would stop at many sellers that sold trinkets and such, but these two had clear goal.
Food.
But all the food in front was sweets, cakes, buns and such things.
Su Fei had good eyes and saw many of those foods on top being stale and ready only to get resold so they wouldn't throw them away.
Many will buy and not think much of it, but she had no plan to spoil her own guts.
Finally after walking for a while she smelled nice scent and saw a young girl opening steaming basket and went straight at her.
"How much for the wild vegetables buns?"
The girl was stunned. "How do you know?"
"I have Jose of a dog. I can smell herbs you used. So, how much for them?"
These are white wheat buns. She definitely didn't skimp on material.
"Five coins for two." The girl spoke loudly and made few people next to her to gasp.
"Ate you crazy. Qinqin, buns are one coin a piece." One older woman warned her.
"So your name is Qinqin. Listen, I can smell pure flour, you probably added eggs or even meat into the vegetables." Su Fei spoke loudly and winked at her.
"My father hunted a small boar. I placed best meat into buns. Five coins for two us still cheap." Qinqin was not dumb.
"Good! I'll buy twenty." Su Fei wanted others to buy this girls food so she would have some means of survival in future.
The buns were huge.
So she gave each boy two and they indeed were amazed by the smell and the taste.
Many were watching them eating so deliciously and rushed to buy even if price was ridiculous.
But after tasting these buns they rushed to buy more, not expecting that all of them were sold in less then few minutes.
Qinqin stood there in daze with bag full of coins and rushed to her father's stand. "Father, did you sell all the meat?"
"Not yet. Why?" He was stunned as she grabbed large piece of meat and rushed to her stand to make dumplings this time as she had no time to wait for buns to rise.
This is time when you have to rush.
Luckily it was still early morning and as soon she was done making, already long line of people were waiting to buy.
Her father gave up selling meat and came to help her after seeing the crowd.
That day he realized how fast he can earn money by selling meat in small portions and left some for own use as they earned more than ten time do what they invested.
Qinqin didn't forget the girl that made her first sale and saw her later with her family on carraige filled with bags and baskets.
Dozens of carriages went back to Peach village but whole others bought only what they needed this family and nothing so no own thought much about why they had on their own two carriages of stuff.
Su Quan was amazed.
He gave her twenty teales that were huge amount of money but she gave him back eighteen and bought enough food for the thre of them to eat for years.
Of course half of the things were actually form her space but she won't tell him that. Or her sister.
She just acted like she got a good deal and made boys run around to find carraige and while they transported she just added more things on pile she bought while buying ven more so no one knew what she did.
She knew this was her only chance to buy this much as she got suddenly after that night in praying hall something special.
A prediction ability.
And it looked dark.
Literally dark.
The sun will have long night that will last one year. The heck?
The other five stories just spokee about the various disasters but never spoke of eternal night...
Her heart shook as she realized that the five stories might not be from the same world.
The more she thought the more her mind became dizzy. This is bad.
What's next?
Zombies?
She tuned towards the praying hall and looked at the small Buddha statue. Suddenly a ray of light hit her, invisible to normal human eyes but visible to the old monk that was about to close gates.
Su Fei almost fainted.
Not zombies.
Worse.
Humans that eat humans from hunger.
Actually, there won't be any floods or such here, but one year of darkness will kil milions.
No food can grow, animals will die in masses and humans as well as they have no way to survive without food and most importantly, air will get thinner.
But once that year passes, the humans will change greatly. Some will have certain powers...
Her lips twitched. In what kind of book did she slip now? This is not what books she read were talking about.
A world of people with powers?
Suddenly she saw the book in her space but it was a bit strange. Unfortunately, she was walking back home and now she couldn't touch it to see what's inside.
It would make everyone go crazy if they knew who she really was. And imposter in this frail body.
She almost stated laughing. The point was can she even survive next year without dying and not even talking any future catastrophes?
Back at her house, now filled with various bags, pots and baskets she carefully added more rice before her father could count and smiled happily when he saw the storage full of food.
She even bought finished pots with pickles from an older woman, from a young family she bought whole baskets with fresh and dried mushrooms, another family and dried vegetables she actually liked and she still bought whole lot of fresh vegetables as they had no time to plant.
Soon winter will come so she bought cabbages, pumpkins and various beans for long term use.
She planned to pickle half of the cabbages as well and bought two huge pots and few bags of slat but as salt was precious in this world she didn't tell him about it.
Actually, she could get salt from her space, but literally found a trader that had only few bags left and was hurrying on next boat to go back home as he feared storms.
Then she remembered that she needs firewood and looked at her father. "Father, go to elders and buy lots of firewood. Filling our wood shed with firewood or even coal is never wrong. Please father. We are not used to North and we need warm rooms."
He as well waw not used to northern coldness and had to agree that her precaution is not wrong.
So he took all the money it was left in the bag and went directly to village head house.
Everything was ready except firewood...
