Chapter 13 - Detained

The room went silent, every breath, every creak of the floorboards seemed to loud as I stared at the clasp on the floor as if it might vanish if I blinked.

"T-that's not - "

"Warriors," Elder Harwin's voice was like a blade. "Seize her". Two wolves moved instantly, Xavier stepped into their path. "No one touches her"

"Alpha...." Seraphine purred with fake innocence and concern. "If she's innocent, then she has nothing to fear from a proper search".

My heart hammered, pounding loudly in my chest as I stepped closer to Xavier. "I didn't take it, you know I wouldn't - "

He looked at me, doubt written on his face, "Where were you tonight". He asked sternly.

My heart pounded loudly. "With you, you know that". Elder Harwin snorted, "Plenty of time for her to sneak away while you slept"

Heat rose in Xavier's face, part rage - part confusion, torn between defending me and protecting his pack.

The elders were already murmuring for me to be detained, Xavier's jaw clenched, as his muscles was tense as he stared at me, me, the woman he loved, fought for, bled for, stole one precious item in his pack, the truth could not be denied.

Finally, his voice cut through the room, final.

"Take her to the holding cells, and make sure she doesn't escape".

My breath caught in my throat, painful than any wound I'd ever had, as tears welled up.

"Xavier! No, no! Please don't, you have to believe me. Someone here us framing me! Please!" The warriors closed in on me. And Seraphine stepped back into the shadows.... smiling and I knew....

As they dragged me out of the room, whispers following as I screamed for Xavier, I saw Maya and Jayden at the end of the hallway, pity in their eyes.

"No! You have to believe me, all of you. Please, I'm innocent. Xavier!?" They dragged me down towards the cells and darkness eveloped....
