Chapter 37 - The Convergence of Multiple Universes

The flashbang detonated instantly. The deafening sound and blinding white light robbed Natasha of her sight and hearing. She was, after all, the closest to the explosion.

A few seconds after the flashbang, the door of the shop was kicked open. Several figures rushed in systematically, only to be taken aback by the scene before them.

The only person injured by the flashbang was Natasha. After the figures rushed in, they saw Han Yu, Quicksilver, and Ultron staring directly at them. The atmosphere became awkward.

There were three people who rushed in, and they all shared a common feature: they wore hoods and carried a longsword of the same style on their backs, like ninjas.

This characteristic made Han Yu think of an organization: the League of Assassins!

Could people and things from other universes also merge into this one?

Han Yu murmured inwardly. The League of Assassins wasn't a product of the Marvel Universe; it existed in the DC Universe, the one with Batman and Superman.

It was a killer organization no less powerful than Marvel's Hydra, with its influence spanning the globe. Its members were characterized by hooded masks and the use of bows or longswords. Their appearance now was very similar to what Han Yu remembered.

Han Yu was sizing them up, and they were sizing up Han Yu.

The three assassins exchanged glances. One of them said, "It's this guy. Kill him and find the Mind Gem!"

Several assassins drew their swords simultaneously and charged straight at Han Yu. In the confined space, the three moved in perfect coordination, not seeming crowded at all, their teamwork impeccable.

Han Yu stepped forward, moved next to Natasha, and pulled her back, throwing her onto the sofa. At the same time, he raised his right arm to block, and three cold blades slashed against his arm.

"Hmph, daring to attack directly? Seeking death!"

Han Yu hadn't wanted to strike at mortals casually. Strictly speaking, Han Yu was no longer human. If he were to be arrogant, he could even claim to be a god. His physical abilities far exceeded ordinary humans, and his strength was beyond what they could withstand.

Without any fancy moves, he slapped the assassin on the far left in the chest. The latter immediately groaned, and although he wore a black mask, a bit of red liquid seeped out.

This single slap killed the assassin instantly.

The remaining two assassins, seeing their companion killed, had a flicker of surprise in their eyes. They quickly retreated a short distance, warily watching Han Yu.

"Hey, your boss is being attacked, and you two aren't even nervous?"

Natasha hid behind a sofa, using it as cover. Watching the tense atmosphere in front of her, she turned to look at her side. Ultron and Quicksilver were also hiding there, and they were still playing games, as if the attack had nothing to do with them.

"Nah, what's the big deal? Our boss is so strong, it'll be a piece of cake for him to handle them. Everything can wait, but playing games can't. I'm about to win!"

Quicksilver's fingers flew across the phone screen, unleashing a flurry of skills in the game. Looking at his record, well, he talked a big game, but his record was 0/5.

"Are these really his employees? They don't seem to care about their boss's life at all."

Natasha was a bit speechless. This was the first time she had seen such employees. She ignored them and looked up.

The two assassins, seeing that their companion had been killed with a single slap, exchanged glances. The one on the right's eyes flashed with a fierce look. He raised his hand, and light purple energy surged from his arm, solidifying into a purple longsword.

Natasha and Han Yu were both somewhat stunned. Super-powered individuals weren't common in this world, and the fact that this assassin could materialize energy into a sword greatly surprised Natasha.

Han Yu's surprise stemmed from a different possibility: this wasn't likely a superpower, but a mutant gene!

Mutants? Wait, mutants haven't appeared in the main Marvel universe yet. Could this be due to a shift in the timeline?

A cold glint flashed in Han Yu's eyes. He needed to resolve this quickly to determine whether the opponent was using high-tech gadgets or their own abilities.

Without a word, the two assassins charged towards Han Yu after the one suspected of being a mutant materialized a purple energy blade.

The ordinary assassin in front flicked his wrists, and two small black spheres appeared between his fingers, striking Han Yu and erupting in a thick cloud of smoke.

The assassin's vision didn't seem to be affected by the smoke. The instant the fog arose, the purple blade slashed towards Han Yu's head.

Before the blade could connect, two fingers encased in Green Lantern energy intercepted the purple blade.

Han Yu's body was tough, but he couldn't grasp energy-based weapons with his bare hands. Only methods involving energy shielding could do that.

"Not bad speed. If you were facing a regular person, you might have actually killed them. Too bad you picked the wrong opponent."

Han Yu smiled slightly, twirling his fingers. He snapped the assassin's sword, then kicked him in the abdomen. The immense force sent him crashing into the door, knocking him unconscious.

Although he was a Mutant, his physical condition was only that of a "regular person who's been training for a long time." His ability to withstand blows wasn't that great.

Seeing his teammate defeated so easily, the other assassin knew he didn't stand a chance and immediately turned to run.

"I'll have someone chase him!"

This was a chance to show off. Natasha immediately used her earpiece to order the S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers outside to arrest the assassin, while she turned her attention to the one still inside.

Han Yu walked over to the assassin in a few steps, knelt down, and searched him, but didn't find any high-tech devices capable of concentrating and releasing energy. There was only one possibility: he really was a Mutant!

"This is getting interesting," Han Yu murmured to himself. Now that the League of Assassins had appeared, along with the first Mutant he'd seen, his deductions were proving correct.

This world was subtly merging with others. It wouldn't necessarily be a complete fusion, but some forces from other universes would inevitably manifest here.

Forces like the League of Assassins were manageable. However, if something stronger, like Krypton, were to appear in this universe, Superman would likely follow!

Han Yu wasn't particularly interested in Superman. After all, they were both guys, and that would be a bit weird. But Superman's cousin... that was a different story.

He was referring to Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl!
