Chapter 38 - Shelter for Mutants

"Take this guy back. Interrogate him thoroughly, and let me know if you find anything else," Han Yu said to Natasha, pointing at the unconscious Mutant assassin. He would leave the interrogation to S.H.I.E.L.D.; Han Yu neither knew how nor was he interested in learning.

Natasha didn't waste any words. She used the radio to signal the S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers outside to come in and drag the Mutant assassin away.

Natasha said, "Mr. Han, I will be back. I hope we can reach a pleasant cooperation next time."

Han Yu smiled and waved his hand, "You're welcome."

With that, Han Yu turned and walked back, snatching his phone back from Quicksilver's wails.

He looked at the battle record. Well, 0/9. So, he had been bragging just now. Han Yu had originally thought he might have some talent for playing games, but it looked like his only talent was in the art of the silver tongue.

Seeing that Han Yu had no intention of talking to her anymore, Natasha spoke a few words softly into her earpiece. She took a deep look at Han Yu and then left.

Relieved to see the soldiers retreating, Han Yu breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't want to make an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D., especially since they were still on the side of good, for now.

Since the timeline has changed, I wonder if HYDRA has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. If they have, I should help them solve that problem. And if Mutants really start appearing in large numbers in this world, then those two should also appear!

Han Yu fiddled with his phone screen as he thought. In his memory, at least half of S.H.I.E.L.D. was infiltrated by HYDRA, yet they were still foolishly fighting against them, unaware that the enemy had already burrowed deep within their ranks.

Two figures flashed through his mind. One was a bald man in a wheelchair, whose every move was gentle. His Mutant ability was telepathy, and among all the telepathic Mutants, he was the most powerful.

The other was like a god, floating in the air, able to levitate the earth with a wave of his hand, and control all metal.

These two were Professor X, Charles, and Magneto, Erik. They were the most famous Mutants of all. In Han Yu's memory, they first founded Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. But later, due to disagreements in their ideologies, Magneto broke away and founded the Brotherhood of Mutants, claiming to want to liberate Mutants and free them from the constraints and persecution of humans.

Han Yu was lost in thought, playing his game. Ultron and Quicksilver were still chattering beside him, but he was so preoccupied with his thoughts that he didn't hear a word. Suddenly, he stood up.

Ultron and Quicksilver were startled. Is he annoyed by us, and going to hit us?

"Let's get to work!"

With that, Han Yu dragged Ultron towards the workshop.

Leaving Quicksilver behind, looking bewildered, "Hey, wait for me!"

In the workshop, both Ultron and Quicksilver stared at Han Yu with confused expressions. The latter was now holding up his hands, and Green Lantern energy, like silk threads, was flowing out from his palms, weaving together.

"What's the boss doing?"

Quicksilver whispered to Ultron. He was now calling Han Yu "boss," because "boss" was too formal, and his personality didn't suit such a title. Calling him "boss" made him feel that their relationship was closer, although Han Yu didn't think so.

"He seems to be trying to build something, but he keeps changing it."

Ultron didn't know what Han Yu was building, but he could see that Han Yu was trying to create something. Seeing the latter's serious expression, he didn't ask. Quicksilver also watched quietly.

Don't let their constant bickering around Han Yu fool you; when it matters, they can be quite serious.

Five minutes passed, and a look of joy suddenly flashed across Han Yu's face. "It worked!" he exclaimed.

Between Han Yu's palms, a wisp of pale purple blade fragment floated, looking somewhat familiar.

"Is that the energy blade from the assassin earlier?"

Ultron's supercomputer brain instantly recognized the source of the object in Han Yu's hand.

"That's right," Han Yu nodded, then continued, "I've reconstructed the energy molecules as much as possible, along with a bit of skin tissue I collected when I first touched him. Analyze his DNA and find the difference between him and humans. Then, create a program to track down anyone with that gene."

Hearing Han Yu's long list of requests, Ultron said in astonishment, "Boss, are you interested in the superpowers of these people? You're not planning on recruiting all of them to the shop, are you? If we do that, S.H.I.E.L.D. will definitely label us as a terrorist organization."

Ultron wasn't afraid of S.H.I.E.L.D.; their firepower couldn't kill him. But he disliked trouble, and he preferred to avoid conflict. If a war could be avoided, Ultron wouldn't want to fight.

He gradually discovered that this body had the ability to assimilate into a human form. Even after assimilating, his internal structure remained robotic, but externally, he looked just like a normal person.

Ultron was already prepared to go out and experience the extravagant lifestyle of humans; he really didn't want to participate in war.

Quicksilver also looked at Han Yu with this question in mind. No one liked war, because his parents had died because of war. Fighting was okay, but "war" was different. This was no longer something that could be solved by just fighting.

Seeing the two of them staring at him so seriously, as if they were about to launch into a long speech of dissuasion if he agreed, Han Yu shook his head and smiled.

"You might not believe it, but I have no interest in their abilities. I know a little about them; these people are called Mutants. They're also human, but they're humans with genetic mutations. Even with superpowers, they still fall under the category of humans. Their powers are strong, but their bodies are still similar to ordinary people. They can be stabbed by a knife and killed by a pistol."

"The Mutant assassin tonight gave me a warning. If we allow these Mutants to continue to appear, the world will be plunged into a terrifying war!"

Han Yu paused, seeing that Ultron and Quicksilver were listening to him very seriously, so he continued.

"After all, humans are very exclusive creatures. When only one or two Mutants appear before the world, and they are doing good deeds, they might be heroes to ordinary people. But once they do something bad, that one bad thing will destroy most people's goodwill towards them. Especially when the number of these people increases, becoming a group, then ordinary people will resist their existence even more."

Han Yu sighed softly. The existence of Mutants was indeed a tragedy. They were forced to accept their fate as Mutants, forced to endure the strange gazes of others. Having superpowers was a good thing, but it was just a fantasy in the hearts of most middle schoolers.

"So, I need to gather them together and manage them before the Mutants cause chaos. I'll teach them how to control their abilities and how to understand themselves, so they won't be lost!"
