After following the caretaker into another room, which was secretly protected with a formation, Ray met a person—or more like a soul—inside. He was completely shocked because the soul in front of him was Daymond.
Daymond sighed and said, "Little Ray, welcome. I know what you want to ask and talk about. So sit down and hear what I have to say."
Ray was stunned to see Daymond, and without hearing another word, he turned around, intending to run away. But the caretaker caught him and said, "Just hear him out. You'll discover some huge, shocking news."
Ray sighed, realizing he couldn't escape this, so he sat down on a chair that was already there. In front of him was a chessboard placed on a table. Seeing this, he was shocked. Noticing his reaction, the soul of Daymond sat on the opposite side.
Ray asked, "Are you reincarnated too?"
Daymond shook his head and replied, "I am not. But the one who currently possesses my body is. Now that I've made it easier for you to understand, I'll tell you what's really going on."
Daymond began telling his story—when and how his body got possessed, and by whom.
It all started when he first married his wife, Elizabeth Montclair. He was happily married to her and later began marrying a few other wives. But he had no idea that he was being poisoned by someone close to him. The poison was colorless and undetectable.
He hadn't been poisoned in just one day—if that were the case, he would have noticed. It took the person over 20 years to poison him without detection. It might've taken even longer, but the plan had to be initiated early. Why? Because it wasn't just Daymond who was being poisoned—other leaders from barons to dukes were also targeted.
And why was the plan accelerated, you ask? Because one of the leaders discovered early on that he was being poisoned. And which leader was that? It was Ray's father, Robert, who managed to find out about his poisoning. How he got rid of the poison is something only Robert knows.
Back to Daymond—how is his soul here, and who is controlling his body?
Daymond had been poisoned for 20 years by someone living closely with him. It was none other than Elizabeth Montclair. Since Robert had discovered the truth earlier than expected, the Montclair family's vice leader secretly attacked Daymond, attempting to take over his body using a soul technique. Elizabeth assisted by accelerating the poisoning process, while the vice leader handled the possession of Daymond's body.
But they miscalculated one thing: After the first 10 years of poisoning, the library caretaker had noticed Daymond's condition. Though it was too late to completely cure him, the caretaker was able to stop the poison from spreading further and extracted a part of Daymond's soul into this secret room.
A few days later, Daymond finally identified who had been poisoning him. From that moment, he began deliberately avoiding Elizabeth—because the poison had been administered through intimacy with her. So when Elizabeth and the vice leader attempted their ambush, they found themselves in a fierce fight. Although Daymond eventually lost and the vice leader succeeded in taking over his body, Daymond's soul continued to fight back from within.
So, who exactly is the vice leader of the Montclair family?
It is none other than a reincarnated person from Earth named Jack.
Daymond discovered this through direct conversation with Jack. They've shared the same body for five years, and during this time, Jack has shared many things with Daymond.
Jack told Daymond that he wants to change this world—by bringing Earth's inventions here. That's why he wants all the inventors' creations to be his. He even introduced the 'trademark' and 'copyright' systems into this world.
Jack has already taken control of a few new inventors by manipulating or coercing them. But that wasn't enough—he wanted the true inventors of this world to help him build technologies like electricity and the internet, using wires and more. For that, he targeted the Inventors Guild. Eventually, he even set his sights on Ray's mother, Diana.
However, since Daymond's body is not originally Jack's, Jack couldn't fully control it. He's been adapting to it over the past five years, but Daymond's soul continues to resist him.
….
So, five years ago, when Robert learned the poison originated from the Montclair family, he began clashing with them alone. He had no idea how widespread the issue was—until he later discovered that most of the Duke clans and lower-ranked nobles were also affected.
Fortunately, Robert used his special skill to cure all his men. All barons to earls under his command have been freed from the poison.
Meanwhile, Jack—now in control of Daymond's body—began forcing the other three Duke factions into submission by making them sign contracts under threat. If they refused, they would be killed, and their families wiped out. With no other choice, they signed.
….
Until now, thanks to Robert and the inventors, the situation has remained in stalemate. But now, Jack is calling Robert to the palace, planning to eliminate him and gain control over Ray, who has already invented a communication device and helped develop the hot air balloon.
Jack is 100% convinced that Ray is also an Earth reincarnate—and he wants Ray under his control. To do that, he must first eliminate Robert, Ray's strongest supporter.
Finally, Daymond's soul looked at Ray and said, "You need to go with your mother and Alicia right now and help me take back my body. I'll fight Jack's soul from within. This will be a dangerous battle—but let's do it. Robert has already come to the palace to meet Jack."
Ray asked, "How do you know?"
Daymond replied, "I can see what Jack sees, hear what he hears, and sense what he does. My soul is still inside that body. So go—now!"
Hearing this, Ray lost all interest in studying languages and researching relics in the library. He immediately dashed off to find his mother and needed to inform her of the situation.
