Chapter 36 - Goodbye, Miss Rose

After a long drive, we finally arrive in an old town. I lean toward the window, confusion tightening in my chest. An old town? Why has he brought me here? The car slows and stops in front of a weathered café. My brows furrow. Why here?

I glance at Daniel. "Why are we here?"

"This is the perfect place for a first date," he replies smoothly.

I stare at him.

He smiles faintly. "Kidding. Let's go inside."

I step out of the car, the winter air brushing against my skin, and follow Daniel into the café. The place is old but cozy, filled with the sweet smell of baked cookies and freshly brewed coffee. A woman, elegant even in her age, is behind the counter preparing drinks. My gaze lingers on her face. There's something about her… something familiar.

Daniel and I take a seat at a small wooden table. A young boy approaches to take our order. Daniel orders for both of us, his tone casual, while my eyes wander restlessly around the café. The boy soon sets down our coffee.
