Perhaps because the fog had only just begun to spread, most of the interdimensional creatures were still in a wait-and-see state. They only encountered three waves of monsters on the journey from Madam Marjorie's home to the Supermarket.
Besides the first wave of Dog-like Monsters, the other two waves were Parasitic Spiders!
The group returned to the Supermarket without any major issues. What surprised Li Qingyuan was that the two children hadn't started crying and making a fuss.
Although it seemed these monsters weren't judging the location of their prey by sound, if the two children kept crying, it would always increase their exposure.
"Look! Look! I told you, you people are just trying to deceive me!"
As Li Qingyuan escorted Madam Marjorie and the two children back to the Supermarket, he heard an angry voice yelling.
He saw the black lawyer, Norton, pointing at their group and shouting at a white man holding a child.
The man holding the child should be the protagonist, David Remmington, and the boy in his arms was his son, Billy Remmington.
David Remmington was somewhat of a celebrity in Valia Town because he was a painter. Not the kind of painter who was so poor he couldn't feed himself, but a well-known artist whose paintings easily sold for five figures.
A guy like that was definitely a prominent figure in a town with a total population of less than ten thousand. He lived in a villa in the most scenic part of the town. As for the black lawyer, Norton, he was his neighbor.
After Li Qingyuan and Madam Marjorie left, David discovered that the generator in the Supermarket's storage room seemed to be broken. Then, he heard a giant creature squeezing the roller shutter door at the back of the Supermarket.
However, the Supermarket repairman who arrived didn't listen to his advice and instead directly opened the door to repair the generator.
Well, as it turned out, the moment the door opened, several giant tentacles reached out from the crack below and dragged out an unlucky electrician.
David and the others immediately told everyone who was still in the Supermarket about what happened, but the group led by the black lawyer, Norton, simply refused to believe them.
Even though the storage room was covered in bloodstains, Norton insisted that it was a hoax created with the blood of cattle and sheep. After all, as a lawyer, he had seen too many of these tricks!
Besides, deep down, Norton firmly believed that this incident was just a rare weather phenomenon. He could accept the idea that the smoke was toxic, but monsters in the smoke?
That was simply insulting his law doctorate!
How could there be monsters in the world? Did they think he was an idiot?
So even though David's account was vivid, Norton still refused to believe him.
Moreover, Norton had only bought his vacation villa last year and didn't know anyone in the town. And when he first moved in, he'd had some minor conflicts with David's family over customs and habits.
Thus, in Norton's mind, the reason David was trying to put on a show was to scare him, a social elite from New York, and thus satisfy his own despicable, dark psychological needs.
But no matter how much Norton felt his guess was correct, he was still constantly perplexed when faced with a group of witnesses.
David had a grudge against him, so it would be fine if he was trying to trick him, but what about the others?
They wouldn't risk offending a top lawyer to put on an act, would they?
That thought, like a curse, swirled in his mind. Just as Norton was stuck in a dilemma, Li Qingyuan returned with Madam Marjorie and her two children.
Norton immediately regained the upper hand, and even those who had believed David began to doubt.
Monsters in the fog? Impossible!
Didn't Madam Marjorie return with her two children unharmed?
"Norton, really, I'm not lying to you. I have no reason to make such a joke at a time like this!" David, the male lead, continued his attempts to persuade, but unfortunately, he didn't seem to have the Talk no Jutsu talent of a shonen protagonist, and the black lawyer completely ignored him.
"Then I'd like to ask you, have you two seen a monster?" Norton directly turned his attention to Li Qingyuan, who had just entered.
In Norton's view, the answer was obvious. If there were real monsters, how could they have returned safely with a family in tow?
"Wah wah!" The two children finally started crying after being questioned.
"You damn nigger, get away from my kids!" Madam Marjorie, who had just experienced a life-and-death crisis, didn't care about racial discrimination anymore and cursed at Norton.
Where were you pretending to be dead when I asked someone to help me get home? Now, we've barely survived and made it back to the Supermarket, and you dare to scare my children?
If she hadn't compared the situation and realized she probably couldn't beat this black guy in front of her, Madam Marjorie would definitely have let him experience what it meant to be a crazy cat!
"Madam, this is racial discrimination. I have every right to sue you," Norton's black face flushed slightly. He was, after all, a famous lawyer, and who would dare to call him that on a normal day?
"Go to hell with your lawsuit, you nigger, get away from me and my children, you Satan's lackey! Damn parasite, inferior person, your heart is as black as your face..." In normal times, Madam Marjorie might have been afraid of his so-called lawsuit. After all, normal people don't want to conflict with the court and lawyers.
But now?
There were monsters surrounding them outside. Who cared about a lawyer's letter?
"Send the lawyer's letter when it's actually in my hands!"
Norton, a lawyer, was usually quite eloquent. However, when faced with a woman unleashing 200% of her power, his professional skills were utterly useless.
After all, you couldn't expect a distinguished lawyer to start a shouting match, could you?
No one dared to swear so casually in court.
So, he could only retreat step by step, hiding behind the crowd.
The protagonist couldn't handle the difficult person for ages, but Madam Marjorie subdued him in moments with her scolding. Judging by his dejected appearance, he probably wouldn't have the energy or inclination to cause trouble anytime soon.
This era really favors those who control public opinion!
"Marjorie, calm down a little!" Seeing Madam Marjorie enter an invincible, berserk state, Principal Rippla, the most respected elderly woman in the Supermarket, had to step forward and say.
Principal Rippla was already in her seventies. She had spent her entire life teaching at the only elementary school in town, so everyone in the town under the age of forty had been her student.
Therefore, facing Principal Rippla, Madam Marjorie had to give her some respect, and she finally stopped her cursing after taking a breath.
"Marjorie, what exactly happened?" Seeing that she had finally calmed down, Principal Rippla asked gently.
