The US Military Base hidden in the valley was actually researching a Dimensional Wormhole, but explaining it would be much more complicated than explaining bio-weapons.
Besides, Li Qingyuan felt it was better to give these people a little hope. Things like dimensions, which sounded so sophisticated, shouldn't be explained to ordinary people!
To be honest, if he were strong enough right now, he could consider directly infiltrating the US Military Base in the valley and finding the instrument that could break space restrictions.
Even though he didn't know how to use it, he figured that with the methods of Marvel's group of mad scientists, they could definitely mess around and produce some pleasing results.
He didn't ask for much, just a Space Equipment for himself, right?
A Space Ring was, after all, a standard for protagonists in various transmigration stories; he should at least have one!
It seems I've digressed.
The people in the supermarket were already getting agitated, especially after the three unlucky base soldiers were pushed forward to be questioned, which further fueled everyone's anger.
Those three soldiers were actually just the gatekeepers of the US Military Base, and they knew nothing about what was being researched inside. However, because they were gatekeepers, they had at least overheard some casual chatter.
They had heard their friends on guard duty inside say that the base seemed to be researching some very terrifying things, but it was obvious that these soldiers couldn't distinguish between a Dimensional Wormhole and biochemical weapons. Since even this international police officer said so, it should be correct.
"Damn it, those damn politicians, wasting our taxpayers' money like this!" Attorney Norton, who had been berated by Mrs. Marjorie, quickly jumped out to show his presence, stating that he would definitely sue the federal government, accusing them of daring to research destructive weapons in a populated area.
Li Qingyuan shook his head helplessly as he watched a group of onlookers whose emotions had been stirred up by the black lawyer!
These guys really didn't know the meaning of the word "death."
Still hoping to sue? Did they think they would live long enough to go to court?
"Mr. Officer!" David Remonton, fittingly the movie's protagonist, brought his son and a few friends to Li Qingyuan's side while everyone else was focused on Norton and the three soldiers.
Looking at the people gathered around him, Li Qingyuan saw David Remonton and his son, Ms. Amanda, Ollie the supermarket manager, and Principal Rippla. There were also a few extras whose names he didn't bother to remember.
As for Mrs. Marjorie?
She was now Li Qingyuan's biggest fan, her gaze so fervent it was practically trying to swallow him whole.
And Mrs. Carmody, a target of a side quest, was, much like Attorney Norton, spreading her beliefs amongst the crowd, trying to gather followers.
He almost forgot to mention, Mrs. Carmody was actually slightly mentally unstable. She always carried a copy of the Old Testament, constantly believing that God would send disasters to punish the world, making her a textbook cultist.
Normally, people would avoid her, but this sudden crisis seemed to give her an advantage.
There was nothing to be done. During a crisis, you couldn't expect everyone to stay rational.
The last quest target, Sally the supermarket cashier, was currently standing next to the three soldiers, trying to calm the anger of the crowd.
She and one of the soldiers were childhood sweethearts, and they had feelings for each other. Knowing that the accident was caused by the US Military Base, those who felt hurt and deceived were now preparing to teach the three soldiers a lesson.
The entire supermarket was in chaos. Everyone seemed busy, but they probably didn't even know what they were doing.
"What's up?" Li Qingyuan asked, comfortably seated on the sofa, holding a bucket of popcorn and an ice-cold Coke.
That's the good thing about a large supermarket; you can find anything!
"Do you mean that this crisis was caused by the leakage of biological viruses from the military base?" David Remonton carefully phrased his question, asking the young, almost ridiculously young, Interpol agent in front of him.
"I don't know, but probably."
"Since you're here, does that mean the government and the United Nations will come to save us soon?" David immediately saw the key point and asked the question everyone wanted to know.
The supermarket was full of ordinary people. Only those three soldiers had received formal training, but they were currently being beaten up by a crowd of indignant onlookers, so they couldn't be relied upon.
Therefore, Li Qingyuan, who knew the inside story and looked agile, immediately became the most worthwhile person to follow in the supermarket.
Of course, if the government can resolve this chaos before nightfall, then everyone can naturally go home.
"That's right, the situation now is probably due to a problem with the experiments inside the base. Whether it's the US government or the United Nations, they will likely send corresponding forces to solve this quickly," Li Qingyuan nodded.
"Great!"
Everyone, including David, looked delighted. Even though the government had messed up and caused this accident, in the current situation, only the national machine could resolve this crisis.
"I estimate that around Ten Days should be enough." However, Li Qingyuan's next sentence instantly plunged the group back into despair.
"Ten Days?" David turned his stiff neck and asked him, unable to believe it.
"Yes, about Ten Days!"
"How is that possible? Ten Days? Those monsters are roaming outside; Ten Days is enough time for them to slaughter the entire Valia Town three times!" David Remonton roared, raising his voice.
Ten Days!
Even if it were a natural disaster, there would be heavy casualties after ten days, not to mention the unknown number and species of bio-monsters outside.
By the time the government troops arrive in ten days, will they even be there to rescue?
They probably won't even be able to collect the bodies!
"You think the government is your family's business? In such a big event, they definitely need to confirm everything first, then start reporting it step by step. The most important thing is to find someone qualified to take the blame. Only after all that is done will they consider sending troops to clear things up. Ten days is already fast!" Ignoring David's agitated gaze, Li Qingyuan took a sip of his ice-cold cola and spoke slowly.
"This is just a remote town anyway, and there aren't any important people here. Even if everyone in the town dies, it won't matter much to those politicians in the White House. Or rather, they'd be happy if everyone died. That way, they don't even need to think of a reason; they can just say there was an earthquake or an epidemic. How simple!"
