Maya and Xavier side by side licking their ice cream.
"nice weather right?" Xavier commented trying to ease the air around them, meanwhile Maya was busy thinking of what happened earlier, she really didn't like Xavier always showing up for her, she appreciates his friendship but it's like she can't handle it on her own.
" can I asked you a question" she said
"yes sure"
"it's kinda weird but where is Adrian's family, I mean I had hoped to see his parents" she asked just out of curiosity
"Well.. Um Adrian doesn't have much of a family, he lost his mum years ago, and his dad is like a tyrant, always about business no time for his son, he has a step sister tho but they haven't even met in like five years now and the rest of his distant relatives just don't associate with him" Xavier explained
"So he has no one?" she asked, her voice soft as she felt a foreign emotion
"Yh something like that, but anyways, he have me" he said smiling. "uh hey do you remember..." Xavier was busy talking while Maya was lost, her mind drifted back to when she had seen Adrian clutching hard on that photo at the all studio in their school, she thought of how dull his eyes always look, he was.... lonely, Maya felt a pang of pity, she knows how it feels to loose a parent, she had lost her dad in a car accident leaving her and her mum to struggle.
Maya realising she was actually showing sympathy towards Adrian, she mentally scolded herself 'get a grip of your self Maya, who cares about him, he should go to hell, he makes my life miserable so why should I care' she thought, forcing her attention back on the young man who was busy yapping non stop, she had no idea what he was saying.
".... and that is why I love coming here for ice cream" Xavier said with a smile as he kept on licking his ice cream, Maya could only sigh knowing fully well that she had just zoned out on him.
"I think I should head home, it's getting cold" she said
"um okay I'll drop you off" they both headed to where his car was packed.
The ride was silent with only music playing, Maya's thought was trained on Adrian she tried diverting her thoughts or even focus on Xavier but her thoughts keep circling back to him. Meanwhile Xavier just kept stealing glances at her, observing her beauty in secret, he wondered why out of all the pretty girls he had seen, only Maya intrigued him, from the very moment he saw her, he just wanted to be close to her, but he always denied his feelings for her, telling himself he just wanted to be friends, but at this moment looking at her, her face out the window lost in thought, he wanted to be mote than just friends but he also didn't want to scare her away so he is willing to wait.
Adrian just lays on his bed, Maya's image burned in his mind, how he pushed her, a tiny part of him regretted doing that, that part of him had wanted to hold her and apply that first aid treatment on her, but the coldest part of him still wanted to hold her. Adrian is so conflicted right now "you don't have the right to make me think like this Maya" he mutters underneath his breath, getting up he pulls his drawer open taking out a picture of his mum, he curls himself up in the ground, wishing she was here, he would talk to her about everything while laying on her laps and she would hold him tight, her hands on his hair.
Adrian feels so overwhelmed with to many emotions he just couldn't get his head straight, he picked up his leather jacket, his car keys headed downstairs, just as he was about to leave, he bumps into Ariana.
"What are you doing here?" he asks irritated
"chill, Adrian I just wanted to see you, I thought you have something to say after ruining my party" she said with a smirk as she fondled with her hair.
"I'm heading out" he says trying to get past her
"oh nice we could go hang out" she insist
"Get the fuck out" his voice comes out like a low growl, instantly sending signals to Ariana that she is not wanted here, she instantly graps her purse in anger and leaves. Ariana has been trying to get Adrian's attention for years but she just couldn't get even a bit, surprisingly he even seem to be giving his own enemy Maya his attention. Ariana wasn't ready to back out yet, she must get him.
Adrian had no idea where he was going but right now he just needed to clear his head, bringing out his phone he started checking out something, got an address he put the address in his GPS, soon he was parked outside a house so late at night, 'why am I here?' he thought to himself.
"Honey!! Come see this" Kate called out, Maya came downstairs
"what is it mum?" she asked already tired
"who is that" Kate asked as she pointed outside the window, it was a very expensive car parked outside with a figure resting against car, hard to see due to the darkness. Maya thought it was Xavier, but she saw his car drive away, she wasn't sure who was standing outside her house.
"I'll go and check" she said
"no, no maybe we should call the cops" Kate suggested
"no mum, just let it be" Maya said immediately as she had a realisation that that might be Adrian she wasn't exactly sure why Adrian would just show up at her house late at night like a stalker.
Adrian just stood there staring at the little cramped house, he kept mentally scolding himself for being here, he had no idea why he had pulled up here, he just wanted to calm his emotions, and to his greatest surprise his emotions had actually calmed down. With that Adrian got into his car and drove off.
