At the Cole's mansion. Victor had just told Adrian his plan of pushing him into college before time, Adrian knew this would happen but no this soon how was he going to tell his father that he wasn't even interested in doing business nad wants to study something else in the university. Adrian was in his room, holding his mums picture when a slight knock came at his door
"what is it" he asked
"sir someone is here to see you" a servant said from behind the door.
"I'll be there" he said wondering who it was, he got up, there she was sitting comfortably in his sitting room
"wtf are you doing here?" Adrian asked surprised to see Maya in his house
"didn't you tell me to be here for the project?" she said innocently, that was when it dawned on him, Adrian hadn't really expected her to show up
"how did you get my home address" he asked
"that's not a problem" she replied nonchalantly pulling out different books from her backpack, he just stood there staring at her, she seemed different and something about her just seemed to amaze him, he had always tried to bully Maya because of how stubborn she was he just wanted to break her down, but now staring at her innocence he just felt like protecting her, she looked so delicate and fragile was this why Xavier took interest in her? He wondered.
"you should at least serve your visitor something even a glass of water is fine, don't just stand there" her voice broke his train of thought
"What... Hey you, don't you dare get comfortable in my own house or else.. " he threatened, clearly irritated, Maya could only roll her eyes at him
"you actually look good today seems like you decided to dress your best while showing up, hmm what are your plans" he blurted out only to curse himself, Adrian hadn't expected that to come out, Maya didn't even comment, 'what was she trying to do, it made her seem superior' he thought.
"Alexa play some music" Adrian ordered the Ai system, just then loud music was already playing with a smirk dancing on his face.
"I'm trying to read and you are playing music?" Maya shouted over the loud music, just then he bent over, his body looming over hers it was like he was about to lay on her, then he tilted his neck to her side, his hot breath against her ear
"seriously miss Summer don't get to comfortable with me" he whispered into her ear, sending chills down her body, he slowly inhaled her scent, Maya quickly pushed him of her. He just let out a chuckle, he wasn't even studying or helping her out, well of course what did she expect, Maya knew she was in a mess, to her it was important she wins this competition, but how will she do it with such a partner he was hell bent on making her fail.
Just then a thought came to her mind while he was busy pouring his self drinks Maya wondered where his family members were, the house seemed empty despite the numbers of servants roaming around, putting that aside along with the loud music, Maya started making some research, just when she was done putting her work down on neat piece of paper, he walked up to her
"let me see what you have done so far" he said as he snatched the paper of her hands, his eyes going through the paper, Adrian was really impressed, he knew Maya was smart but being able to put all this together in less than 30 minutes and that too with this much music.
"wtf is this?" he said as he tore the paper into pieces
"Adrian!" Maya yelled getting up she rushed at him grabbing his collar
"don't you dare mess with me" she said rage in her eyes, aggressively he just pushed her, sending her crashing forcefully to the ground, Maya hit her heard so bad at the table edge it was already bleeding.
"What were you thinking, super woman? Rushing at me like that? Really a fool" he mocked, throwing all her books to the floor he just stood there watching her with a smug expression. Just then Xavier came rushing in, 'fuck' Adrian sighed wondering what on earth Xavier was doing here.
"Maya are you okay?" he rushed to her helping her get up, as he ordered one of the servants to get a first aid box.
"Are you out of your mind Adrian?" Xavier yelled.
"She started it" Adrian said casually with his hands in his pocket he just sat opposite them, watching as Xavier applied treatment to her wound, he did it with tenderness, touching her carefully and soothing her pains, watching him take care of her like that, really stroke a cord inside of him but he just didn't know what it was, but he knew he couldn't just sit and watch them it made him uncomfortable, he just got up and went to his room.
"what are you doing here" Maya asked not pleased
"Saving you from him, you shouldn't have agreed to study here, Adrian is going to keep bullying you and you know that" he said
"I don't need you saving me from your own best friend" she said with an eye roll.
"I know you are upset, why don't we go out for ice cream" he insisted
"I have a project to do" she said bluntly
"you have a couple of days for that, just come on, you said you forgived me right, now just forget about this for a moment, I'll talk to Adrian" he said as he helped her gather her stuff.
"I can handle him myself" she said as she got up,
Adrian was just staring from his window as Maya got into Xavier's car, he wondered why Xavier was treating her with so much care, "maybe am only paranoid, I don't know the concept of love unlike Xavier" he muttered to himself.
