Handing the syringe back with a bored flick of her wrist, she muttered, "How did you ever fall for such a coward?"
Anna spared Daniel only a passing glance. "Stop talking and just get the blood test done."
"Got it," Dennis said, this time focused. She quickly and efficiently drew a vial of blood.
As she worked, Kyle stepped out of a nearby room.
His gaze landed on the pathetic figure slumped in the chair, and disgust twisted across his young face. "Is this loser really my biological father?"
Anna glanced at the man still unconscious and gave a careless shrug. "No, your dad was very passionate that night. Not this pathetic."
Kyle stared at her like she had completely lost her mind.
His little face scrunched in disdain. "Ew... I'm still a kid. You shouldn't be telling me these things."
For a second, it felt like even her own son was scorning her.
Anna quickly straightened up, cleared her throat, and changed the subject.
