Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 20: AN UNEXPECTED DINNER CELEBRATION DATE WITH FRIENDS

After a moment, he felt much better and spoke his mind. "Accompany me to CIRCLE tonight. I need a drink!"

[Oh~ Hehe, who pissed you off that you want to go there? Oh! It doesn't matter. Just tell me the time and this guy here will definitely go with you!]

Harrison chuckled angrily as he listened to his friend's remarks. If the other wasn't his close friend. Who knows what kind of damage he would have inflicted?

"Good. I will send you the time," he held his breath as he said that and without waiting for the friend to answer, hung up and exhaled deeply.

After experiencing such a feat in the morning. He wanted to loosen up. Otherwise, he would be traumatized.

However, when he thought about Liam. Although he didn't know the other very well, he couldn't help but be curious.

"Who is behind him?" he asked curiously, rubbing his chin as he tried to recall the people who were close to Queen.

Meanwhile, Liam was all smiles after leaving the agency that he had been with for so many years. He looked gratefully at Queen.

"Heh, don't look at me like that. You will make that tigress jealous," Queen teasingly said as she gave Liam a look.

Liam shyly scratched his head when he heard that understanding who the tigress in the statement was.

"If you are grateful then treat my friend better. This might still be shocking to you but Sonia isn't the kind of person who does things impulsively," Queen added with a smile as she spoke on behalf of her friend. "You must be special otherwise; she wouldn't waste her final chance of marrying a husband."

Until now, she was still wondering why Sonia decided to marry on a whim just like that. As Sonia's best friend, she knew literally every man who was around her and yet this young man was none of them.

So why did Sonia marry Liam in such a hurry like that?

There should be an unspeakable reason, right?

The same question was haunting Liam. After all, he would be a fool to believe the reason that Sonia gave him.

Who dared waste such a chance to marry someone who was about to die?

It doesn't make common sense at all.

SAWYERS HEADQUARTERS

Ta.ta.ta.ta.

The sound of the keyboards being tapped sounded in the office as Sonia typed very fast on her laptop, looking very serious with a frown appearing now and there.

She looked busy with her work and a string of words filled the screen as more words continued to be added to the document that she was working on.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Amidst her busyness, her private phone started ringing. She gritted her teeth as she raised her head, looking away from the screen and her gaze shifting to the phone that was a short distance away; just within her hands' reach.

'Queen.'

She read the caller's ID, and a smile appeared on her expressionless face.

"Is it done already?" she excitedly thought as she reached out for the phone.

She swiped the screen to answer and pressed the speaker button before humming as she answered.

[Will it kill you to speak a word?]

Sonia chuckled knowingly as soon as that was said. She could already picture the other party rolling her eyes in frustration.

"Who told you to disturb me in the middle of something serious?" Sonia retorted playfully as she stretched her aching arms.

[Tche! Madam boss, busy as always. It's not like I will take too much of your time!]

Sonia smiled when she heard that and propped her elbows on the desk as she asked, "So, do you have any good news for me?"

[Who am I? Hehe, I have settled the matter. Your husband is a free man now. Managed to get the contract terminated without spending a single penny!] Queen reported boastfully and Sonia's eyes sparkled as she listened to that.

Being able to solve some serious matters without suffering a loss was one thing that she loved hearing the most. When you can do so, life will just work and flow the way you want it to.

She was glad that it worked out in their favor this time without anyone causing a fuss.

"That's good and him?"

[Um~~~ you are already thinking about your little hubby!] Queen teasingly cooed and Sonia felt her cheeks heating up at being teased but she couldn't even retort.

"Where is he?"

[Hehe, don't worry. I will not touch him. He just left. Should be headed to his place now.]

Sonia's expression softened when she heard that.

"That's good. I will call him later."

[Yes, yes. You better do so. Anyway, I called to inform you about that as well as tell you that we are meeting at CIRCLE later.]

Sonia's eyes widened when she heard that. "We are meeting there tonight! Why didn't I know?" she asked surprisingly at this sudden event she had no clue about.

[Umph! Who made you remarry today? The gang wants to celebrate with you. So, you aren't allowed to miss it!]

Only then did she understand what was going on. A helpless smile appeared on her face before responding, "Fine. I will attend. When is it? And who is attending?" she couldn't help but be curious about that.

Queen chuckled but still responded truthfully. [Tom, Jim, George, Talent and Kathy.]

She sighed with relief when she heard the list. These people were basically her friends and of course, two of her ex-husbands were also on the list. Who made her remain friends with them despite the heartbreak?

It's not like it was their fault.

"Okay, what time are we meeting?"

[Um, let's have dinner there. So, I guess that around 7 pm. You should be there by then!]

Sonia smiled when she heard the answer and gave Queen a confirmation. The two of them chatted merrily for a while before the call finally ended.

After ending the call, Sonia was hesitating whether to call Liam or not when the phone started ringing. Seeing his name on the screen, a smile unconsciously blossomed on her face before answering, "Um."

[I … good afternoon!] his nervous voice rang in her ears and Sonia's eyes squinted in amusement.

"Afternoon as well. I heard that you are done?" seeing that her young husband was still shy she decided to take control of the conversation.

[Y-yes, it was settled well. Thank you for doing that!]

"I promised and I will not eat my words," she nonchalantly said not finding her actions that exaggerated. She had done worse than that before so why act like she had done something that big?

Nonetheless, Liam's grateful voice rang in her ears once again and suddenly she felt warm listening to him showing his gratitude.

[I …. Are you perhaps free, later?] he asked nervously and Sonia could hear that, miles away.

Her lips tugged upward upon hearing that, wondering what the young man was planning.
