Chapter 11 - Neon City

By the time Samantha came out of the room, a warm breakfast was already laid on the table, and a warm, delicious smell wafted into the air.

A smile involuntarily appeared on Samantha's face when she saw the food.

"Thanks for the delicious breakfast, Aunty!" She said with excitement and quickly sat on the chair.

"Glutton," Katy snorted from beside her. A bit annoyed as she too had helped in the preparation.

Samantha pretended not to notice her irritation and began eating breakfast along with Katy's mom.

Katy sighed in a defeated manner and joined them the next moment.

After the meal, the two of them saw Katy's mother out as she left for the shop at ten thirty in the morning.

Usually, she would go to the shop by half past nine in the morning, but because Samantha was here today, she had postponed it by an hour.

"Study well, you two," Katy's mother told the two of them as she entered her mini truck.

"Yes, Aunty! We'll make sure to ace that exam, hehe," Samantha said with drive, which brought a smile on the face of Katy's mother. She waved at them and left the next moment.

"Let's go and study then," Katy said a couple of seconds later.

"How about we grab a cup of coffee before?" Samantha suggested while pointing towards her scootie.

"Who was it that just said we are going to ace the exam a few seconds ago?" Katy stared at Samantha with narrowed eyes.

"T-that…we'll feel lethargic now that we have had breakfast. To make sure we can study without trouble, isn't it better to have coffee first?" Samantha tried to justify her words with an embarrassed expression on her face.

Katy just snorted and said, "Wait for me in my room then. I'll make two cups of coffee for us."

Defeated, Samantha accepted her loss and the two walked back to the apartment to study.

Since it was morning and both of their minds were fresh, Katy made sure to ask several questions related to topics that would be asked in the exam to Samantha, who couldn't help but whine that she was deliberately asking her tough questions.

"If you don't even know that, then forget about clearing the exam," Katy always gave a similar reply whenever Samantha acted like that, and in this manner, the two of them studied until it was five in the evening.

"I'll be going then…" Samantha said with difficulty and left for her house.

'I'll never be coming again for a group study with her again,' She thought to herself while going down the stairs.

However, unlike Samantha on Katy's face, there was an expression of satisfaction.

"With all those topics which I've ingrained in her head today, there's no way she's going to fail the test." Katy grinned to herself and started dinner preparation to lessen the load on her mother.

Her mother arrived by seven in the evening, and after sharing a hearty dinner with her, Katy went back to her room to study further.

At around one in the morning, she turned off aeroplane mode on her phone for a short break, and a few strings of texts followed by a few images from an unsaved number appeared on her messaging app.

With a slight frown, Katy opened the messages and read through them.

'Didn't you tell me to tell him face-to-face? That's what I did, and here are the results. Jealous? Haha, you must be. You never thought that I would be able to steal his heart, did you? Have fun in that lowly agency while I'll rise in the ranks along with Victor in here. Sorry, not sorry hahaha!'

As Katy finished reading the text, a subtle, expectant smirk appeared on her face as she downloaded those images.

Soon a bunch of intimate pictures of Gwen and Victor inside a nightclub appeared before her. Seeing this, Katy could no longer control her smirk and started laughing loudly at the scene.

It was only when she was reminded of her mother in the next room that she controlled herself and lowered her voice.

However, an amused smile was still plastered on her face as she said to herself, "Isnt this a match made in heaven?"

Wanting to give Gwen the satisfaction she needed, Katy texted a 'Did I ask?' to her and blocked her number the very next moment.

Now that Katy's mood was all cheered up by this incident, she went back to her studies and went to bed at half past two.

From the next day onwards, she was no longer contacted by either Gwen or Victor and was thus able to solely focus on her studies.

Catching up with Samantha and helping her mother with house chores were Katy's only pastimes, and the rest of her time she devoted to her studies.

Days passed on like this, one after another, and finally it was time for the entrance test for Gior.

Early in the morning, Katy, along with Samantha, took a metro from the nearest metro station.

After an hour and a half of changing several metro lines, they finally reached Neon City.

Being the country's capital, it was obvious that the moment they got out, they were faced with a crowd of people. However, the two of them managed to squish through the incoming crowd and finally left the metro station.

"Gosh! Why did they have only one exam centre in the entire country? If not for our town being close, we would have wasted several days on travelling," Samantha said in frustration while wiping off the sweat from her forehead.

Katy couldn't help but smile at Samantha's words, as these were Katy's exact thoughts in her previous life when she had arrived here for the exam.

"It can't be helped. Since they are new, they only have an office in the capital. Still, it's quite impressive that a newly listed entertainment agency managed to build an office here." Katy said with the intention of calming Samantha down and waved towards a nearby taxi.

The two soon entered the taxi and left for Gior's exam venue.
