"Yes Mr Ragnolf?" Mr fredrick looked up from the textbook he was studying to face the intruder who barged into his office without knocking.
"I can't take it anymore. I want out!" Lupus cried out in dreary tone.
"Take what more? Be specific lad."
Lupus sighed before speaking "i don't need a tutor anymore, maybe not 'that' tutor. Anybody but lucy." His face turned green with disgust.
"Hmm...son the circumstances may not befit your expectations but your grades are in shabbles and the only way to fix it is to have extra tutorial classes. Lucy is great and will have your grades up in no time." The lecturer insisted, knowing how uninterested students feel about extra tutorials.
Lupus grunted.
"What am i to do, watch your grades drop and do nothing?" He placed the book on the table gently.
"I know you're trying to help but this way is not working. I need you to help me." Lupus pleaded.
"I am helping you." He waved his hand.
"No. Thanks for the assistance but lucy is way out of it. I can't focus, i can't study, and if i can't study and focus, my grades can never go higher, do you want me to fail, Mr Frederick?" Lupus spoke in a faint hearted tone.
"What is wrong with lucy, she seems great."
"Yeah. Until she starts snorting, squealing and sniffing me all day! My books are always getting drenched by sea salt moist. Ugh mr fredrick have you seen what she does with her gills?" He gagged to show his disgust.
"Uh come on! Those are simply siren traits. What if i had attached you to a big foot or elf, would you use their shedding excuse to bail or would the floral smell been a problem? Don't judge lucy for being a siren, she's great and just what you need." Mr fredrick spoke with a note of finalcy.
"I am not judging her for what she is, i am simply saying i can't bear her uniqueness anymore. I don't do sirens." Lupus voice broke at this point to show his weariness of the situation.
Mr Frederick thought for a while then said "i can only do one thing. If you promise, and show more commitment in your studies and do better in the next set of tests then i might let you off the hook, and maybe even let you have your choice tutor."
Lupus eyes widened in excitement, he happily thanked mr fredrick and danced out of the office.
As promised, lupus did well in his tests, mr fredrick commended his efforts and held his end of the bargain to revoke the assigned tutor he gave to lupus.
Lupus was happy to be set free from the siren's grip. His happiness was not complete yet as he hadn't been able to come up with a good plan on how to get closer to valzella.
The test week ended and classes resumed. Lupus always grit his teeth and clenched his fists every class he shared with valzella and Theodulf, the two grew fond of each other by the day, due to this, he dreaded those classes and wished he could ditch them but with his previous tests scores, he could only wish and not do.
He finally came close to being lucky one morning on his way back from his morning runs, he bumped into valzella while she was on her way to school, she went out cycling that morning (she worked out to build her strength).
He ran into her without knowing as he was crossing the street from an opposite lane, they didn't see each other quick enough and by the time they did it was already late, they both crashed to the ground.
He stood up quickly and extended a hand to help who he crashed into by accident, when he saw that it was her, he blushed in excitement but pretended to be cool.
"Learn to watch where you're going before you kill someone!" He fired at her.
"Well. Now that you said it, i am not the one running across the street blindly, you could have been hit by something way worse, what if i was driving a car or motorcycle?"
She shot back at him, still getting off the ground and trying to raise her bike.
He tried to help but she waived it down, she successfully raised her bike then looked up to see who it was, when she saw it was him she wore a scowl on her face "of all people it had to be you didn't it? Watch where you're going next time so you don't end up killing someone!" She said.
"Me? Kill someone? It should be you who needs to more careful. Who goes around cycling like that on the street? It's a street for goodness sake, people are crossing, walking and strolling all the time." He complained trying to linger the argument.
"Me?....you know what? Whatever, you won't ruin my day like you've done others in the past." She pushed her bike while she walked beside it.
The chain got twisted in the crash so it could not be ridden. She walked past him and brushed her shoulder with hers intentionally to show her disgust.
He held her arm in an attempt to stop her cause he spotted some bruises she sustained from the fall.
"Let go of me lupus!" She hissed in a low warning tone.
"You're injured. Please let me help." He said in a caring tone.
"It's nothing, i'm fine." She said and continued walking but he stopped her. She sighed as she grew more irritated by him.
"Let me help" he tried to take a look at the bruises but she slapped off his hand and angrily said "i said i am perfectly fine, it's just a bruise."
"Yeah but it's not healing" he said.
"Duh...news flash! It only heals after a full moon, that is why you shouldn't go crashing into people like that cause unlike you and the rest, not everyone heals as fast as you all do!" She said in a loud angry tone.
"I'm sorry, what can i do to help?" He asked.
"Nothing. Do nothing!" she replied.
"I want to help." He insisted.
"Yeah, like you've done so far. These bruises are nothing compared to the wounds you added to me by calling me a sting grey. Can you erase or fix that?! The entire school called me that for weeks, can you erase how it made me feel? Can you fix my spirit after breaking it with those sneers you passed to me when i walk past you in the hallway? It's too late to try to fool me cause it won't work, you don't have to act nice around here cause your fans aren't around to cheer you or drool around you. Drop the mr nice act and keep your pity to yourself!" She dumped the bike and walked off angrily, limping slightly due to a pain on the hip she hit on the ground.
Lupus watched her walked off like that, he looked at the bike on his feet, then sighed heavily.
He bit his lip in regret, how messy of him to lose her like that, he should've played nice and maybe it would have gotten him on her good side. He slapped the back of his head repeatedly, then picked up the bike and took it away.
