With the full moon being a silver moon and just few days away, everyone was in high spirit.
Silver full moons are regarded special and highly sacred, they are believed to bring special spiritual powers and they only appear seven times in a decade.
Such nights are marked sacred night by werewolves, on such nights, werewolves bath in a special potion and apply a special ointment on their fur to receive whatever special power the silver moon endows them with.
It was after a silver moon night that valzella took her first steps as a pup, mrs adolpha hopes this one would yield a better improvement in valzella's health and strength.
The students were allowed to go outside the school into the neighbouring towns to purchase whatever extra item they would be needing for the silver night.
Valzella and lupita didn't feel the need to get anything cause as usual, lupita would waste the night locked up in an impenetrable cellar in her parent's mansion, she does this to avoid transforming to her werecat form as a result of the moon light, and valzella would be trapped in, fighting for her life from the excruciating pains she would be going through due to the effect of the silver moon.
So to them, it was a dreaded period they never looked forward to.
Valzella consented to be home to sit this one out after much pleas from her mother.
Mrs adolpha wanted her home because the outcome of the silver night could not be predicted, this is no ordinary night like others, things could turn out weird, worse or critical.
Mrs Adolpha created a special chamber after valzella's first silver night that traps the moonlight and converts it to an energy that is passed into her body, this way, the moonlight's negative effect can be brought down to a controllable level, the chamber is attached to different machines that reads her organs' vital level.
There was a standby medical team in case of emergency. So leaving valzella at school would be a great risk, for herself and everyone.
Theodulf begged to go home with her when she told him all about the plan for the night but she refused for obvious reasons.
A day before the night, valzella, lupita and other students who chose to leave school got set and packed their stuff ready to hit the road.
"This is cruel!" Theodulf lamented as he walked her to the car.
"I know. I asked my mom if you could come but she refused, she can be a really hard nut to crack. I'm so sorry." She said to him.
"I'm gonna miss you badly. What would i do without you around? My sisters can be a real bore when they want to be. This silver night may be my worse so far." He whined.
"Aww. But it's just for two days." She said.
"Yeah, but it feels like eternity. The thought of being away from you sucks." He sucked his teeth as he spoke.
"Aww, it'll be done before you know it." She tried to reassure him.
"It should be over this instant!" He said.
She giggled "come on, you know it doesn't work like that"
He sighed exasperatedly.
"So. What will you do in my absentia?" She asked as they loaded her bag into the trunk of the car.
"I dunno, maybe hang out with my boring sisters and spooky lupita." He shuddered as he said the las words.
"Hey...that's my best friend you're talking about. She's not spooky." She nudged him as she spoke.
"She is, she appears out of nowhere without making a sound and always frightens me out of my skin." He explained.
"She's a cat. And cats are known for their stealth mode appearances and quiet steps and oh, i forgot to mention, she won't be here for the silver moon event." She said.
"Really? Why?" He asked.
"She has a thing she does every full moon at home."
"Aww sitting the silver moon with her family. That's really sweet." He said smiling sheepishly.
The look on valzella's face said he's not supposed to be smiling, he stopped smiling as soon as she gave him the look. He gave a 'what?' Look to her.
"Haven't you heard? She lost both parents when she was just a kitten on a full moon's night, so she stays by herself in the house to connect with them on every full moon." She said each word individually.
"Oh dear! I am so sorry." He apologized for what he said earlier.
"It's cool, it's in the past now and she has moved on, she only does those stuff to honor their memory cause she had few years with them before their sad passing." She explained.
"That must have been one hell of an experience." He said.
"It was. It's not easy being at the bad side of a bad story." She said.
"I shudder each time i imagine what you both had to go through because of your differences and sad story." He felt really sorry for the both of them.
"It pays to be different." Valzella shrugged, smiled then frowned when she turned her eyes to the street and caught sight of lupus "especially with the likes of him around." Her mood became gloomy all of a sudden. She didn't tell Theodulf about the bike incident with lupus, when he noticed her bruises and limp she told him she had a freak accident and was nothing to worry about.
Theodulf noticed her changed mood and followed her eyes to observe what she saw, he looked across the street towards the direction she had looked at, he sighed when he sighted lupus.
"Speak of the devil." He said while lupus crossed over to meet them. "Why is he coming over here?" Theodulf asked no one in particular. Valzella sighed.
"What do you want me to do?" Theodulf asked her knowing she dreaded seeing him, he was willing to do anything she wished at that moment.
He personally does not hate lupus, he just didn't appreciate the way he treated valzella.
