Wayne Enterprises.

In this world, everyone knew what that name represented.

Although it was often overshadowed by Stark Industries in the field of technology, Wayne Enterprises was a veritable behemoth. While Stark focused on heavy industry, military technology, and artificial intelligence, the Wayne Consortium's reach extended into every facet of life: financial investment, pharmaceuticals, civil aerospace, railways, shipbuilding, and even video games and toys.

It was often said that the Wayne Consortium owned nearly half of Gotham City. This was no exaggeration.

So, this is the "connection" my aunt was talking about?

As if guessing Leo's thoughts, Alfred, the butler, waved a hand, and all the workers immediately filed out of the apartment.

"I am here on behalf of the head of the Wayne family, Master Bruce Wayne," Alfred said with a gentle smile. "I came to meet with Miss Diana and discuss a few things with her."

Before he could finish, the door to one of the other rooms opened, and Diana walked in, her bearing graceful and noble.

"Miss Diana," Alfred said, bowing slightly, his eyes filled with respect.

"Hello," Diana replied with a slight nod. She glanced at Alfred, then took Leo's hand and sat down on the sofa. "Sit," she said to Alfred.

"Thank you, Miss Diana," he said, taking a seat opposite them, his posture impeccably straight.

"If you have something to say, say it," Diana said. "You don't need to hide anything from Leo."

"Of course," Alfred replied, giving Leo a surprised look. "Master Bruce had intended to come himself, but an urgent matter in Gotham has prevented him from leaving. He sent me in his stead."

Leo frowned. Bruce Wayne. The name was as famous as his company. He was the current heir to the Wayne Consortium, a man who held the economic lifeline of Gotham City in his hand. But like Tony Stark, he had a reputation for being a playboy.

"Master Bruce wishes to form a cooperative relationship with you, Miss Diana," Alfred continued. "If you are willing, you and your family may move to any residence of your choosing in Gotham City. The young master will also be provided with the best local education, medical care, and other services."

"Cooperation? What kind of cooperation?" Leo asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Bruce Wayne is the Batman of Gotham City," Diana explained. "He has an idea to form an alliance of individuals with different abilities, and he wants to discuss it with me."

"Oh," Leo said, his tone surprisingly flat.

Alfred was taken aback. A normal person, upon learning Batman's true identity, would be ecstatic. But this boy… he seemed completely unfazed. He didn't know that just last night, this family had treated a literal myth as a simple family matter. In comparison, what was Batman's secret identity?

"The alliance is just an idea at this point," Alfred said with a smile. "Master Bruce is not even sure if it will come to fruition. After all, extraordinary individuals are not so easy to find. However, we are still willing to pay any price to have you in Gotham City."

"This is not my promise," Alfred said, his tone filled with a quiet pride, "but the promise of Master Bruce, of the entire Wayne Consortium."

No one would question his pride. The promise of the Wayne Consortium was something that even a head of state would be moved by.

Diana didn't answer. Instead, she looked at Leo. "What do you think?"

"Me?" Leo was stunned.

Alfred was also taken aback. He had done his research. He knew that Diana was an intelligent and decisive woman. But now, when faced with such a momentous decision, she was asking a child for his opinion. It was as if Leo were the master of the house.

Leo understood. His aunt was giving him a choice. If he said yes, they would move to Gotham City. He would have access to the best of everything. He could live a life of luxury and ease, all under the protection of the Wayne Consortium.

But…

He shook his head.

"Why?" Alfred asked, confused. "Do you not yearn for a life in Gotham City? With the help of the Wayne Foundation, you could have almost anything you want."

"You misunderstand me, Alfred," Leo said, his eyes shining. "I do yearn for it. Very few people in this world would be unmoved by such an offer."

"But then why…?"

"Because I don't want my choice to affect my aunt's," Leo said calmly. "You want us in Gotham because of her abilities, not because of me. If she is interested in your alliance, I would be happy to see her join. She doesn't need any promises or care from the Wayne Consortium to do so. But if she doesn't want to join, then no matter how good the offer is, I cannot accept."

"I see," Alfred said, his eyes filled with a newfound appreciation for the boy.

"That's my answer as well," Diana said softly. "For now, I am not interested in Bruce Wayne's alliance. So, I'm sorry."

"I understand," Alfred said with a smile, getting to his feet. "I will relay your message to Master Bruce."

"Alfred," Leo said, stopping him at the door. "Thank you for renovating my home. I will repay you for this someday."

"This is my promise," the boy said, his voice filled with a seriousness that belied his age.

Alfred nodded, a silent acknowledgment that he would remember it.
