The newly completed Stark Industries headquarters was a testament to the city's wealth and power. Its futuristic, spinning design and the massive, unique "STARK" logo made it a standout even among the skyscrapers of downtown New York. The top floor was a luxurious lobby and exterior platform, large enough for a fighter jet to land on.

"So, what do you think?" a man in a decent black suit asked, a red wine glass in his hand. He spread his arms wide, the blue light of the arc reactor in his chest glowing through his shirt, as if he were embracing the city outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Behind him, another man stepped forward. He was dressed in a gray shirt, overalls, and Martin boots, his hair and appearance sloppy and completely out of place in the opulent surroundings.

"Well," the sloppy man said, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "It's definitely your style."

Tony Stark smiled. "This will be the headquarters of our alliance."

"Couldn't be better," the sloppy man shrugged. "It'll definitely give us a bit of a class upgrade. I don't have any money, so the most I can do is contribute some muscle."

"Not just muscle," Tony said, shaking his head and looking at him sincerely. "Banner, I need your wisdom, too. With your help, I believe many of my ideas can become a reality."

The man named "Banner" was noncommittal, his face surprisingly calm in the face of such high praise from an industry giant. He knew he had the intellect to back it up.

His full name was Robert Bruce Banner. A world-renowned physicist with seven Ph.D.s, he had been living in anonymity for years. He had another, secret identity, the reason he had been hiding from the world: the Hulk. The Abomination that had appeared in the other city was an indirect product of his own creation.

"Banner," Tony started to say, but a warning sound buzzed from somewhere on the top floor.

"J.A.R.V.I.S., what's happening?" he asked, frowning.

From a desktop in the lobby, hundreds of rays of light intertwined in the air, forming a three-dimensional virtual projection.

"Sir," the artificial intelligence responded in a gentle, concise male voice, "there has been a special incident involving an extraordinary in Queens. This is the footage from the scene."

Banner looked at the projection, his curiosity piqued.

The video began with a scream. On a busy modern street, a modified muscle car was roaring at maximum horsepower. It ran a red light, crashed through an intersection, and slammed into several cars, sending sparks flying. Then, in a panic, it swerved into oncoming traffic, accelerating.

Just as it was about to crash into a line of parked cars, the pupils of both Tony and Banner shrank.

The fast-moving muscle car suddenly stopped, as if it had hit an invisible wall. A black, foggy shadow flashed by, and the front of the car was abruptly and strangely dented inward. Then, the entire car was split in two and burst open, as if torn apart by some terrifying force.

A more horrifying scene followed. The remains of several men were thrown from the exploding car, scattering across the street. Two of the bodies landed in the middle of a crowd of dumbfounded pedestrians.

Screams erupted again. The black shadow flickered at the intersection and then chased into one of the side streets.

The video ended.

"What the hell was that?" Tony asked, looking at Banner with a surprised expression.

Banner just shook his head, saying he hadn't seen it clearly either.

"J.A.R.V.I.S., rewind the footage," Tony instructed.

The video played in reverse until the moment the muscle car was destroyed.

"Right there," Tony said solemnly. "Zoom in on the front of the car and play it in slow motion."

Under the slow-motion, zoomed-in lens, they could clearly see a small black beast darting through the parked cars and hitting the front of the muscle car like a cannonball.

"Frame by frame," Tony said.

The image froze. In the still frame, they could finally see the mysterious creature.

Banner's eyes widened in shock.

It was a cat. A black cat, with a smooth, tough-looking coat.

As the kitten crashed into the muscle car, the car's forward momentum was completely arrested. Then, the kitten's body suddenly expanded, its limbs bulging with huge, tough muscles. A pair of hideous front paws violently tore the car in half.

The moment the car was ripped apart, the weird and terrifying black monster shrank back to its kitten form and darted after one of the flying bodies.

"What kind of creature is that?" Tony's face grew more dignified. But what shocked him even more was that Dr. Banner, standing next to him, had suddenly turned a shade of green, and his body was twitching slightly.

"J.A.R.V.I.S.!" Tony said, subconsciously stepping back onto a specific spot in the lobby.

A metal platform rose from the floor beneath him. A series of manipulators and parts began to assemble pieces of red and gold armor onto his body. Within five seconds, he was completely encased in the Iron Man suit, the arc reactor in his chest and the eye sockets of his helmet glowing with a white light.

"Calm down, Banner!" he said, raising a hand to comfort the now-green-tinged man.

"I-I'm fine," Banner said, clenching his fists and taking deep breaths. His complexion shifted back and forth between green and white. Finally, he leaned on a table, and the bulging veins on his neck disappeared.

Tony let out a sigh of relief. "You stay here," he said. "I'll take care of this."

"Wait, Tony," Banner said, stopping him. He pointed to the black shadow on the virtual screen. "That monster is very dangerous. Seeing it… it was like I was putting a gun in my own mouth and pulling the trigger. My body instinctively wanted to… become the Hulk."
