In Kai's room.
The door clicked shut behind them.
"Are you angry?" Hana asked softly, her eyes searching his face.
He shook his head, though his gaze slid away. "No."
Her lips curved. "It's funny how easily you get angry."
He turned back to her, one brow arching. "You think that's funny?"
Hana nodded, fighting the smile tugging at her lips.
Kai stepped closer, closing the space between them until she could feel the weight of his presence. His voice dropped, deep and deliberate. "I think you smile too much."
"I do?" Her eyes widened.
He nodded, his gaze lingering on her face. "I don't like it."
Her faint smile slipped into a playful grin. "Why not?"
Kai exhaled, almost helpless. "There it is again. You're smiling."
"Do I look bad when I smile?" she teased.
"Quite the opposite." His expression softened, his voice carrying a rare glint of sincerity. "What if someone falls in love with you because of how beautiful it is?"
Her laugh spilled out, light and nervous, her heart racing. "What are you even saying?"
He only smiled at her, but before he could speak again, a knock shattered the moment.
"I'll get it," he murmured, striding to the door.
The maid bowed politely. "Young master, I've brought your dinner."
Kai stepped aside as she wheeled in a trolley, arranging the dishes neatly on the small dining table before slipping out again with another bow.
"You eat first," Kai said gently, turning back to Hana. "I'll shower and join you."
"Alright," Hana replied, settling down at the table.
But just as he was about to head toward the bathroom, something on the trolley caught his eye—a small, glossy case tucked beside the dishes. His gaze flicked to Hana's bare hand, realization striking like a slap.
Groaning, he pressed a palm to his forehead. "Of course. I knew I forgot something."
"What is it?" Hana asked, puzzled by his sudden change.
Kai crossed the room in three strides, snatched the box, and returned to her. "This." He handed it over.
Hana opened the case—and froze.
Inside, two diamond rings gleamed under the warm light, catching the air between them with a brilliance that felt too real, too intimate. Her breath hitched, eyes widening in shock.
Kai's voice was low, almost reverent. "Our wedding rings."
