The silence in the captain's quarters was so thick, Ace could have cut it with his father's sword. The commanders—Marco, Jozu, and Vista—stared at him, their faces a perfect, comical blend of shock, disbelief, and a tiny, flickering spark of insanity.

"Find... Aokiji?" Marco repeated slowly, as if the words were a foreign language he was struggling to translate. "You mean the former Marine Admiral, Kuzan? The man who was on the other side of the battlefield trying to kill us some days ago? That Aokiji?"

"That's the one," Ace said, his grin never faltering.

Jozu, a man of few words and immense physical presence, took a step forward. "Ace, have you finally gone mad? Why would he ever join us? And why would we ever trust him?"

"Because we're not going to offer him a dog job," Ace explained, his tone shifting from audacious to sharply strategic. He leaned forward, his voice dropping. "We're going to offer him a purpose. Think about it. Kuzan left the Marines because he couldn't stand serving under a fanatic like Sakazuki. His 'Lazy Justice' was a joke, but the core of it was real. He has a moral compass. Right now, he's a masterless ronin, disillusioned with the world. He sees a new Fleet Admiral turning the Marines into a weapon of absolute, unquestioning slaughter, another evil."

Ace paused, letting his words sink in. "We're not another evil. We protect our territories. We have a code. We are a family. We're going to offer him a third option. A chance to fight for something that isn't corrupt, a chance to keep the world from falling into the hands of a mad dog or a devil. We're not recruiting an Admiral; we're recruiting the man who is trying to find his own justice."

The commanders were silent, the sheer, insane logic of the plan dawning on them. It was a gamble on a cosmic scale, but the potential payoff... it was world-changing.

"Alright," Marco finally said, a slow, impressed grin spreading across his face. "You're completely insane. I love it. I'll put out feelers through our networks. If anyone can find a ghost like Kuzan, it's us." He then turned, his expression growing somber. "But before we do that, there's someone else we need to talk to about this."

He led Ace from the tense strategy meeting to the quiet, sterile confines of the ship's main infirmary. The scent of antiseptic and blood hung in the air. There, in a massive, custom-built bed, lay Whitebeard. He was awake. His one good eye was open, staring at the ceiling, his breathing a low, rattling sound. He was a mountain, but a mountain that had been weathered by a terrible, final storm.

"Pops," Ace said, his voice soft as he knelt by the bedside.

Whitebeard's eye slowly shifted, focusing on his son. A low, rumbling sound vibrated from his chest, a weak imitation of his once-mighty laugh. "That was... a leader's command... I heard out there," he rasped, his voice thin and reedy.

"Just trying to keep our family safe, Pops," Ace replied, a lump forming in his throat.

"My time... is over, son," Whitebeard said, the words a blunt, undeniable truth. He looked at the empty space where his left arm should have been. "This... is a reminder. The era has my name... but it no longer has my strength." He looked from Ace to Marco, who stood silently at the foot of the bed. "This crew... needs a captain who can stand on the deck... not lie in a bed."

His gaze settled on Ace, his one good eye filled with a profound, fatherly pride. "The crown... is yours, Ace. Lead them. Be the king I always knew you could be."

The words, the offer of everything he had ever dreamed of, felt like a punch to the gut. "No," Ace said instantly, his voice cracking. "I won't. You are my captain. Always."

"He's right, Ace," Marco said, his voice quiet but firm. "We need a captain who can fight. We need a Captain who can lead us against Teach. Pops... his final order at the war was for us to live in the new era. This is how we do it. By letting you lead us."

Ace looked at his father, at the man who had given him everything, now offering him the last thing he had left—his throne. He looked at Marco, his brother, who was not asking, but begging him to take the burden. He saw the truth in their eyes. A captain in a bed was just a symbol. A king on the deck was a future.

With a heavy heart, he finally nodded. "Alright," he whispered, the word feel almost like a betrayal. "I'll do it."

Whitebeard let out a sigh of profound relief. "Good," he rasped. "My son... the new captain..."

"No," Ace said, his voice suddenly clear and strong, cutting through the somber atmosphere. Both Marco and Whitebeard looked at him, confused.

Ace stood up, his face set with a new, unshakeable resolve. "I will lead. I will protect this family with my life. But I will not be the new 'Whitebeard'."

He looked at his father, his eyes burning with a fierce, respectful fire. "That name, that legend, belongs to you, Pops. It is the name of the strongest man alive, the king who loved his sons more than the world itself. That legend dies with you, and you are not dead."

He took a deep breath, a new identity, a new future, forming in his mind. "We are not a relic of a bygone era. We have been forged anew in the fires of war. We are survivors. We are a family."

He looked at Marco, then back at the stunned face of his father, a slow, confident grin spreading across his face.

"From this day forward, we have a new name. We are the Burning Crown Pirates. And we will rise from the ashes of this war, and we will set this new era ablaze."
