Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: I Will Kill Kafka!

This scene looked far too much like when Kafka first appeared in the world. The soldiers all couldn't help swallowing nervously.

Even though they were all battle-hardened elite warriors, they still couldn't suppress the fear rising in their hearts, it was an instinctive terror of an unknown monster.

But this battle could not be avoided. They could not bear the consequences of defying Kafka's order.

"Open fire!"

Hearing the commander's shout, the soldiers who had been suffering in suspense could finally stop thinking.

They roared at the top of their lungs, pouring all the firepower in their hands at the little girl standing at the doorway.

"Come out, Desolate Skeleton."

Vera traced her fingers through the void. A boundary rift appeared, sucking in all the gunfire.

Then, one after another, skeleton soldiers bathed in black fire swarmed out of the rift.

Finally, a skull as large as a mountain poked its head through, the being known as the Desolate Skeleton.

There was no bloody melee, no passionate power-ups. The skeleton soldiers merely ran past the human soldiers, and the black flames quickly spread across their entire bodies. Before long, each one was reborn as a new skeleton soldier wreathed in fire.

Surprisingly, this evil-looking, terrifying skeleton army only killed the soldiers who had pulled their triggers. All the other soldiers, as well as every other plant and animal on the battlefield, remained completely unharmed.

"Return."

At Vera's command, the Desolate Skeleton opened its mouth in a silent roar. The skeleton army obeyed the summons and marched back in formation into the rift.

"Heh heh, heh heh heh…"

After the task was done, the Desolate Skeleton quickly rubbed its snow-white, jade-like skeletal hands together, producing a string of flattering chuckles.

"These are for you. As for the planes in the sky and those vehicles, keep them safe for me."

Vera pointed to the plastic bucket at her feet. Inside, besides the pig's discarded skin, intestines, flesh, and bones, there were also a few black snakes swimming happily.

"Mm! Mm-hmm!"

The Desolate Skeleton nodded again and again, hurriedly took the gifts, and then, like handling collectible figures, carefully carried the vehicles and planes into the rift as well.

Ten miles away, perched on a treetop, Kafka saw that the person on the screen could actually control rifts and rift monsters. Her heart felt no waves at all, in fact, she almost wanted to laugh.

After all, it was the daughter of that strange man and Acheron. If she were just some ordinary little brat, that would be strange!

With a silent sigh, Kafka quickly sketched out a simple plan for her retirement life in her heart, then decided to have Silver Wolf teleport her away from this sorrowful place.

"Take me to your place to rest first. We'll talk about the future later!"

"No… Kafka… rift interference… your coordinates…" Silver Wolf's panicked voice came through in broken fragments, then cut off completely.

"How did you find this planet?"

Standing under the tree, Vera curiously studied Kafka. By all logic, this planet shouldn't have any other strong beings.

"Shut up!"

Kafka shouted furiously, about to give up and throw caution to the wind. But suddenly, a familiar sensation surged up in her chest. She quickly summoned the power of Spirit Speech again and spoke,

"Sleep!"

Sure enough, her Spirit Speech had worked.

At the same time, in the Defense Division headquarters, Emiya was listening to Arthur's recounting of Kafka's glorious deeds when he suddenly felt his heart tighten. At once, the system's sharp alarm rang out,

[Warning! Detected that Vera's consciousness has been clouded! Detected that Acheron is no longer on Azure Planet!]

Ten-Star General Arthur was no fool, otherwise he wouldn't have been entrusted with such authority by the entire world.

The moment he saw Emiya's expression change drastically, he immediately ordered all the gates sealed.

This Defense Division base was built with the world's most advanced technology. Once the gates were shut, not even a hydrogen bomb exploding nearby could break through.

Arthur was confident that Emiya had no way to breach it at this moment.

"Mr. Emiya, please calm yourself. You are the only savior in this world who can resist Kafka. Please, don't go..."

"I'll only say this once. Tell me where you've taken Vera, or I'll kill every single one of you!"

Emiya forcibly cut off Arthur's rambling.

He wasn't an idiot. The situation was already obvious, this whole setup was orchestrated by Azure Planet's Unified Defense Division to lure him in, and their purpose went without saying.

"I've already told you, you are this world's only savior. Even if you kill us, we won't let you go throw your life away."

"I'm going to kill the enemy! How small does your underdeveloped brain have to be not to get that?!"

Emiya knew there was no way to reason with this bunch. He directly summoned the Sword of Promised Victory and sliced through Arthur's supposedly unbreakable wall like it was tofu.

Along with the wall, the long shadow Kafka had cast over his heart was also shattered.

A body immune to Spirit Speech control, paired with an indestructible holy sword, light pierced through the long night, and hope finally descended.

"Wah!"

The people of Azure Planet's Unified Defense Division couldn't help bursting into cheers. Their hollow eyes lit up again, tears of joy streaming down their faces.

Even the usually composed and dignified Ten-Star General Arthur was weeping uncontrollably with happiness.

So heaven truly had not abandoned them. The hero really had come, carrying the holy sword, to save the world.

"Ahh…"

Looking at these ordinary people cheering and rejoicing before him, Emiya let out a heavy sigh.

Unlike the world of Type-Moon, here strong beings were everywhere, and Aeons as common as stray dogs.

Ordinary humans were worth less than ants. They could almost never cross the gap of power, they could only pray that the gods would ignore them and not fight near them.

"Mr. Emiya, are you truly confident you can kill Kafka?"

As head of the Unified Defense Division, and as a representative of all Azure Planet, Ten-Star General Arthur solemnly asked.

"I will definitely kill her. And after that, we'll leave immediately. Your lives will surely return to normal again!"

Emiya clenched his fists tight. The Sword of Promised Victory seemed to sense his resolve, shining a dazzling light that shot straight into the sky.

"Thank you. On behalf of all humanity on Azure Planet, I thank you for extending your hand to us!"

Arthur removed his hat, dropped to both knees, and kowtowed heavily to Emiya before finally beginning to explain what they had learned.

According to their investigations, after Kafka attacked the village at the mountain's base, she disappeared. Nowhere on Azure Planet could she be found.

The Division speculated that she must have used that strange teleportation ability to return to her space warship in outer space.

That warship was docked on Yellow Star, eighty-two million kilometers from Azure Planet. The Defense Division planned to spend a month gathering every spaceship on the planet to form a suicide squad, escorting Emiya to Yellow Star and clearing out the small fry for him.

Emiya rejected the plan without even thinking. He refused to let Azure Planet's people throw their lives away in vain. And a month was far too long, there were too many variables. Vera could not wait that long.

After all, who could guarantee that the enemy would stay put and fight you to the end? With their bizarre teleportation, if they simply chose to run off with Vera, Emiya would have nowhere to even cry.

At this point, Emiya seemed to have only one path left, to burn through his accumulated magical energy and exchange for the God-Slaying Spear ahead of time.
