Chapter 24 - Resurrection

Silence.A silence so deep it felt cosmic—like the universe itself was holding its breath after the death of Earth. The battlefield lay still, a wasteland of fire and ruin. Smoke curled through the ruins of New York, Metropolis, and Themyscira alike, as though the worlds had bled into one broken reality.

And then… a sound.A heartbeat.

Beneath a mountain of shattered steel, Captain America's hand twitched. The star on his torn chestplate glimmered faintly in the gloom. "Not… yet," he whispered, voice raw. He pushed through the rubble, bones cracking, dragging himself up into the fading light. Around him, the dead wind carried whispers — faint, otherworldly.

Doctor Strange, his cloak burnt and his body broken, crawled toward a shattered sigil still glowing on the ground. He pressed his palm to it and closed his eyes. "The multiverse isn't done with us yet," he murmured. His voice echoed in strange harmonics — a resonance that wasn't entirely his own.

From the fragments of his spell, a portal flickered open, unstable and wild. A golden shimmer cut through the smoke — and from it stepped The Spectre, the embodiment of divine vengeance. His eyes blazed green fire."You've been given one last chance," the being thundered. "The balance of all creation teeters. Rise… or be erased forever."

One by one, the fallen began to stir. Thor, bloodied but breathing, his hammer sparking faintly. Wonder Woman, sword in hand, eyes blazing with renewed fury. Iron Man's armor, cracked and scorched, powered up again with a weak hum."Tony?" Cap called out.The mask lifted. Tony's voice came, tired but defiant. "Guess I overslept."

Above them, Strange's portal grew wider — and through it came help from beyond worlds:Ghost Rider's chain ignited in hellfire. Moon Knight emerged from the shadows. Constantine lit his cigarette at the edge of reality itself. And behind them, figures of myth and might — Zatanna, Raven, Doctor Fate, and others — stood ready.

Superman, his cape torn to shreds, hovered above them all. His eyes glowed not just with heat vision but with something new — hope reborn through pain. "Then this time," he said, voice steady, "we end this together."

The heroes, reborn through death, gathered in a circle once more — stronger, scarred, and unbreakable. The Resurrection had begun.

And far above, watching from the void, Thanos and Darkseid felt it — the shift in fate.

For the first time… they knew fear.
