Chapter 4 - 04. Tavern

Blinking twice, he found time had passed and the last goon was kneeling down again with the valuables on the clean sheets of those other three.

"Good evening sir!" The goon greeted him. "Here are all the clothes, weapons, and valuables of the others in this sheet, feel free to do what you want with them.

Raven took his time taking the necessary things on the ground, he looked at the last goon before him and asked:

"Where's the nearest restaurant and inn building here?"

He wanted to know where these places were, so he could decide which one he could buy food from the fastest.

The goon, hearing his words, was silent for a bit, but in the end only answered with what he knew..

----

Loots he took from the robbers:

[24 silver, 152 copper, 2 gold coins.] Placed in his money inventory space.

[Small dagger, bottles, wooden bat.] Into his weapon space.

[Ring of fire, Ring of water, Bandana, Pink mask.] Into his accessories space.

And finally, random items he got like toothpicks, needles, corks, poison bottles, some weird white liquid that smells like a woman, candles, shiny round rocks, and a naked portrait of a woman.

Looking at his inventory space, Raven couldn't help but smile, turning back to the last goon, he said to him:

"Get out of here and don't come back with these three again."

Gesturing to him to run away from there, the man did not hesitate to take on his words and began running away from that place. With all the clothes of the other three in his hands.

Raven, watching the man run away, thought to himself. 'Still, it's weird I can understand and talk in this world language for some reason.'

'Not only that but somehow I know how the currency works too…' Making him ask more questions about what's happening to him.

Ignoring everything on his mind, he quickly left the place and went to the inn the goon had told him about before.

On his way out, two figures within the shadows were watching the entire time, from the moment he entered the alley, from the fight, and till he left this place.

One of the figures said:

"Such an interesting man… he also looks cute to me, not handsome enough, but good enough."

…?

"What do you mean by that, Madam?" another figure asked, seeing the man (Raven) as the ugliest person she had seen in her life.

"...Hmm. Right, you can't see the things I can." The figure puffed out smoke from her pipe.

"To me, I'll give his looks an 8/10." The figure called Madam said with a smile.

Summoning a panel before her, she smiled at the status window of Raven.

"To think I found another one of you in this era.." Her gaze shifted away from the panel to Raven figure leaving the alley.

"Still. The experience requirement of his is quite high." Madam said thinking about the actual amount of experience points.

Walking toward the south where the nearest inn is, Raven found himself catching the gaze of everyone.

From women who wear revealing clothes, people armed with blade weapons, homeless kids, and even some non-human figures too.

"It's that (effect) right…" he murmured, ignoring all those who looked and judged him.

He couldn't care less about their opinion about him, as long as they don't attack him or try to rob him, he can tolerate them.

'That guy said the nearest inn here is about ten minutes walk… so far I did the three minutes of it, still a long time there.'

Carefully rubbing his stomach, he thought of the attack he received from Shining Head before.

"I really didn't take any damage or feel any pain from it. The ability actually works great."

As he was about to leave the red light road where the prostitutes are, he felt someone touching his shoulder.

Turning around, he found a beast person, who looked like a minotaur, with a cow-like head, giant horns, and body covered in brown hair.

"Kid, are you alright?" The beast person asked, looking up and down at Raven's situation.

He was dirty, his clothes were covered in mud along with his hair, his hand was covered with scratches, and there was a stench of sewage water coming out of him.

Although the beast person knew it was not his responsibility to do something about the young adult human before him, he couldn't help but reach out to him.

"Poor soul, even criminal gladiators are treated better than this." The beast person murmured right in front of Raven's face.

Raven, wanting to escape from his grasp and run away from him, couldn't move at all; the grip of the beast person before him was too strong for him to do anything.

And hearing his words about himself, Raven quickly said; "Yes, I'm alright. I just got into a fight, forcing me to use the dirty water as a weapon."

Groaning in pain and pushing the beast person's hand from his shoulder; "So can you please let me go now! It's starting to hurt." He said, tears forming in his eyes.

"Ah! Sorry." The beast person said, let go of Raven's shoulder.

"I was worried about seeing someone like you near this place. Especially with that kind of lo—."

The beast person couldn't finish his words, trying his best not to offend Raven about his looks.

Seeing him walking away from him, he sighed and quietly whispered to himself, while pointing at Raven's back:

"[Cleanse], [Zero odor], and [Heal]." Three marbles flew out from his finger and were absorbed into Raven's body.

…!

Raven felt an energy coursing through his body. Turning around, he found the person he was talking to had disappeared within the crowd.

Looking at himself, Raven's clothes were back to their original version before the fight, seeing this he realized something.

"Did I stink that much?" Questioning himself. 'Maybe because I was so used to the smell of my own urine and shit in that place.'

Raven stood still for a bit, blinking multiple times before sighing; "For now, I'm gonna eat till my stomach force out the food inside me, and sleep in an actual bed."

He said running towards that inn/tavern he was told about…

---

Sitting on the corner of the inn, Raven quietly waited for his food to arrive at his table.

Just a minute ago, he had ordered one of everything in the options he was given, without wasting any seconds.

He then paid the bill and gave the waitress a good tip. When he gave the waitress the tip, he felt like he had never done it before, as if it wasn't something he used to do or in his country did at all.

Nonetheless, he couldn't help but give her since the waitress did not hesitate to come forward to him and greet him nicely.

Unlike the other four waitresses who were fighting to not serve him.

"This place is so rowdy." He murmured, looking around the tavern and hearing all kinds of stories, people telling to their companion and friends.

"That goblin maniac took all the goblin quests this morning again."

"That asshole, what will the newbies take then? Does he not think about them at all?"

"I'm gonna be a father!"

"You haven't been home for 13 months."

"A Fire salamander capturing quest? Why would you take that!"

"It's worth 4 gold and over a hundred silver coins."

"So any news about that lady in the flower shop you were talking about before?"

"We talk about something else instead of flowers."

Hearing all of this around him, he felt like he could get used to this kind of life from now on.
