Kyle easily spotted his name on a doorplate.
He pushed the door open and stepped inside. The first thing he saw was the floor, covered with a gold and crimson carpet, and a large bed with four poster pillars draped with deep red flannel curtains.
In the middle of the room was a small wooden table, on which sat a golden birdcage. Inside, a raven was standing quietly, preening its feathers.
Three soft armchairs surrounded the wooden table, identical in style to those in the common room outside.
A large desk was placed against the right-hand wall, with parchment, quills, and ink bottles neatly arranged on the clean, solid wood surface.
All the textbooks he had bought in Diagon Alley this morning were neatly arranged on a shelf above the desk.
On the other side of the room, flames flickered in the fireplace, providing a constant source of warmth.
"This is... a single room!"
"Professor Dumbledore is being so nice to you! We're all stuck in five-person dorms!"
"You have no idea how unbearable George's snoring is at night."
"Bullshit! It's not like you don't snore!"
The prankster twins were at it again, bickering.
Kyle noticed a tan suitcase on the bedside table, with a piece of parchment attached. A line of beautiful cursive writing was on it.
"I think you'll like what's inside the suitcase."
It was undoubtedly Professor Dumbledore's handwriting.
The suitcase was opened, and a long staircase appeared before Kyle. He had a guess as to what was inside.
Kyle placed the suitcase on the ground and stepped inside.
Watching Kyle disappear into the suitcase, the two of them exclaimed in amazement, "Cool!"
At the end of the staircase, a brand new 1987 Buick GNX was parked, along with the iron gate that was as familiar as could be, confirming Kyle's guess.
This was his base, his Bag End!
Wait a minute!
Dumbledore had moved his base here. How was he going to get the car out?
"Cool! Kyle! Is that a car?"
Before Kyle could answer, Fred continued, "My dad has been secretly saving money lately, hiding it from Mom, to secretly buy a Muggle's used car. I didn't expect to see a car here too!"
"I remember he said something about using a flying broom's flight system to modify a car," George mused, stroking his chin.
Buying a used car and modifying it with magic? What used car?! What a waste!
Kyle thought for a moment and offered a suggestion, "I remember there's a tank graveyard in Northern England, in the Otterburn Ranges of Northumberland National Park."
A tank graveyard? What's that?
George and Fred exchanged a look, seeing a huge question mark in each other's eyes.
"Tanks are a type of vehicle used by Muggle armies… uh, you could think of them as the military version of a car. You can find a lot of tank shells there.
Your father only needs to buy an engine to put in it, and it'll run. Oh, the engine is to a car what the flight system is to a flying broom. It's much cheaper than buying a whole used Muggle car."
Kyle saw that the two of them were still staring at his car, so he waved them over, "Let's not talk about that anymore. Come on in and sit down. My place is pretty big, and we can play video games. If you get tired, you can just sleep over."
He then opened the iron gate and walked inside.
Following him into the living room, Fred and George were instantly stunned when they saw the pile of Muggle appliances in Kyle's living room.
"My dad would go crazy if he saw all these Muggle things here!"
"He loves Muggle stuff the most."
Watching the two of them act like they'd never seen anything like it, Kyle felt a small sense of satisfaction.
He grabbed two cans of beer from the refrigerator in the kitchen and tossed them to the two of them: "Welcome to the Muggle world."
Half an hour later.
"Magnificent! Absolutely magnificent!" George, drunk, was half-lying on the sofa, flailing his arms.
A pile of empty cans lay scattered at his feet, indicating he'd drunk quite a bit.
Kyle, pointing at George who was acting drunk, laughed, "Look at George, he's already drunk after only a few cans, that's so lame."
"George is such a loser!" Fred agreed.
"You think so? You're pretty brave, huh?"
"Are you kidding? I'm super brave, okay? And I can drink like a champ!"
Hearing Fred's words, Kyle slapped his thigh. "Drink like a champ, huh? Brave!"
Kyle suddenly remembered something and stood up, saying to Fred, "I've got some cool stuff in my room. Wanna check it out?"
"Cool stuff? What is it, Kyle? Like Wizard Chess or something?"
"More exciting than Wizard Chess. You'll see when you get there."
Fred struggled to his feet and followed Kyle into his room in Bag End.
He saw a red and white muggle machine sitting on the bedside table, connected to a strange, square box.
On the other side of the room were two large cabinet-style machines, he didn't know what they were for.
Kyle sat down on the edge of the bed, picked up a cartridge, and inserted it into the Famicom, beckoning Fred over to play.
"This is a muggle game console," Kyle said, shoving another controller into Fred's hand. "I'll teach you how to play."
He had bought these things in New York, but at the time, he was alone and had no one to play with. So he'd only played it once after buying the console.
Before that, the last time he had played a machine this old was when he was a child in his previous life, playing with his cousins on a Subor learning computer.
Fred's aptitude for games was quite good, it had to be said.
Kyle simply taught them the basic controls, and before long, the two of them were playing Contra at a decent level, despite its considerable difficulty.
After clearing Contra, the two of them began their quest to beat games like Super Mario.
There were also two arcade machines on the other side of the room.
One was installed with the fighting game Street Fighter, and the other was installed with Hang-On, the world's first simulation driving game.
They were having a blast playing as well.
Time passed by without them noticing, and after playing games for two hours, Kyle was getting a little bored.
After all, these were products from the eighties and nineties, and didn't have the high level of playability of later games like GTA V.
But Fred was enjoying himself immensely.
Kyle put down the controller, tilted his head, and looked at Fred, "Want to see my collection?"
"Is there anything more fun than games?"
Fred's eyes lit up.
Watching Fred transform into a hardcore internet addict in just two hours, Kyle was really worried that this guy would get ruined by gaming.
He didn't know if Hogwarts had a professor with the last name Yang. If someone got addicted, there would be no cure.
Actually, Kyle's worries were completely unnecessary. Electronic gadgets couldn't be used at Hogwarts.
The magnetic field generated by the wizards' bodies, which could be said to be a force field formed by the dispersing magic, would interfere with electronic products, causing them to fail.
A single wizard might not affect electronic products, but in a place like Hogwarts, where a large number of wizards gathered, electronic products would definitely fail.
As for why Bag End wasn't affected, perhaps it was because it was too deep underground.
