Kyle's morning workout was delayed due to his encounter with Hagrid.
When he emerged from the Forbidden Forest, the sun had fully risen, and sunlight streamed through the gaps in the clouds, gilding the entire Hogwarts castle with a pale gold.
After completing one hundred squats, Kyle abandoned his plan to run ten kilometers and decided to return to the castle for breakfast.
Having learned from yesterday, Kyle didn't intend to eat the Western-style breakfast in the Great Hall, which he wasn't used to. Instead, he expertly made his way to a wide stone corridor in the castle's basement.
Torches illuminated the surroundings brightly, decorated with pleasant paintings, primarily depicting food.
Kyle stopped in front of a painting of a giant silver bowl overflowing with fruit and gently scratched a large, green pear with his index finger.
The pear wriggled, giggling, and suddenly transformed into a large, green doorknob.
The kitchen, a place Kyle always enjoyed, lay beyond the door.
To Kyle's surprise, a student was in the kitchen in addition to the friendly house-elves.
The student, caught sneaking a snack, smiled shyly at Kyle and explained, "Well, today's the day for owl post, and the owls will make a mess of breakfast in the Great Hall..."
Kyle understood why the student was here and extended a friendly hand. "Hello, I'm Kyle Dumbledore."
"Dumbledore?" The other person widened his eyes in surprise and, after a moment of stunned silence, grasped Kyle's hand. "I'm Cedric Diggory, from Hufflepuff."
Kyle then took a moment to examine the other person's appearance.
Cedric was tall and handsome, with black hair and bright gray eyes.
Because it was their first meeting, the atmosphere in the kitchen was a little awkward.
Kyle didn't continue chatting with Cedric. Instead, he called over the house-elves and expertly began directing them to prepare breakfast according to his instructions.
"Cut the Char Siu Pork into small pieces, mince the green onions and ginger, and mix them with soy sauce and salt to make the filling!"
"Yes, sir! Respected Mr. Dumbledore!" A house-elf pointed a finger at the kitchen utensils in front of them, and the knives and other tools immediately began processing the ingredients according to Kyle's instructions.
"Chop the raw shrimp with a knife, then use the back of the knife to make a shrimp paste, add bamboo shoots, fatty pork, celery, shrimp pieces, and ginger together and stir well; we're making Har Gow!"
"Yes, sir!"
Because of Kyle, the kitchen was exceptionally lively.
Cedric watched everything before him with curiosity, and the aroma wafting out of the kitchen immediately made his jam bread seem less appealing.
Before long, a variety of dishes were successively brought to the kitchen table.
Kyle looked at the Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings), Cheung Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls), Steamed Spareribs, Boat Congee, Char Siu Bao (Barbecue Pork Buns), and other dim sum that he was intimately familiar with, and his mood brightened considerably.
It had been a long time since he had last eaten Cantonese dim sum; it had been ten years since he'd transmigrated.
Well, you say there are Cantonese tea houses in Chinatown, New York?
Sorry, but Kyle had eaten Chinese food there before, and he didn't think it was authentic at all, it didn't have the taste of home.
"Come and eat with me." Kyle pushed a plate of dim sum towards Cedric.
As a gluttonous little Hufflepuff badger, Cedric had been waiting for Kyle to say those words.
"Hmm, I'm curious, where did you learn to cook these things?" After swallowing a Har Gow, Cedric asked the question that was on his mind.
"I taught myself," Kyle blew on the hot tea in his cup and slowly began, "You might not believe it, but I was found by Professor Dumbledore when I was a street urchin, and then I was brought here."
Cedric didn't expect to hear such an answer and looked at Kyle with some guilt, as if he felt he had asked a very presumptuous question.
Kyle waved his hand dismissively. "Actually, life on the streets isn't as tough as you might think. It's actually pretty interesting."
Of course, that comfortable life was built on the selfless contributions of the street gangs of New York.
If a six-year-old without any special abilities had been wandering around, just not starving to death would have been a good outcome.
"Really?" Cedric looked bewildered. He didn't really believe Kyle, but the joyful smile on Kyle's face didn't seem like someone who had suffered a lot.
Seeing Cedric's expression, Kyle shrugged. "You'll see when you've seen the secret hideout I built during my time on the streets."
Hearing Kyle say this, Cedric suddenly became interested. "I'm really looking forward to visiting your hideout."
A child from the Dumbledore family, with a distinguished background, should have lived a rich and carefree life, but why had he fallen into the streets?
Cedric was really curious about Kyle's bizarre experience.
However, investigating the truth behind the matter could wait. Now, he had to say goodbye to Kyle because his first class of the morning was about to begin.
The two parted ways at the kitchen door, with Cedric turning down a corridor towards the Potions classroom.
Kyle, on the other hand, planned to go to the eighth floor of the castle to report to Dumbledore about the gamekeeper he'd appointed, who was secretly raising forbidden magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest.
But before he could even reach the grand staircase outside the Great Hall on the first floor, Kyle ran into the person he was looking for.
"Are you enjoying your time at Hogwarts?" Dumbledore asked with a gentle smile.
"Coming to Hogwarts is like coming home. Everyone here is talented, and they all speak so nicely. I love it here!"
Hearing Kyle's response, Dumbledore felt like something wasn't quite right.
Then he remembered something else, and his eyes, peering over his half-moon spectacles, scrutinized Kyle:
"Professor McGonagall told me this morning that a student fell from a tower. But when we got to the lawn beneath her office window, there was nothing there."
Kyle was stunned. Could it be that he was seen climbing the wall by Professor McGonagall?
Dumbledore's eyes glimmered with a pale blue light. For some reason, Kyle felt as though all his secrets were laid bare before those eyes.
Kyle didn't know if wizards had some sort of mind-reading method, but even if they did, he still had to deny it.
"Is the student who fell alright?"
"Judging by his current state, he should be fine." Dumbledore stared at Kyle without blinking as he said this.
"That's good," Kyle said calmly, chatting with Dumbledore.
Then Kyle remembered what Hagrid had asked him to do. "Oh, right, Professor, I have something to tell you."
"What is it? Go ahead."
Kyle tugged on Dumbledore's sleeve, signaling him to lean down. "Hagrid is raising a Three-Headed Dog!"
Dumbledore straightened up, raising an eyebrow. "A Three-Headed Dog? How big is it?"
"Uh, about as tall as Hagrid."
