Dane leaned closer to him and whispered:
"Bruce, have you ever considered that from the first day you put on the Batsuit to fight crime, you were already a criminal!"
"Did the law give you the power to arrest them? Did it give you the power to abuse vigilante justice?"
"You hide in the Batcave every day, using surveillance to spy on the privacy of the entire city. Who gave you that power?"
He said sharply, "You dragged good kids like Barbara, Dick, and Jason into this. Did you protect them?"
"No! You allowed lunatics like the Joker to torment and kill them."
"This is all your fault!"
Bruce's eyes were vacant, as if he hadn't heard a word.
Dane stood up, looking down at him:
"You shouldn't be like this. It's precisely because official forces cannot punish insane criminals like the Joker, Riddler, and Scarecrow that you decided to step forward, wasn't it?"
"Since you've already done this, since you've already become Gotham's 'Dark Knight,' why not go all the way?"
"Remember what I just said? Gotham has been a bit too quiet lately."
Dane's words seemed to startle him. Bruce suddenly looked up, glaring at him: "What do you mean by that?"
"Don't look at me like that, as if I have some ill intentions."
"I ask you, given your understanding of your 'old friends,' is it normal for things to be so quiet during this time?"
No sooner had Dane finished speaking than, as if on cue, Bruce's wristband sounded an alarm.
This was sent from the supercomputer in the Batcave.
Typically, when this sounded, it meant someone was making big news in Gotham again.
Bruce ignored the three and walked directly to his room.
Dane didn't stand on ceremony either, leading Clark and Diana to follow him.
Bruce saw them following but still ignored them.
He pressed a certain wall in the room; palm print recognition, a secret room opened, and inside was an elevator.
Dane, making himself at home, stepped in. Clark and Diana exchanged glances, curious, and followed.
Bruce still didn't react. The elevator carried the four people deep underground, finally stopping in a pitch-black cave.
As soon as Bruce stepped onto the platform, lights illuminated the surroundings, brightening the gloomy cave.
This was the Batcave, Batman's secret Base.
Clark and Diana curiously observed the furnishings and architecture, especially focusing on the tech products whose technological level was clearly much higher than what was available on the market.
Bruce sat in the chair in the main control room, opened the computer, and an intercepted news report was displayed on the large screen.
The screen showed a bust of a man wearing a hooded cloak and a ragged burlap sack-like mask over his face, with something resembling a respirator covering his mouth.
He was Scarecrow.
This was a live broadcast from five minutes ago. In the bottom left corner of the live broadcast screen, there was a smaller screen playing a massacre that had occurred in a restaurant.
In the small screen, a Police officer was shooting at surrounding citizens like a madman.
And the citizens were also killing each other; they seemed to be controlled by some kind of illusion.
Scarecrow was seen on the large screen saying:
"This demonstration only used five ounces of my new gas. Tomorrow, this demonstration will look like child's play."
"Residents of Gotham, you will only get this one warning..."
