Clark looked at the restaurant in the news and felt like he had seen it somewhere before.
It wasn't until he saw the Police officer arrested for intentional murder that he suddenly remembered: that was Officer Owens.
And that restaurant was "Pauli's Diner," where he had first eaten when he arrived in Gotham a year ago.
That was also the first place Clark met Jason Todd.
Scarecrow's words quickly caused panic in Gotham City. Ten minutes later, terrified citizens gathered at the entrance of the Gotham Police Department.
They sternly demanded that the Police severely punish the culprit.
But I'm not boasting, the Gotham Police Department doesn't have that capability.
Inside, apart from Commissioner Gordon and his faction who could do something, everyone else couldn't even play a supporting role.
Even Commissioner Gordon couldn't figure out how many of his subordinates were moles planted by gangs.
This had left him overwhelmed recently, his hairline visibly receding.
But there was no progress whatsoever in the operation to apprehend Scarecrow.
In the darkness of Gotham City, it was as if an invisible hand was obstructing the Police and escorting Scarecrow.
As 24 hours were about to pass, the Police had made no progress, and many citizens began to flee together.
Those who were generally good people could no longer stand this insane city and fled Gotham with their families.
But the villains, rotten to the core, regarded this place as paradise; they began to revel.
They smashed, looted, and robbed wantonly in the city; no one feared Batman would appear, because that Batman had not been active for a long time.
He must be dead! The villains committed atrocities in the city, harboring such a lucky.
Yesterday, Gotham City still had 6.3 million people.
But today, there weren't that many... The only ones left on the streets were those who profited from the riots.
Criminals, scum, and even worse, not enough good people remained to stop them.
In these 24 hours, the three members of the Justice League witnessed the city's degradation.
From peaceful times to a living hell, Gotham only took 24 hours.
"I never thought the collapse of order would be so rapid," Clark exclaimed in shock.
"Even I have rarely seen such a rotten situation. Does this city really need to be saved?"
Wonder Woman, strictly speaking, had seen worse situations than this. The Wishing Stone of the God of Lies had also caused huge trouble worldwide back then.
But that was because a divine black hand was stirring up trouble behind the scenes. This was the first time she had seen a disaster caused purely by individuals.
They all turned their gaze to Bruce Wayne, the Dark Knight of Gotham.
Actually, after Scarecrow released the threatening live broadcast, Clark suggested that the three of them apprehend the criminals, but Bruce refused.
This man's suspicion of strangers was deeply ingrained, especially his apprehension about Dane's philosophy.
He was afraid that if the three helped, Dane would directly kill the criminals.
Bruce had not given up on his "procedural justice."
Perhaps sensing Bruce's determination, Dane did not interfere in this matter.
But he chose to observe, to prevent the situation from spiraling completely out of control if Batman couldn't handle it.
The Justice League is now implicitly led by Dane, so Clark and Wonder Woman did not object to his decision.
Dane had told Bruce that if he couldn't solve this problem before Scarecrow deployed the new gas on a large scale.
Then the three of them would directly intervene. They couldn't just sit back and watch this city turn into a ghost town, could they?
So, in these 24 hours, not only the Police but also Bruce was tracking Scarecrow's whereabouts.
Soon, with the help of "Oracle," he found clues to Scarecrow's activities.
"Oracle" is Barbara Gordon, the former Batgirl, and she is also Commissioner Gordon's daughter.
Since she was shot by Joker a few years ago, resulting in paralysis of her lower body, she has been providing technical support to Batman as "Oracle."
Commissioner Gordon never knew about this. He still thought Barbara's paralysis was retaliation from criminals targeting him, and he had always felt deeply guilty about it.
"Bruce, Dad just called and told me to leave Gotham..."
Bruce's busy movements suddenly stopped. He didn't know what he should say.
If possible, Barbara should not have put herself in danger, especially with her physical condition already like this.
But before he could say anything, Barbara continued:
"I promised him, but I won't leave. Gotham still needs me, and you... need my help too."
After speaking, Barbara ended the communication, leaving Bruce to continue preparing in silence.
Dane watched all this with a cold eye, and Clark and Diana seemed to be moved.
Just then, Alfred brought three cups of hot coffee to them.
"Coffee?"
"Thank you, Alfred," Dane nodded in thanks.
Alfred had rushed back to the manor shortly after Scarecrow's live broadcast.
Because he knew that at such times, even Bruce, who had been decadent for a long time, would force himself to stand up and continue fighting.
It was then that he met the three of them, including Dane.
Alfred was not as wary as Bruce. When he learned of the three's intentions, he welcomed them warmly.
It must be said that Alfred is truly a gentleman, and being with him is much more pleasant than being with Bruce.
"What would you like for dinner tonight?"
Diana was about to politely refuse when she heard Dane's voice from beside her.
"Meat, lots of meat, more meat, any kind of meat is fine."
Diana secretly rolled her beautiful eyes, and then no longer stood on ceremony: "Just something simple will do, no need to go to too much trouble."
Clark also casually ordered a dish. He actually wanted a cheeseburger, but would ordering that be a bit unsophisticated?
Alfred smiled, took note, and then went to prepare.
"Alfred is really a good butler. Why do you think he followed Bruce Wayne?"
"Why don't we poach him to the Justice League?"
Dane suggested mischievously with emotion.
Suddenly, he felt a chill down his spine. He looked back and saw that Batman was giving him the "Death Stare."
Don't tell me, after putting on that suit, he's quite intimidating.
"Are you going out?" Dane nonchalantly changed the subject.
Batman stared at him for a long while before shifting his gaze: "Someone is calling me."
Dane followed his gaze out the window and saw a huge Bat-shadow, hanging high in the clouds.
The Bat-Signal, Commissioner Gordon's Batman summoning device.
"Well, good luck to you. We'll be here cheering you on."
With that, Dane lay on the sofa like he was at home, scrolling on his phone, no longer paying him any attention.
Batman's eyelid twitched. He felt that ever since he met this guy, his prestige had been plummeting.
He took a deep breath, ignored them, and returned directly to the secret room to go to the Batcave Base.
Diana said with a laugh, "Why do you always annoy him?"
"No, I respect him very much!" Dane vehemently denied.
Diana couldn't do anything about him, so she walked into the study, intending to find a book to pass the time.
Clark sat in front of Dane, asking doubtfully, "Are we really not going to do anything?"
"Yes, during the agreed period, we can't do anything, but..."
Dane deliberately kept him in suspense, and Clark immediately fell for it.
"But what?"
"We're not Gothamites, so Batman doesn't trust us, but we can let Gothamites participate!"
"Now he has nothing to say, right?"
"Who?"
Clark hadn't reacted yet. Dane suspected his super brain might have had a stroke, as this needed to be explicitly stated.
He turned his phone screen to Clark, showing "Feixun," another social software product from Vanguard Technology.
But these weren't the most important things. What was important was the avatar on it, which was Jason's.
"He's learned a lot and is coming back soon."
"I told him about the situation in Gotham. You know this kid; he decided to return to Gotham to give the criminals here a profound lesson."
Clark was relieved; he still had faith in Jason.
But he clearly relaxed too early. Jason learned killing techniques in the League of Assassins, not law!
Dane didn't remind him, just continued typing on Feixun:
"Come back quickly. I've prepared all your equipment. I'm just waiting for you to come back and kill everyone!"
The other side quickly replied:
"Mr. Dane, could you please prepare an extra set of equipment? I brought an additional person back this time?"
Oh, he even brought a Master Brother back to help? Pretty good!
He casually asked, "Who is it? Send me his height, measurements, and three-dimensional data."
"His body data is XXX, and his name is Damian. He's Bruce's son!"
