Chapter 4 - CHAPTER:4 AFTER-SCHOOL LIFE

Kavya's POV:

It's 3 o'clock, I must hurry, otherwise I will be late. I touched my stomach. "Pain is not that much, maybe I will make up for it by cycling to the shop.

I quickly washed my face, put on comfortable outing clothes, took a bag with a few notebooks, gently patted my dog "Bruno", and hurried to get out with an apple.

It's been almost eight months since I have been working at that library as a part-time worker. I literally love the environment there, and most importantly, it is the nearest working place to my home.

That place is run by a couple who were very close friends of my mother and also perfectly aware of my situation. They tried to offer help, but I don't want to be a burden on anyone. As they know, I shared my mother's trait they never forced me to leave my principles.

I work from 4 pm to 8 pm, which is the busiest time. I get 2 weekends' leave with a 5K Rs per month salary.

Enough for a single person with a pet to maintain good survival. Moreover, as a scholarship student, I receive study supplies from the school. It's well manageable.

By the way, I have 20k in my account as backup, which is purely my savings. I am also working on the transfer of money from my mother's account to mine so it could be in my range during any emergency.

I never realised that I reached the destination, which always happens to me. I usually get deep into my thoughts.

I parked the cycle and went into the shop

Your Study Hub

"Good evening, Aunt", I got in, almost out of breath.

"Good evening, Kavya," she said, looking at me worryingly. "I have told you a lot of times that you shouldn't drive cycle fast !!" she continued, " what if you get into an accident? What do you think I am going to punish you for being late?" she said while handing over a glass of water to me.

I took a sip and smiled. I quickly put my bag down, under the counter, put on an apron, and began dusting the tables and then arranging the books.

Honestly, I love the infrastructure here.

This place is divided beautifully into two sections, one for the library for group studies, and another section where customers can purchase books.

This place is best because I get time to do my homework once I'm done with all my work. Also, there are so many books; for me, this job is a treasure that I never want to lose.

Soon, the customer began entering.

"Good evening", I greeted them.

I began helping them select books matching their reading style.

Genuinely, this work has killed half of the introvert within me. Although I don't like to talk much, it's fine as long as I have a way to save my dignity.
