Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: "GINGER"

Chapter 6: "GINGER"

River immediately hugged back when she felt Lettie almost breaking the hug.

"I'm very happy, River. I'm very happy. Finally, I got you," she said with tears in her eyes, still hugging her.

"Okay, have this," Lettie said, breaking the hug. She went for her bag that she placed on the table earlier and took out the translator. Lettie stood in front of River and asked her to take it.

"Lettie, we can be friends, but this is too much. I can't have it," River said, refusing to take it. "No, River, this is specially made for you. I brought it out today to give it to you. I don't know if you realize, but after I brought it out, I didn't use it. I actually don't really need a translator. I do understand the languages taught!" "So my dear, trust me, it's yours. I asked my brother to make two for me, one for me personally and one for my future best friend. I'm sure you're aware there are only five in this world." River nodded at the realization, but this was too much - her brother being able to get this meant the girl beside her wasn't small.

"Please, Lettie urged her. She was deeply happy knowing it was specially for her. "Have it," River's hands trembled as she took the translator.

She turned back and realized there was a deep inscription, GINGER. "How did you...?" River asked, shocked, referring to the name GINGER. "I know that's your name." After she found out River was Ginger when she mistakenly left her dairy in the language class a time ago, she was really surprised. She doubted it at first, but seeing how she was good in the computer course, she didn't doubt it again. She observed her and then followed her, and she became certain she was Ginger. It made her itch more to befriend this amazing girl.

"But no one is aware, so how did you find out?" River said nervously. "I happen to find out, I promise you. I didn't tell anyone or even my Pifty." "Pifty?" River asked, not getting her. "Oh, sorry, that's my cat. I share all my secrets with it," Lettie explained. River laughed at the explanation. "But please, once I take this, promise me you won't expose my identity," River said seriously to Lettie.

A lot of people have been searching for GINGER. The bad guys want to destroy her or either use her for their bad deeds, and the good ones want to recruit her. She was not ready to be owned by anyone except her dream place. Lettie also aware promised her. "It's a secret with me."

"But I don't have anything to give you in return," River said disappointedly. "You can give me that," Lettie said, pointing at the silver ring on her finger. "This, it's not even up to 1000 dollars. It's nothing. I will get you something else." "No, I want this," Lettie was firm. "Fine," River gave up and removed the ring from her finger, placed it on the already stretched finger. "To us," Lettie said, raising her fingers up high.

They hugged each other again, each with beaming smiles on their faces. When they finally pulled back, Lettie's face was flushed, but her eyes sparkled with happiness. "I'm so glad you said yes," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. River smiled, feeling a warmth in her chest. "I'm glad I did too," she replied, her voice softening. As they stood there, the tension between them dissipated, replaced by a sense of connection. Lettie took River's hand, her fingers intertwining with hers. "Let's get out of here," she said, her eyes gleaming.
