The mountains of Nepal are said to be ruthless and unforgiving to most, but life-changing to others. Manaslu, also known as the "Mountain of the Spirit, " standing at 8,163 meters, has been a place of joy and fear for many.
"Can you see the beautiful sunrise?"
At the overhang of the mountain, a voice calmly asked. A man in his early thirties was sitting calmly on the edge of the overhang, covered in snow.
His eyes were gazing over the horizon, looking at the sunrise, but he looked tired.
He was holding a black Japanese katana with a charm attached to its sheath. The charm was a bunny, which appeared to be very off-putting on a black katana that reeked of death .
He sighed while wiping the blood splattered above his eyebrows and asked ,
"It's still dark even after looking at the sun!"
A muffled sound came:
" Ugh -ugh!"
It was unclear as someone was trying to speak but couldn't.
Behind Spade (the person with the katana), there was a person wearing mountain gear sitting on his knees. Blood was all over the snow , looking like a dark-red blanket under him, which came from his amputated arms.
He was not able to speak due to his tongue being cut off. Spade irritably looked back.
He stood up as the snow above his head brushed off, revealing his long brown hair tied in a man bun with some hair falling over his face from the sides, touching his slightly brown beard.
"What a pain in the ass!"
He said, as the sun's rays fell on the mountain ridge. His eyes could be seen covered with piercing scars , as if both had been wounded by a knife. He was blind, but it seemed to be a wound many years old.
The left eye scar dragged to his lips more than the other one. The scars made his dusky skin stand out more. His big, monstrous back with his rigid posture covered the mountains and sunrise behind him. His tall 6'2" stature looked down on the guy sitting helplessly in front of him, scared. Spade said in a deep, natural voice ,
"You shouldn't have killed those girls."
A voice came :
" Ugh -ugh!"
Spade, in anger, leaned onto him and whispered ,
"One of the girls whom you raped was my niece . She loved mountains. She felt safe and happy here, but you couldn't let her live."
He angrily added ,
"Scums like you make this mountain rot. You spoiled those girls and killed them in this mountain and got off every single time. Well, let me just help you reach the place where you sent those innocent girls."
Spade unsheathes his sword as the other person cries for forgiveness. Unable to join his hands or say anything, he just looks at Spade's sword and sees the grim reaper standing in front of him. The mountaineer, in fear of hands strong enough to punch a hole through his head , pees on the snow.
Without any mercy, a slash sounds echoes through the mountain as sun rays fall on the snowy peaks . As the snow gleams , a narrow blood stream flows through it.
Spade picks the guy's head, unzips his pants, and relieves himself on him. He zips it back again and kicks the head and body down the overhang. Washing his hands with the blood of the criminal, which was the same color as the crimson red suit worn by him, he gasped and pulled a cigarette from his pocket;
"Damn, I wish I could see his dying face!"
The cigarette was drenched in water due to the snow. It made Spade even more sad as he crushed the drenched cigarette .
"Well, looks like I can't see the beautiful sunrise, nor this guy pleading for mercy; and on top of that , not have a nice mountain smoke."
He sighed and spoke to the mountain peaks ahead of him:
"Well, you know what-"
A small pause as he speaks again:
"I don't feel alive anymore doing this hunt. I wish I had the same happiness and fun as I had climbing these mountains. Well , if I had to-"
He paused slightly, got to the edge of the overhang, and shouted:
"-I can end all my suffering here!"
There appeared to be silence in the mountains for one minute.
After some suspenseful pause, Spade bit his lips softly as he controlled his emotions and thought to himself :
"I wish I had you beside me right now, Robin. I wish I was able to SEE you right now!"
Spade leaned forward as the snow was pushed back from his feet at the edge, and he dropped from the 6,000-meter height. He smiled and shouted with his katana in his hand ,
"I would happily die on the very mountains I loved."
Suddenly, the sky lit bright as he was falling ; a circular beam of light dropped from the sky, piercing the clouds above and engulfing Spade as he was reaching the ground.
The beam touched the mountain and illuminated the whole sky. Some moments passed, and the sky was cleared of white clouds again, with no sign of any human body at the bottom of the mountain.
"Hey, where am I ?" a voice says in a muffled sound.
"I was just running from the police?" Another voice , a little bit clearer than the previous one.
Another voice speaks to another person in a surprised manner.
"Why am I at a stadium?"
A girl's voice, which sounds clear and close, says ,
"Hey, I was reaching climax just now! Who the hell teleported me? And where the hell are my bottoms?"
Spade wakes up and feels himself lying flat on the floor with his katana in his hand. Suddenly, a sound echoes through the stadium :
"Welcome, Pawns."
A slight dramatic pause, which ends with a strong voice saying again:
"Welcome to the game."
