Kuro pressed his lips in a thin line, annoyed but left with him.
Si-Hun walked with his hands in his pockets and his head low.
"I have to meet Arthur today and practice with him. He knows the perfect spots."
"Practice your aim?"
"Practice my aim and my skills. I have my bike at home. The one that's parked in the building's parking, but it needs to be repaired."
"That means more bike rides. I'm down. Si-Hun…"
"Yeah?"
"Did you check the news?"
"Shit…"
"Check it on your phone."
Si-Hun took his phone out and opened Seoul's main news channel.
The news of The Ghost Killer was all over the media.
"The unknown identity has yet killed another creature! The murder took place in Hwagae Forest at night. Still, no traces of the culprit have been found. The whole place is covered with blood and weird ashes that are not confirmed to be of a human. An area of about 200 meters has suffered intense destruction. It seems like there was a fire last night. The police are investigating the area currently to check for any-
Si-Hun closed his mobile and shoved it back in his pocket.
"See,"
"This is shitty. They can get to me someday."
He draped his hood low and clenched his jaw.
He stood a few feet away from the portal, observing it.
"Hey! You cannot stand there! The portal is currently under the examiners' inspection!"
Si-Hun looks at him and doesn't argue.
He steps back.
"This portal seems dangerous." He said to Kuro.
"The energy speaks for itself," Si-Hun said, his voice low.
This was a raid with a different team.
He had raids other than with his original team that had Jae-Un in.
He was going to a random portal with people he didn't know.
After some time, everyone entered the portal.
Si-Hun just entered as a low-rank fighter.
As they went deeper into the portal, they could hear distant echoes from a long way away.
"What are those whisper noises?' Someone said.
"This is NOT a low-rank portal." Si-Hun thought in his head.
"Where the f*ck am I stuck!" He whispered loud enough for Kuro to hear.
"It's okay, master. Even if no one else is capable, you are."
He sighed and walked with the rest of the group.
Everyone was really clueless about what to do as they hadn't seen a single monster till now.
"Where are those bastards hiding!?" Someone in the group shouted.
Just then…it happened.
Si-Hun knew it before anyone else.
But he was a little late to react.
It were Cupids, with arrows in their hands.
Arrows that poisoned anyone they hit in the chest.
One hit a predator right in the leg.
Only if Si-Hun hadn't kicked him to move him out of the way, he wouldn't have survived.
"Ahh!" The predator screamed.
"Y-you saved me!"
"How did he know it was coming?" Someone muttered.
"I don't want to answer any questions. If you value yours and others' lives, please stay behind me." Si-Hun said, voice low.
"W-why should we trust you!? Who even are you!?"
"You saw for yourself. And I don't want to repeat my words."
"We're higher rank than you! No one should follow him!" The team leader shouted.
"He noticed the arrow before you did! You don't even seem as skilled!" A girl shouted.
"Yeah. We're going to this guy's team!" Another shouted.
In a few seconds, everyone was behind Si-Hun.
Only a few predators stayed with the team leader, Gun-Woo.
Si-Hun looked at him with narrowed eyes and started walking forward without even looking at him.
"He's such a try-hard!"
"You can say that for yourself". Si-Hun said, making him flinch, as he muttered this, barely audible, but Si-Hun heard it.
"H-he is something. Surely not a Novis…" The man thought in his head.
Si-Hun flew his pocket knife at the cupid, which sliced through his chest, and he fell.
The blood spilled on the hungry floor.
Everyone gasped.
Si-Hun knew there were more dangerous monsters ahead.
He was ready.
"Watch out!" Someone shouted as another cupid charged an arrow at Si-Hun's way.
But Si-Hun caught it mid-air with such precise ease.
"He's full of surprises."
They walked forward, and everyone kept their guards high.
Everyone was frightened and praying for their lives.
They had put their trust in this man whom they didn't even know, but something about him told them he would keep them safe.
There were two females with them and three males, including Si-Hun.
The two girls were friends.
"He's hot," Ha-Rin said to her friend, Na-Ri.
They both weren't even serious about the damn situation they were in.
Walking further, they were finally a little relaxed, seeing no monsters come in till now except those cupids.
The peace didn't last long.
It was disrupted when they saw it.
The figure's eyes glowed, and its presence alone sent shivers down people's spines, but not of Si-Hun's.
