In this world, a very popular fairy tale tells that ten thousand years ago, there were magicians. At that time, there was one such magician named David Vernon, whose Grimoire had one thousand pages. This one thousand-page Grimoire held a secret: one could travel to another universe using its magic. When other magicians learned of this, they came to him, asking him to use this magic. But he couldn't do it because he had spent his life in research and didn't have enough mana to perform the magic. They then asked David for his Grimoire, but he refused to give it.
There were two ways to acquire the Grimoire or its magic: The first was for the Grimoire's owner to willingly give his magic. The second was to kill the Grimoire's owner to obtain one of its magic pages.
As everyone was about to kill David, he tore out the thousand pages of his Grimoire and scattered them across a thousand places in the World. If these one thousand pages were reassembled, one could travel to another universe.
The next scene shows a grandfather telling this story to his five-year-old grandson. The grandson says, 'Grandfather, you've told me this story so many times. Don't you know any other stories?' The grandfather says, 'Adi, can you tell me why I tell you this story so many times?' Adi says, 'No.' Then the grandfather asks, 'So, tell me, are there still magicians in this World?' Adi says, 'I don't know.' Then his Grandfather conjures a fireball. Adi then says, 'Grandfather, then why does everyone call magic a fairy tale?' The Grandfather replies, 'Fairy tale? That's just a word made up by ordinary people. If everyone in the World knew that humans could manipulate time at will, or travel from one place to another in a second, wouldn't that cause chaos?'
Adi asks, 'Chaos? What kind of chaos?'
Grandfather says, 'Three thousand years ago, there was a great magic world war, and many powerful magicians died. Because of this, the magician community became weak. At that time, ordinary people, along with other races, made a pact and began to hunt down all magicians. Subsequently, if anyone was suspected of being a magician, they and their entire family would be executed. Those who survived, like you and I, are in hiding. And many magicians were involved in that conspiracy. To my knowledge, only you, I, and the descendants of the conspirators are left as magicians.'"
