Chapter 2 - contract marriage

Orion sat down waiting for Aura to show up. He was up, already dressed. It was seven, though he had told her to be there at eight. Yet still, he expected her to show up at the moment.

Orion loved the company. He loved his grandfather dearly. The fact that the old man wanted him to get married made him sick. His grandfather knew he had no one in mind to get married to.

Orion never associated himself with girls, so getting someone to marry would be a pain. That's what his grandfather thought.

He could only think of his secretary as the only solution. She was the only woman he was in touch with apart from his mother. Even with that, he never opened up to her.

Aura was just somebody he had saved, he remembered clearly. And by thanking him, she agreed to work for him.

He hadn't thought about her feelings and how she would react when they get to 'City Hall' to register as a couple.

"Mr Wilder, the secretary is here," a worker informed him.

"Bring her in." The worker bowed and left.

"Good morning, Mr Wilder," he heard a familiar voice.

"Let's go," Orion walked past her.

That didn't give Aura time to savour the place. She has finally been to his house, and has to leave in the blink of an eye.

When she got to the car she had no idea what to do. Orion was busy on his phone, he signalled the driver to drive, forgetting that he had left somebody behind.

"Sir, your secretary."

Even the driver himself forgot that Aura was there. After all, he was only following instructions.

Orion's face flushed. He was going to leave her behind. The only hope for him to be able to have his beloved.

"Why didn't you get in?" He threw the question at her leaving no room for her to think.

"I thought...."

"Get in."

Aura felt uncomfortable around her boss. She, of all people, with the man of her dreams, and she didn't feel at ease.

She suddenly felt shy. She began to fumble with the hem of her dress.

The dress that she had spent her savings on. He did not even look at her. This guy was something.

When she got there, she had hoped he would compliment her on the dress, but that was just an idea of hers.

She regrets it. Where were they even going to?

She wanted to confront him with it. Gosh, who knew what he was going to do with her?

She suddenly felt bored and looked outside. The man sitting beside her was as cold as ice.

"Sir, we are here." The driver informed Orion. He had been on his phone since he got into the car. He remembered telling Aura to dress casually. Now she regrets it because he hadn't complimented her on it. He hadn't seen her in a dress before. Always in a suit.

"Let's go." He reached out for her hand when he got down.

Aura was taken aback.

Her cheeks flushed.

She placed her hand in his and they walked to the huge building in front of them.

It read 'City Hall'.

City Hall?

What were they doing there?

Her hand was still in Orion's. He didn't let go.

It was when they got inside that she understood the whole game.

'A marriage?'

She silently said to herself.

Her hand trembled in his. Then she let go with force, making Orion stare back at her.

"Sir...," she murmured to herself.

"Just follow my lead. Okay."

Aura wanted to reject the idea of marrying her boss. He was marrying her in secret without her consent.

Some part of her felt excited inside. Her dream has finally come true. The man of her dreams is marrying her.

"I pronounce you, husband and wife. You may..."

"No need for that part."

Orion cut the judge before he could tell them to kiss.

"But it is to seal the marriage, Mr Wilder." The judge said with confusion. All his life, he had never married two people with this kind of confusion and loss in their eyes before.

Aura looked around her. When did they go through all the forms? How did she do that?

"Mr and Mrs Wilder, please your marriage certificate." The clerk presented to them the certificate of officially being a couple.

Aura was stunned, that Orion had to pull her away.

Now he had to come clean with her. He motioned the driver to remain out there. He had something to do with his wife inside the car.

"Sir..."

"I'm sorry I had to do this without your consent. Don't worry, this is the contract. If you're not happy with the terms, tell me and I'd change them for you."

He gave her some files which stated a contract.

"Contract marriage?"

"Yes,"

How did they get through the process that quickly? Then she remembered two men in black as their witnesses.

Wait______

Weren't those guys Orion's guards?

His guards were the witnesses.

Did he just marry her without her knowledge?

And where did he get the marriage licence from?

"I know you have a lot of questions to ask. When the time is right, I'll tell you all that you wish to know. For now onwards, you are Mrs Wilder."

"I need to go to the company right away. " They would take you home.

Aura was in a daze because she did not actually see Orion leave her in the car.

"Where is Mr Wilder?" She asked the driver after he turned on the car's accelerator.

"Master said he's going to the company. He has done unfinished work he needs to attend to."

Aura seemed lost.

"We are going to the master's house." The driver informed her after sensing her uneasiness.
